c0un7 - Hah, that is how I first thought of these guys But having found the green goodness I've become addicted, as you say the possibilities are endless...
schank - Thanks man, that pleases me no end Having gone through the whole blog in one go means that you're now horribly aware of just how slow my progress is, might have to send some grot-kopta's your way too now Glad to inspire, you may well see an axe-drill pop up here someday And good to hear one of my guys actually got to see some action, and did something too.
And so a measly selection of picss that I'll somehow try and tease into looking like an update..
Out of the two tekkies vying for the chance to go spread the word of GorkaMekka to their brothers in Da Mental Leejun the wheeled contender sadly lost his place due to his basic inability to wear a looted beaky-mek's shoulder pad. However just as he was being returnrd to da surjary for re-fitting the dok's produced another contender, plus whispered murmurings of another...
The walker-tekky has tied his pad around his shoulder and sports a knock-off tech-marine pack, his missing arm will probably be organic, possibly holding an orky auspex. Not sure about the arm on the cherry-pikka grot, they'll probably both be bionik. Actually the pad will probably get 2-3 mekka-dendrits waving from it, and some kind of measuring device or clamp on the other, want to avoid metal bits for that as I think it'll tip with any weight on that side Have an idea for a hovering/flying type tekky that might try and get a secondment too, we'll see...
Finally got around to making up a stikk-bomm launcher for a grotkopta, added a fuel tank for the rokkits too.
Realised earlier that I still need to gs the back of the pilot's heads, no doubt stick a bit of wiring in too.
Ahh, ain't he sweet, with a teeny cute little flamer, hardly even a tabac-stick lighter.
Of course, he uses that lighter in conjunction with this
Rokkit launcer for the jeep-type buggy. Decided the driver will be holding the gear-stick up in his other arm.
Hmm, don't think I can drag it out any longer. Nope that's about it.
Thanks for stopping by, have a pleasant journey.

Great stuff Monkey , Its not that you were not a Big mek in a former life , its that you patently are a big mek in this life.
The walker guy has the best face , love the fact he is pointing to his mate , saying ha i have two arms and you have one! who inccidntly looks like he is pinting a miniature or has just spotted a carpet monster long lost bit ! fuel tank is a nice touch matey , i think the hole in his head is their for a reason , who would fly one of those things with a full noggin!
stick launcher is a touch of genious that we expect from you mate, and the details on the rockit launcher is amazing, that grot looks well chuffed with himself for getting this job .
Great work as per usual , but your details are getting even more insane :-0

Thanks guys, and as an extra bonus, something that not a cybork, but is bio-mechanical, so ...
If you've read more than a couple of my posts you've possibly noticed there's a distinct lack of speed in the way models move forward around these parts. I was idly toying with some parts that have been blu-tac'd together for ages waiting for me to either make them or put back to one side for other projects they were earmarked for.
So I stuck them together.
And then I thought about seeing if I could paint it in an hour. I know that seems fairly simple to some, but it seems impossibly short to me, even with a low detail figure I also wanted to play with inks and washes, so figured I'd limit myself to those plus white. Gave it a white undercoat and a light devlan wash as preparation. Looked at it for a while thinking of possible colour shemes, then decided against the chosen scheme as washes dry faster than inks and I needed all the advantage I could get and dropped inks from the palette Put a random hours worth of music to play and moved to the desk.
Doesn't really deserve 5 shots I know, but I got 5 decent pics so figured I use 'em all
Needs highlights and more washes, and no way could I try to do it on anything with any detail, but it was a fun little exercise. Next time I'll try 2 hours
I think it looks really good. And I'm not sure if you can build a model without some sort of mechanical alteration. I think if we knew the real you we would find out that your a mad scientist that use his hobby as a brain storming tool before he does the real experiment. I wouldn't be surprised if your had real sharks with laser beam mounted on their head. I'm thing you have your own cyber-squirrel army to.

