I was just looking at the range of guard stuff and thinking of what i would change when i wonderd what do other people think?

so:

1, IG heavy weapons-the weapons carried on sentinels are smaller so why do we have such oversized weapons? make the lascannon and auto cannon smaller and thus feasibly man portable.

2, Why do rough riders look like Attila the hun? Redo the models and lets see something that looks more guardy. or atleast make some alternatives

3, The griffon and colossus. 1 is only available from FW and the other dosnt exist. Make some models of them for feths sake.

4, Storm troopers. Please make them plastic and multi posable.

The Chaos dreadnought is a biggie; it desperately needs a plastic kit. I own two of the metal ones, and I don't mind the aesthetic so much, but they are heavy fethers, and no fun to put/keep together.

The Stormtalon should also probably be aborted and started over. It looks like a GI Joe toy. It doesn't fit the Space Marine aesthetic, much less the 40k aesthetic. Quite frankly, it's embarrassing, as is the Ork flyer for being so boring when there's already so much excellent source material for it (but at least the Ork flyer is serviceable, I don't even know what you'd do with the Stormtalon).

If I had my druthers, the Stormtalon would've just been a plastic land speeder tempest kit with almost the exact same options. It fills the same role and actually fits the rest of the army.

2. Honestly the only good choices when it comes to rough riders are Death Riders, some knights from WHFB, and perhaps using some cavalry bitz from somewhere and Cadian bitz. Honestly I would be happy with anything else, although I think genetically modified mounts like with the Death Riders would be badass.

4. I really do not like the storm troopers as a whole, Kasrkin are okay, but they are too clunky so I just want to clip off the wire that connects their guns to the backpacks and you can't do it (bought a test model to try, made a good bit of progress, but couldn't clean it up well at all, so I have a kasrkin with bits of metal jutting out of him stomach). If I got either of them in plastic kits I could work on them enough to make me happy at least.

Also I would like to add
Manticore/Deathstrike, their missiles are too fat and short, they look comically big, like cartoon missiles, give them a little length and make them a little skinnier.

I agree with 3. and .4.

I disagree with 2.

The Attilan rough riders are from a specific world of horse warriors/nomads (w/ an obvious real world inspiration). I dont want Cadians riding unicycles or catachans on pogo sticks, etc. In fact i miss the look of mixed regiment forces that the IG armies used to have more of.

40K needs MORE of the old school Flavor not less. For proof look at all the sillynes of marines riding wolves, baby bjorn walkers and varous comical new marine flyers that look like fisher price/transformer toys...

I'd prefer things like Attilans, Valhallans, and a few other things get updated sclupts/plastic kits but remain par tof the setting/game.

As for new models I want to see:

Orks:

1. plastic Ork buggies/trakk kit

2. plastic mega nobz kit

3. plastic warboss kit

4. proper ork main battle tank/looted russ type kit (and appropriate codex entry)

5. plastic ork big gunz kit

IG:

1. Plastic Vostoryians and/or Valhallans

SM:
1. THUNDERHAWK

Other:

1. Big kits: Plastic Gargant, titan, Leviathan, etc.

Yeah, the buggies need a redo, and while Ork artillery has a good aesthetic the models are too expensive and hard to get. Same could be said of Meganobz. But you want to redo Thrakka? Why? That model absolutely rules, and Grotsnik is no slouch either.
aosol wrote:
Lord Kaldor Draigo
Possessed Chaos Space Marines

What's wrong with Draigo? His bare head leaves much to be desired, but his helmeted head is fine. Also, the Possessed kit is awesome, it's their rules that's the problem.

If I were to contribute, I'd have to say that the most outdated Eldar infantry need redoing. Warp Spiders, Swooping Hawks, Wraithguard and Warlocks all need some love, even if their models have aged fairly gracefully. The Phoenix Lords have not though, and they need some redoing. I'd also like to see some plastic combination kits for Aspects, since their bodysuits are fairly similar and it's only the weapons and heads that change drastically. Fire Dragons and Striking Scorpions could be one box, while Warp Spiders and Swooping Hawks could be another, given some redesigning on GW's part.

I'd also like to see more regiments of IG in plastic, even if the game doesn't really need them. I've stated more than once that the moment I finish my Valhallan infantry horde GW will release a plastic Valhallan line, and while I hope it doesn't happen for irony's sake, that would be cool. There are still some IG gaps to fill with artillery and the Hydra, but other armies need units more.

