So I was thinking back to when I first started playing my Eldar and I realized that a large part of the decision to start playing was due to the Ranger and Wraithlord models. I thought they were awesome, and wanted to start an army where I could employ a large amount of them.

Did anyone else decide to play an army based on one or two awesome models?

Gotta say I liked it too. When I started playing they still had an upgrade called "spiky bits" I remember thinking that that was kinda funny. I guess that was probably 3rd edition. I have a hard time keeping track.

I vaguely recall that as well. Bloody shame I've long since traded off my CSM. I'd kill to get 'em back. Oh well maybe a new fellowship of the damned in black will arise.

I always like the Mordian Iron Guard models. They look really goofy to me, especially when you consider their fluff. It always made me laugh. Too bad the mordians are so expensive.

They remind me of the old Eldar war walker models. I always thought that having the pilot hanging out in the open was a terrible idea.

No single model did it.
There were a few models, all eldar with huge mohawk hairstyles that pushed me towards them.
The eldar models back in RT had more character than the marines, so I got a few packs of them to start with. Over time, I had enough to form an army.

The battlewagon and Captain Badrukk are probably the two biggest reasons (aside from the codex itself) for me to start WH40k.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I've always loved the ramshackle look of Ork vehicles and tech. I love the bit in the codex that says that their technology only works because they believe really really hard.

EDIT your first post. You should be able to edit the subject line as well. I can for the threads I have started, so you should be able to also.

Go to that first post and click that 'edit' button on the top right of it.

I could see playing a apoc game with that and just have it standing just off the table, peeking over the top because putting it up would either break the table or leave no room for any other models.

if i could only find a good looking fist ala the vendreads left arm for the right arm, i could make them autocannons wristmounted instead of looking like walking flakturrets.......but i digress.

Please tell me you're joking, that's one of the worst models ever produced by GW. It's also an AWFUL idea for a battle suit (hmm, I guess I should just kill the squishy guy in the baby-carriage on its chest). Seriously, anyone who had a hand in designing that model, as well as anyone who purchases it, should be deeply ashamed of themselves.

I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong) the fluff says Harlequins are mercenaries in the codex, so that was my link. They're in the codex, so they're Dark Eldar to me.

The Thunderwolf cavalry figures have me putting together a 1000 point Space Wolf army for modeling and painting. Don't really need yet another army for 40k, but I like those models even though the concept of hard core mechanized space marines riding into battle on wolves is kind of silly.

My chaos marine armies are long based on a love for the various chaos champion models from earlier citadel days and I have converted and incorporated many of them in to my armies through the years.
