I'm not going to lie, a lot of this is disturbing. Most of it offends me but hey, its your hobby. Seems to have swayed from the original theme of the 3rd Ed 'Nids but I've seen a lot worse off-topic-ness(sp?). And advice to anyone who still has a problem with the thread: Leave.

Really enjoy the action in the conversions I have seen (Up to page 8), I'm sure that tyranid invasions would be pretty awful looking, nice to see a little reality and creativity given over to illustrate the point. I shall return after watching a Michael Beihn B-movie on my pathetic and undersized plasma television to observe the rest of the win.

In one of your previous pictures, you had a Space Marine with a scaled cloak. Did you make that cloak yourself?

No, its from an OOP metal model. It was a salamander Sergent, the other half of which now resides under the fist of one of my tyrant guards.

The only reason its on a ripper is because its fairly rare/expensive at about 10 bucks on ebay. I just liked the idea of obscenely overvaluing a ripper to such a large degree.

Love the Iwo Jima piece. Also greatly enjoying the philosophical merits of this thread - challenging traditional definitions and bringing life, rather than action poses, to the world of spacebugs. It would seem that those who set the bar and define the standards like to set them just high enough for others to never achieve the same, yet their arguments lack any rational definitions and rely on circular reasoning, or "begging the question", in order to triumph. I think all the detractors here need to take a course in anthropology!

BTW, where do you find large quantities of parts? I know that being in a backwards redneck town I don't have the same resource pool, but some ideas on who to ask and where to look would be awesome.

Its essentially what they are. Secretly, I'm happy she calls them that, because its a joke! And a joke about them, however bad, still leans towards the tentative acceptance side of things rather than the raw, untamed hatred of things that detract from "us time". Minor victories wherever I can find them when it comes to modeling.

I get my parts through a variety of channels:
1) My love for Tyranid models, bordering on a serious problem I should seek help for.
2) Sites like ebay and various bit retailers whenever I need a specific piece to complete something I'm excited about.
3) Trading models/bits. I always offer to play for keepsies with a basic troop from people I play, and most people are willing to part with some of their bitbox in exchange for cash.
4) Our GW stores (all 3, which I think is cool) have a communal bit box. Its a giant rubbermaid container, and if you've got spare BITS FOR THE BITS GOD, you chuck them in. This buys you a pass to take some out, should you wish. This is where I get most of the fantasy bits I use. I'm the guy rummaging through, hissing at other people that have been patiently waiting for some time now.

Oh, wow. Back in 2E/3E, there was official fluff stating that Hormagaunts reproduced sexually. I actually made a bunch of fighting and mating Gaunt bases to use as Instinctive Behaviour counters for the 3E Codex. They got lost somewhere in the GW Nottingham staff room XD

However, I continue to endeavour to include elements of anatomical correctness in my bugs. Here's a selection of the more eyebrow-raising ones:



The Tyrand and Carnifex both have appropriate means of expelling waste after eating prey, and the Biovore, Canifex and Pyrovore all have bio-ammunition storage sacs in places that for some reason cause no end of amusement in GW's core fanbase of boys aged 11-15.

I'm working on a group of Tervigons that are birthing Gaunt pupae, sue I'll bookmark this thread for them when done

Using them as IB tokens is a great idea.
Glad someone else noticed that gaunts are the only units in 40k that get laid as part of the fluff.

Yeah, my army's got a dino theme, and Stegs seemed like a great fir for docile Biovores. Being a tight git, I used Gaunts to build my 'vores, and threw the trees I got in 3E in to reinforce the 'docile vegasaurus' look. Probably going to redo them with Warriors, so as to be more similar to the current Biovore model, size-wise.

Thumbs up for Doomthumbs, so far the only person on Dakka to get me to laugh so loud my roommates questioned my safety. Amazing stuff, friend.
