RSJ - It does look good, now you've pointed it out I'll be trying to replicate that deliberately on some other pieces And obviously it won't look so good then
Arakasi - Yeah, that's my general aim, I just had a flash on a great rusted hulk of an engine that shouldn't be able to work at all But I don't think it would have worked on this buggy, I'll save it for later
moonshine - Glad to hear I'm keeping it where you like it
So, busy-busy recently. Unfortunately not on my models Plus I've found myself in some strange head-space the last week or so and when I have had time to sit at my desk I've just been poking and prodding at various bits to no real avail. I know, I know, not much different from normal then So tried a little more of that painting thing this morning (see, told you I was in a weird head-space ).
Most of the jeep-buggy done now, just some interior details left really. Plus driver and gunner. And need to make up a couple of rokkits to lie in the back of the jeep.
Still not happy with the chipping effect on the blue and grey. Using grey for the highlight and dark flesh for the primer, certainly better than the light blue/granite I tried previously. I think maybe it's the actual patterning this time that's more of an issue than the colour, looks more like spray than chips to me, think the individual paint splats are too big considering it's on fairly small pieces. Still, it is an improvement so that's good.
Oh and these guys just wanted to put in an appearance...
Hopefully get some more stuff done after I've been looting. Err, shopping.

That is some nice chipping on the yellow and red paint and some lovely rust effects, with that touch of verdigris on the bumper.

graven - all caught in cyber-dolphin friendly nets too
Llamahead - If only I'd known that undercoating a piece of plastic and then pulling off some blu- tac would generate such interest I'm so glad RSJake pointed it out, it never even occured to me, and I'm already thinking of various places to use it
Mu - Thanks, I'm really pleased with the way this chipping works on the yellow particularly. The green and red are next, then all other colours gets a bit wishy-washy And yep, the sharks they are a smilin'.
samwellfm - Thank you man.
PDH - Thank you Peter.
neil - Cheers dude I'll keep my mind's eye out for a real rust-heap, just for you
And in a shocking move, a second update for today.....
OK you can get up now and look at the pwetties..
Finished off one of the meks
Well, I just noticed his bionik eye needs touching up, his real eye needs doing completely, and there's some washes to do on the base, but close enough
Laid some colour down on one of the 'ard boyz
Still a bit to go
And I'm sure there's peeps out there eagerly awaiting the return of....
....TV Head. Decided that putting some paint on him might help me figure out how I'm going to do the screen. Yep, still working on that Wondering about trying out some OSL when I do the lights in Dok Fioloplis on the chest there. Then realise what a horrible mess that would make. Then consider trying it again
Also started colouring in on the second grotkopta
A quick shout out to CK there
And you may recall me musing that I might use something like this as a nob for these guys:
Which does amuse me But whilst deciding on twin turbines or twin rotors for the third version, I thought that this would be a better nob:
Look good?
And finally, I finally came up with a use for an arm I'd been toying with for months...
Thanks for stopping by, have a pleasant journey and don't forget to leave your teef at the exit...

Someone's been busy!
The painting on the Mek and 'Ard Boy seems a bit grainier than usual - I'm hoping it's just the lighting or camera work... TV head and the grot kopta are looking smooth though...
Deffkoptas don't have Nobz - unless these are Stormboyz? I can't even remember anymore Regardless - they are looking good.
Is that last Ork meant to be falling back from an exploding cybork shoota? Ouch! (From the original pic I thought it was a Klaw - but it looked too small )
Keep up the good work as always!
Will be interested to see where you go with the disc. That Stormboyz grot seems to being showing up quite regularly in threads I'm watching - I may have to remember to use him for something... I think when I was visualising the disc I thought it would be hollow. I'm now having thoughts of a central gear encasing the grotpit with two or three smaller gears between it and the outer ring...
Where are the wings from on the other one?

Where are those wings grot copter from? they are really nice, and would make a cool yeld spryer wing set too ;-) Like the the use of the pylon sprue bit for the Meks guns. And is Tv heads gun just painted with washes ? because its pretty nice work. and is that a forgeworld ork head on the robot legs?