Now that is something to behold. simple and beautiful to boot , the wing transition to backpack is sublime in both colour and build. Man i hate it when you say that you could spend more time painting , think of all the hours lost building
really nice build matey , reminds me of something but i havent the foggiest what? quite scary too . is this your darkside Monkeytroll

schank - Thanks man. I have a few guard who would deny that You really do need to keep your eye out for those grotkopta's now, they'll probably reach you before the cyber-pike. Yeah, well, squirrels were the closest thing to grots I could find locally. They make a real fuss wilst I'm shaving them and spraying them green.
neil - Can't really take much credit for the build, it's just a chaos pack, an alien head and a daemonette's claw. So that transition has nothing to do with me I think 1-2 hours every couple of weeks is fine. It's just a break from the real meat of the hobby I won't get addicted or anything.
It's fine. I can handle it. It's just a cold.
Darkside? Lightside? It's just shades of greyscale round here
CK - Thanks. I think if I tried to do it all this way I'd start trying to do more with it and it'd take just as long I'd need to add inks back in anyway, can't get a good green with just thraka It's fun trying to figure out the highlighting, you can shade with extra washes, but if you want to highlight and stay with just white and washes you have to figure what stage to add highlights to get covered with washes.
Hmm, that made no sense whatsoever did it? This guy got 2 washes before a very light drybrush followed by another wash. I'll probably re-do the white before another 1-2 washes on most areas.
RSJake - Actually, wasn't it San Francisco? I seem to recall a scene with the golden gate bridge, but it was an awful long time ago
Perkustin - It's a fiend-a-me-bob, late 2nd Edition D&D monster.
honest.
Hmm, it actually has no real purpose, I suppose it could be a slaneeshi version of a screamer or a fury, but I think it may end up as a pet of a slaaneshi sorceror now. Hmm, maybe I'll re-think those chaos sorceror thingies I'm doing, maybe there should be one for each major power. I was going to avoid that route, but maybe not...
'Sigh' - Do pay attention in class Perky. That bright spark weety has already discerned the nature of my tweezer fingers, and as the fell(through a hole in the roof of creation)-beast there clearly has large pointy claws it would have a hard job fiddling with little pieces of plastic. Therefore it is most self-evident that it is not my good self being portrayed thusly. Nor even my bad self.
Yep, you guessed it, another meandering ramble of replies, meaning that I have no real update for you maybe next time...

well I like that flying thing - it has paint on it! Sow how did you learn to paint so good monkey (slowly I guess). I reckon it is great and you should paint some of these sorcerers you speak of
lol, I guess it was New York after all then. How could I forget Caine and Shaft were in it as well?
And there you go neil, another good reason to put some paint on occasionally, it keeps weety happy. Funnily enough I think my painting improved a lot whilst I wasn't regularly painting. Although I painted a lot as a teen, it was all enamels and drybrushing really, a bit of ink and washing here and there maybe. Apart from a few small spots hobby work was very intermittent for many years. If you imagine how haphazardly I progress and streeeetch that out, and sloooow it down you can probably guess I didn't get much done throughout However I was still reading up on painting in mags and occasionally on-line and storing it all away somewhere., and since joining Dakka I've found that the 'regular' bouts of painting seem to be consolidating stuff I've never tried before.
What I really need to work in is curbing the massive ADD that kicks in just as I get to the final details of a model, tht happens so often it's not even funny anymore as I often have to re-touch models that have gotten themselves chipped in the years they've sat around in half-completed stages. Only to not finish them again
The sorcerors will be appearing on my chaos blog, as should this beastie really, it'll go there when I finish him off, which I'll aim to do tomorrow
xenon - snuck in there whilst I was distracted heh? Thanks dude, the sharks are grinnin'

OMG! I know it's an old movie, but could it have really been that awful? I remeber it being so much cooler! Anyway, it did look a bit like the Biomechanical daemon flying whats-it Monkeytroll made!

