Thanks for the betters pics, that's definitely getting looted if I can get hold of the right bitz - and a mini that needs a PK. The shark is.. brilliant. Nice find

mansta - A thousand 'thank you's sir.

Moltar - well, if you skip back to page 1 or 2 you'll see them in a state not much different to their current progress, maybe a touch of red missing

neil - That's only a slugga he's got there, my post wasn't that clear (as per), but I hadn't made that connection. I wish I had, might have used it elsewhere if I had A few Coen inspired Orks would be no bad thing

CK - no probs. Thanks.

graven/wyrd boy - it surely is one I'd been thinking of doing something Space Shark related with it, but then weety went and mentioned those frikkin' sharks and suddenly everything became clear. Tab clear.

Have now found the box with orky bits in. Yay! It was in a box I hadn't checked because I KNEW what was in it A nice bonus because I suddenly realised that said known item suddenly transformed into a battlewagon in my head I've started clipping and a bit of gluing already, but I'll withold pictures until there's something a bit more substantial than the footprint to show

neil - well I reckon I'll have to do something similar now, just the one though I was thinking more a selection of their films, a dude ork with a bowling ball would be pretty cool

Llamahead - Kodoss & Kang from the Simpsons? Which one reminds you of them? Or Krang from TMNT? (In which case I don't know who kodoss is )

Ramos - Guess you found the answer then

So, busy looking for bits for the battle wagon, but brightened the dread trike up a bit. Then battered it a bit.

Plenty of work to go still.

And finished a few more servo-grots (not sure you'll see much different from the last time you saw them though)

They may get a bit more detailing later, but they're done for now, bar sealing.

Ooh, and I now have a plan for the grot-copter.

Hehehe, those grots are kind of cute, in a "could easily blow your head off" sort of way. I'm liking the bike a lot - are those dreadnought parts masquerading as wheelguards? Or some kind of tau gubbins? I'm always so impressed with how many parts from different kits you can manage to squeeze into a model...

CK - Thanks! I said I knew what I was doing with the grot-copter, at the moment it looks no different to the last shot (except it has glue instead of blu-tac) Should be up later I expect - been working today and I can rarely be bothered to do anything but stay in after a 6-day week. On the trike I used bleached bone for the initial sponge weathering on the red and yellow this time, should have stuck with orange on the red I think. And didn't do a great job with the placement either. It looks better in rl (all my recent shots have been taken at night under electric lighting (daylight bulbs though) and been auto-adjusted) but not great, I'll just mark it down as another learning experience as I don't want to re-do the red now.

Scarper - Cheers, yeah the front of the trike is from a ven dread. Hey, that's what bits are for isn't it?

neil - Thanking you, I'll try for some better shots tomorrow A bit of a cheat on the shiny shoulder-pad, most of that mini is the original paint-job from back in the 80's, nice shiny enamels

Well after checking how many pennies I still had in the bank mid-month I decided I could afford a few more pieces (I swear I thought this orky business was going to involve little layout on my behalf when I first started it - no financial willpower whatsoever I'm afraid). Got a few bits I was after (grot heads and rokkit bits), had a quick browse on maxmini and discovered ALL their kromlech range was out of stock :( So blew a wodge on forgeworlsd instead (yep, that's keeping it cheap ) Nob bikers being the main expense, hoping to get lots of interesting bits there And still waiting for the bits I ordered from Ramshackle Games at the end of Jan - still processing the order 2 weeks later.

That's it, alll done, no pics till later, move along now.

Well, yeah that about sums up my general attitude towards money, but I still get a twinge when I spend chunks of cash on adding more models to a huge pile of unfinished/untouched stuff

And anyway, you're just trying to encourage me to blow wads on some ceramics aren't you

Well, against my better judgement I decided on a couple of group shots for those of you who keep bringing them up

All the finished guys -

So, 2 'koptas and a dredd, no other complete units yet. Although there is still spider-grot waiting to have his legs put back on after his nasty fall during sealing, which would make 10 grots and a squig-hound, still lacking a runtherd though. Five boyz, though technically one of those is a tankbusta. Three tekkies, all looking for meks to follow, a painboy and his orderly, plus an attack squig looking for...well food .