Agree with all your comments basically. Ork artillery and Meganobz is really redoing them in plastic or at least a finecast kit with some weapons options
Grotsnik it does still too much like the old style orks, his head and body proportions don't really fit with the current ork line.
Ghazz although I think he is not bad looking I think his design is getting a bit tired. It kind of just looks to much like a solid block of steel and although I know he is supposed to look like I would like some more character from his face and pose.

Have to agree with most of these. The older metal heavy weapons were awesome. When I did my first catachan army a few years ago I scoured eBay for all the Autocannon and Lascannon ones I could find. GW used to make a Griffon box (Chimera Hull and metal cannon iirc), and it still shows up every so often on eBay or the swap shop. I had hoped when they repackaged the Basilisk that it would have included at least a couple of the variants, especially at the price it currently is. A few years back there were greens going around of new Stormtroopers that I wish had made it into production. Not a fan of Kasrkin, nor the older metals (though at one point I loved them), and would love some plastic options.

The only one I don't agree with is the Rough Riders. I like the Attilans, and have since I first saw them way back when I started in 40k in 2nd edition. I always wished for an all Rough Rider army after seeing the listing in the back of the 3rd edition BRB (in those get you by army lists before the large release of 3rd edition Codices), and wanted it as all Attilans.

I'd like to see the current plastic guard ranges expanded to include Cadians and Catachans in Carapace, even if it's just a small bits assortment of legs and torsos. Also, as always, some female guardsmen would be nice. The couple they have (Tanith female with Lasgun, the few from the Last Chancers, and the Catachan with Grenade Launcher) just aren't enough of a variety.

I find it odd how many special characters haven't been resculpted. All of those models are from the early 90s, with the exception of Canis. Some of those figures have aged better than others, but I do think GW should get the old special characters resculpted instead of just making the old models in Finecast again.

I’m only focusing on models that already exist, rather than ones I wish existed (like AdMech stuff):

Eldar
Avatar
Eldar Jetbike (dual kit – can make 3 Guardian Jetbikes or 3 Shining Spears)
Vyper Jetbike (dual kit – either a Vyper or Eldar Venom)
Wraithguard (into plastic, plastic Warlock included in the box)
Guardians (more options, poses, plastic Warlock & HW team included in the box)
Aspect Warriors (combined Banshee/Scorp plastic kit, combined Reaper/Fire Dragon plastic kit, plastic Hawks)

Chaos
Chaos Dread
Abaddon (bigger, meaner, less Failtastic)
Raptors in plastic
Plastic Chaos Havoc kit
Plastic Noise Marine kit
Plastic 1KSons kit
Plastic Plague Marine kit

Space Marines
Combined Librarian/Chaplain plastic kit.
Recut Space Marine Commander kit w/more options like a second Lightning Claw, a T-Hammer/Storm Shield and a Combi-Flamer (compare that sprue to modern day sprues – it’s basically naked!)

Imperial Guard
Griffon (combined Colossus/Medusa kit)
Plastic Rough Riders
Plastic Storm Troopers

ORKS!!!
Mega-Armoured Nobz
Ork Buggies
Ork Warboss (plastic kit).

Tyranids
Hive Guard (3-model plastic kit so there’s more than one pose and so they don’t cost AUD$41 a piece!)
Venomthrope (combined Venomthrope/Zoanthrope plastic kit – it’ll negate the Finecost breakage problems... and all the other Finecost problems at the same time)

Necrons
Cryptek (not a single crappy Finecost model, but a modular plastic kit ala Empire Wizards – two per box, and all the options for the various types).
Plastic Destroyer/Heavy Destroyer combined kit.

Tau
Fully plastic Broadside
Plastic Pathfinders
Re-cut Kroot kit that includes Kroothounds (say 4?) and 1 Krootox per box. Shaper options included as well.
Crisis Commander box w/2 plastic Drones (can be done as Shield, Marker, C3, etc.).

Dark Eldar
Archon’s Court box – fully plastic Archon’s Court models. Would be a Gretchin mob sized box, and you would no longer need bull gak overpriced Finecost models.
Beastermaster Unit – Fully plastic Beastermaster unit. One Beastmaster, 1 Clawed Fiend, 2 Khymera and 2 stands of Razorwings. Gretchin sized box.