Yeah, I remembered it as a dodgy B-movie, but not that dodgy. I think it may have got confused with some other movies in my head though, I thought I remembered Q as being an actual winged serpent rather than a dodgy flying lizard Certainly remember those overhead shots of people about to get plucked off buildings though
If IIRC, there are boobs shown in one or more scenes...That's probably why I thought it was a much better movie than it was! And I guess at the time that was High-Tech Special Effects, so.....

RSJ - lol, fair enough. Progress? I believe I've heard that word before, not very often in conjunction with this thread though Well, maybe a little something...
Yggs - thanks man, one more special appearance just for you
tough'n'orky - Thank you. All you need is a pile of bits and some time to play with them Orks are great for chopping up and putting back together again, it's in their DNA
So gave it another drybrush and another wash over each of the areas, then stuck some small slate pieces to a base and painted that with washes too, bit of grass and presto...
Probably put some more pics up later in my Heretical Ramblings thread, and possibly some more stuff up here later.
Or maybe, not just noticed the time, possibly spent a bit longer on Eve than I thought
I see the skin looks a bit lighter and did you highlight his head as it looks more like the Alien head now. the basing looks cool , i like the idea of just slate and grass , pure and simple.
Don't know how I've not been keeping up with this thread. So many nice updates! Those Pong playing grots are classic and I love the little guy with the mini flamer.
Really like that flying alien thingy, great colour scheme!
neil - well simple model, simple paint, figured might as well go three for three
jackanory - well, if you miss a few that just makes it more likely you'll see some progress as you catch up Thanks, and thanks!
lindsay40k - Thank you, glad it caught your eye. Welcome aboard, hope you find something you like.
And so on to something actually belonging to the cyborks, seeing as this is a blog for them and all that Started laying some colour on the jeep-style buggy, and started weathering parts of it.
Little Wurtburna figured he needed some kind of safety net to help keep him in the jeep, and after playing about with some handholds and a bungee cord he decided he'd be traditional and stick some wire mesh around his rokkit enclosure.
The weathering is really nice on that buggy , but i think it could do with some rust ;-) , only kidding some nice , muddy wheels wouldnt go amis though . maybe even a mud guard for the back wheels , although , thats probably out of the question since you started painting already , now lets see .. is this sci fi book porn , i see before me , this has to be a terran trade authority book or some other 70's sci fi art book .

schank - Thanks man. Working a lot on this style of weathering with these guys, I'm really happy with how it comes out on pale colours like yellow and green, still need to work on getting the right colours for darker tones though, red is okayish, blues are still poor. I find it really enjoyable to paint though, so all good Yep, driver is waving a gear stick and a steering wheel around, gunner is the little flamer grot a few posts above, Burnwurt (I got his name wrong previously )
RSJ - Cheers! If only I could claim that worn padding as a stroke of genius, unforunately it's merely where I'd stuck some blu-tac, so that when I sprayed there'd still be some clean plastic to stick the driver to However it does look like worn padding and I think I'll be trying that in future - when no doubt it won't look good at all
neil - There will be rust.
Rust is normally the last thing I apply. Normally Won't be much mud though as they're urban based, maybe just a smattering of gak. Decided against mud-guards when I was building, mek's don't care if the little gunner gets a bit of dirt sprayed on him Actually, still trying to decide if the engine block is going to be gleaming and spotless as a contrast to the chipped bodywork, or a solid, rusted up block. I like the idea of an ork deciding to keep the runnin's clean, something picked up from observing the 'umie meks, and the contrast should look interesting, possibly keep a pretty clean paint job on the intake too. The big pile of rusted engine is appealing because, well, because it's a big pile of rusted engine Yep, TTA Great Space Battles, I dug it out after discussing Space-Wrecks, and though it would make a suitable base
CK - Thank you sir.
Planning on giving it hub-caps from the classic old O&G shields, hopefully I've got 4 of the design I want, if not I may put a ifferent design on each wheel, or split them front and back-pairs.
