Necron's Lychguard with dispersion shields definitely.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies. |

Not sword and board lychguard, low initiative prevents that, despite the getting back up and all of them having power weapons and invuln saves

Probably 20 genestealers with STs, AG, Broodlord all kitted out with ST, Acid Blood and Implant Attack.
On the Charge this delivers
5, WS 7, Str 6, Int 8 Rending Attacks that reroll 1s to hit
57, WS 6, Str 5, Int 7 rending attacks, that reroll 1s to hit
Along with possibly negating a model's attacks completely, The broodlord being able to Inflict ID with his rends and having Acid Blood.

30 DC with 2 TH each, or 2 LC, or 2 PF, take your pick
Either way its 120 S5 I5 (maybe) all power weapon hits
So it beats this:

Add in a chaplain and you can re roll everything.

The only thing that is certain is that Lychguard are definitly NOT the best assault unit.
They may be best in the Necron Codex, but they arn't all that great at the job. Hence they really shouldn't be taken at all for that. They are best taken for Warscythe attacks against vehicles or killing things that arn't assault units.

Best Assault unit? well 30 death comp + astoraph + lemartes all death comp apart from 20 have power weapons, other 10 have thunder hammers, 15 of them also have hand flamers and the other 15 infernus pistols, that my friends is on the charge 98 power weapon attacks with 68 of them at i5 or 6. then before that you have 15 flamer shots into them and 15 melta pistols. No unit in the game can stand up to that imho.

Honestly, I like warschythes. What ever you happen to run into, you kill. Toss a lord in with Mindshackle scarabs and they are a CC nightmare. The shields won't really get a use, as anything that the shield gets to reflect will be in such low numbers that nothing will come of blocking them.
I prefer the jump infantry to lychguard, but if I HAD to take them, warscthyes it would be.

Well that's hugely expensive and illegal in game terms, generally. Also very hard to use since they'd all have to be on foot and can't fit in a Land Raider.

I haven't seen a single post yet that even begins to equal the unparalleled whirlwind of epic destruction and death that this squad deals out.
Keep trying though. LOL
As a matter of fact, I challenge anyone to do the mathhammer with this unit against ANY other legal unit in the entire 40K game.