moonshine - I thank you sir. I have a special ideas bag I looted from an ancient deity in a prvious life. It comes in useful now and again.
samwellfm - Thanks! That's what I wanted to hear, not everything I think looks good seems to look good to others
Arakasi - Afraid I can't pin that on the lighting/photo's. The mek is definitely a lot grainier than most of my current stuff. He was one of the ones I seemed to paint really quickly a few months back, and then noticed that I'd reverted to drybrushing them. I didn't feel like re-doing the lot so kind of muddled through with washes and a bit of over-painting here and there, although I did leave most of the metal work. It has a slightly different texture in the flesh but still fits in with the others, but macro-photo's are always going to show up the difference. The 'ard boy was a trial with some new inks (running out of my favourite GW red and yellows), especially over the yellow - haven't decided on whether to re-do or try and salvage yet, think with a few washes and some chipping it might be okay. If it wasn't the yellow that caught your eye then it's just down to bad painting on my part
Yep, the grotkopta's are stormboyz, didn't think I could get away with them as deffkoptas as well as the bionikoptas
That was the plan, orky tek doesn't always work good you know, just ask Gutslumpa Glad you could see what I was aiming for, wasn't sure it came across well enough.
Well, not sure where that disc will eventually end up. It used to be a ride for my DE haemonculus, then was a concept bionikopta, then a nob for the grotkoptas, now it's back to just a spiky disc The 'real' disc kopta I have planned is more of a cockpit (I like grotpit btw ) in the centre with rotors coming out to meet the outer disc. The gear idea certainly sound interesting...
I believe the wings are from MicroArts, came with a steam powered backpack. They've been lying around for a few years now waiting for me to find a use for them, they were originally planned for a raptor but were a little too big for my liking if I remember rightly, but then again there could have been any number of reasons that that hasn't transpired yet
neil - see above The pylon bit is the defining feature of the kustom mega blasters built by one of Upzag's promising young meks, an idea that I mostly like, but occasionally wish I'd used it on something else and gone a bit wilder with the KMBs. Swings and roundabouts I guess TVHead's gun is just chainmail and various washes, yes, although I like the look of coloured weaponry I find that I tend to veer towards plain metallics when I paint myself, more out of habit I think. If I start to auto-pilot then dry-brushing and metals come to the fore I find
The head on old explody arm there is from the MaxMini ork pirate heads. There's some great heads in there, but I think this is the first one I've used so far. I wanted a head that was open, but not one of the standard yellin' ones.
weety - cheers!

Heff - Glad we here at Evil Empire Plc R&D Dept. are appreciated
jack - Thank you, I'll try
And so after some days in the sun with friends a veritable whirlwind of ideas came crashing through my work desk. Here's the first to get finished from the latest batch... (still need some tidying up)
Some boyz:
He got his feet replaced with stompy pads and had a slugga switched for a hand, but still he screams and raves and waves his hands in the air like he just don't care...
That may be due to GrimSnik practisin' a bit of brain surjary recently though...
There'll be a clear plasic viewing port placed over the hole once it's painted up (so somewhere around July 2012 then)
Even when you're a bionik killing machine with inbuilt multi-spectral targeting, metal jaws, a telescopic waist and a small tank for legs, there's something comforting about wielding a piece of rusty pipe.
Another 'ard boy joins the fray. May still swap out one of the legs for a different one, or maybe just add some wiring to these ones.
And a nob with shoulder mounted shoota/rokkit kombi. Was going to have a banna pole out of the pipe on the backpack, but it would have to bend around the rokkit so it'll be for the ignition wire now
So, thinking about using the baneblade sponson to raise up the fans, creating a small tier of flooring around it, possibly using the space for the bolters to house a tow crane. Probably mainly mesh flooring, some scaffolding holding it up, servo-grots scurrying about under it. Still not decided on whether to have another set of fans directly above these, or maybe a turbo-jet mounted between these two.
Also still thinking about extending decking out around the craft, possibly a small second floor, little more tham a watch tower really. Was actually supposed to rough out some ideas for these pics, but realised I didn't. What you can see is a rough blu- tac'd concept for the turret mounted SAG, a big shoota and the orkus mekanikus sybol on the nose
That's about it for now, thanks for having a poke around.

Commander Cain - Good to hear! Yeah, it got a tiny bit more ramshackle than I'd planned More 'decking' to add in over areas still.
weety - I think you'll find da boyz looted da 'slicey' and da 'cutty' from da spellum-a-checky-ma-jig. Needed for much important Mekky stuff dey woz.
Space crusade weapons..check. Titan drill and bit...our survey says 'uhuh'. Drill from the DE Talos, gun arm from a GOT drone from Antenociti's Workshop.
Arakasi - Unfortunately the laws of physics prevents some of that imagination becoming a reality. Or maybe that's 'fortunately'
neil - Thank you sir!
They got out of their pen again? How?
Everyone loves sharks. Everyone loves laser guns. Therefore....
moonshine - Thanks dude
bigfish - Thank you. Mind you, I don't think it's big enough for an aircraft carrier, maybe a few grotkopta's
Marcin - Let's hope not, else the universe becomes a very boring place.
And so, dear readers, what could I have gathered you here for at this late hour? For surely it cannot be another update already? Verily, it is so.
The dok's released another batch of kustomas.(Although the grots think he's been a bit premature)
Snake 'ead Jonez
Snakeboy here still hasn't had his gunarm fitted correctly, his jaw still needs adjusting too, he'll drop everything he bites at the moment.Boar boy torso's fit really well with the ork legs once the pelvis has been lost. Possibly a wire or too missing from his head too
Chew-Ya-Fat
He's so cool, he'll dual shoot you whilst sitting down. He shouldn't really have been released till he'd had a new optik put in place though.
Ahh, turns out he's on the floor due to some shoddy workmanship at da surjary. Hope he gets a discount on that optik now.
Spider-Ork, spider-ork...
...does very little a spider ought.
Except scuttle. Spider-Ork is super-orkily gifted at scuttling.Even before he's had his feet fitted. Just think about that for a minute.
That's dedication to scuttling right there.
Should probably get those exhausts looked at when he's in for his re-tread too.
Da Judj
He is da roolz! No-one's quite sure how he keeps that looted aquila on his shoulder, he hasn't tied or bolted it yet. He occasionally answers to the name of Jo. J-O, Jo. Maybe he'll get an ammo runt called Pip.
Thank you for coming, don't forget your guide on the way out.