And then the finished guys with the semi-painted guys

15 slugga-boyz and a nob. Another four servo-grots joined the rabble, so now they're missing two runtherds Four tankbustas, two with boom-spears (tank-hamma). Three burna-boyz, with 2 meks tagging along to see what they can salvage. Solitary 'ard-boy and Orkus Mekanikus (Flash-git). A riderless trike, a cyboar with rider and one gone rogue. Bad Dok Grimsnik and his 'shroom patch. One buggy and another 2 'koptas.

Plus about 5 guys who are just black with first layer of green on, and about 15-16 models in various states of construction, a few more if you count some of the stuff that's purely blu-tac'd at the moment.

Now I'd best get on and finish some of those guys off, or make some more, possibly go worship at the twin altars of toaster and kettle first though.

Fly safe.

Thanks for the group shot , i can better get a sense of style and where you are going with these crazy creations now, i think i must have missed the dread conversion first time round. your basing is nicely ruined. and i can tell now that the only unifying colour is green , maybe a little red, this reminds me of the time when Space orks were not all aligned to one of the main clans , well at least not visually anyhow.
you can really tell that each ork is an individual that has a strory behind it. it really really is quite a shame you dont game , because these guys would look great on some top class scenery againts some random enemy.

6-day week? Yeah, I can imagine you need some rest then... I agree that the bleached bone is a bit harsh on the bike, but it looks great on the yellow!

Thanks guys! Shame there's not a few more in the finished section, but there we go. It's also telling that many of the pip ones are not far progressed from shots in the first couple of pages of this blog. Of course, now I've shown you more paint than you've seen on an entire page of this thread in just one post I'll have to compensate by concentrating on the modelling

So then, did someone mention grot-koptas?

I have a place for them now Stormboyz My first thought on stormboyz was mounting them all as torsos on tau drones, then I decided that was a bit too uniform for my liking. Aftre a period of no stormboyz, came the idea of jet-propelled pogo-sticks, which I was still considering until I realised the grotkopta fit the bill. I can get a bit more variety out of the stealth-suits than the drones, think the nob may be based on the earlier concept for the disc based bionikopta, swap out the ork for the grot console nose from the stormboy kit. First guy still needs something to represent a choppa, both need stikk-bomms.

And dropped a bit of paint on the nob for an00bis

Looking great! The Tau stealth suits have so many uses, GW must be wondering why they're selling when the rest of the Tau remain dead weight . For stick bombs, loot the BW ones or maybe toss on some IG grenade packs? Any IG player should have plenty left over.

Ork is looking great as well. Considering the green on the PK, I assume you're going for a verdigris effect?

Nice grot copters , they dual blade sycamore custom one is my fave, where does that top bolt come from? and are the blades plasticard? and good choice for the edge highlighting on the nob , i like the turquise you have started to use. i think its fast becoming my favorite colour..just need some lizard men or aztec warriors now so i can use it

Arakasi - Yeah, this time cute was definitely on the agenda

Gits - Thanks man, the shark seems popular with several peeps, so keep an eye out for more on their way (Obviously they'll be taking their time coming)

CK - Thanks. The suit was just about to become an 'ard boy when I twisted it again and... IG grenades, stikk-bombs from the stoemboyz, maybe even a stick of dynamite or two, I fully expect a mixture there. As to the PK colours, no actually, that will be the base for a pale greeny-blue. Or at least, that's the plan at present. I decided to switch from the yellow that piece was going to be as I'd used yellow for highlighting the rest of the PK, and wanted a diferent contrast in there, felt a pale blue or green might work in it's place. The pic in my head looks good, we'll see how the RL version turns out.

neil - the blades are spares from some of my fleet of small r/c copters (Always a chance you'll see one with a grot on someday) Vile green is the paint.

Scarper - Cheers mate. Close, but I believe it's a hubcap from a beakie's bike

Got my FW goodies today - Yay! Ordered on Sat, received on Tue, think that's a record for any FW/GW stuff I've ordered. So probably no work tonight as I plan what to do with the lovely looking nob biker bits, and peruse IA8. I want to have a look at the mek junker as I think the BW thingy I've started may well become one of those.
