Man, I love this thread so much. The creativity and dedication you posess really helps bring life to your little monsters. As to bigfish's previous notion, can we make this into an ork aircraft carrier?
http://www.x-entertainment.com/articles/wishbook/ussflagg.jpg
I can see it now, all ork-ified. It would be amazing. It would also be about the size of most gaming tables making it even more awesome. Adepticon Army display base, anyone?

Marcin - Not at present, although there's a bit of doc Ock inherent in all big meks I feel
CK - Updates are like a number 23 bus around this thread, wait for ages then 3 at once. Thanks, Spider-ork will be better onced he gets some feet, even if they end up as simple sucker-pad types. Which they will now.
mullet_steve - Thank you. No he can't swing from a web (although webs were briefly considered), but boy you should see him scuttle. He does love to scuttle some.
Moltar - Thank you so much. But doesn't dedication involve actually finishing stuff As to the carrier, I think I'll leave that to the adepticon goers I like how it only comes with one figure too
samwellfm - I could make a fleet of them, float them out in the marina and have a water-themed apocalypse game.
not gonna happen
And so onto this evening's main feature.
Dukes and damsels, for your delectation and delight, a few more dazed denizens dredged from delirium (all desiring green-stuff delicacies)
Burnaboy:
Aftera small incident at a refueling station this guy requisitioned part of an aborted dalork. There'll be a stogie between his fingers and a bit more detailing on the chassis. I need a few more random metal plates and surjary scars amongst the few bits of flesh the cyborks show.
Chorlton:
This is just another sad example of what happens when a perfectly average hyper-violent fungoid life-form gains access to guns and knives and cybernetic mono-wheeled prosthetics. Do you know where YOUR orcs are?
Another nice mono-wheel from maxmini.
Nob:
Was originally 'da hunta', but I know have a better concewpt for 'da great green hunta', so he lost his moniker. Hard cheese old chap. It appears his cyber-monocle has slipped up somehow, have to get that looked at when he's in for gs-ing.
GitStompa:
Was pleased with how he came out, think it caught the thing I was looking for. Yeah, pretty vague I know, but just tried to describe it several times and couldn't so.... Hey, it's the wacky monsters that are the draw here, not the in-depth analysis
Not so pleased with the wiring to go from the helmet to a backpack that's not there yet. Or to be precise the order in which I thought I'd do the wiring. Namely, AFTER attaching a tiny yet awesome brass-etched gun-sight to the slugga.
Nope, you're right, you can't see one in the pics.
I can't see one anywhere on my floor desk or clothes either.
The wiring doesn't show because when I realised what I'd done and couldn't find the sight I just put it down and moved on. I mean he could be finished. Technically you wouldn't know about the wiring if I hadn't mentioned it, so it could be finished as far as you know. And then the wires would be like some bonus DLC that had been kept secret, rather than a patch to put in what you were already expecting.
Nob:
Orks with klown noses, Yay! Just couldn't get a pic that didn't look like a clown nose. It's supposed to be an eye-stalk coming out of one socket, it has a wire leading into the other.
His big choppa is going to get chopped a bit, possibly a shoulder-mounted rokkit, but that'll depend on what exactly happens to the choppa.
Thanks for looking.

Cool stuff as always - though Chorlton looks like a boy with a Nob arm (could just be the photo angle...) and the first Nob (woz 'iz name?) looks like a Nob with a Boyz arm (pretty sure this isn't the photo angle ) Not that it's easy to find things that look out of place on your "kreations" Having said that , Burnaboy look slike he still needs the most work - his Burna especially looks too weedy!
There are some unfilled holes in GitStompa's slugga and helmet that look... unfinished. Like perhaps they were meant to have - I don't know - a sight and perhaps some wiring? That would look awesome!

Arakasi - Thanks. Yeah, well spotted, trust me to take pics with the large arm in the foreground and the small arm behind Chorlton's was something I didn't pick up on till after, just used an arm from the pile The nob's arm was done knowingly, I thought I'd get away with it after a few tries with nob arm's throwing grenades didn't work for me. If it weren't for you pesky kids I'd have got away with it. (he's lost his name to another idea, if he's a good boy he'll get a new one)
Yep, the burna still needs some work, the base unit looks a little bare still, and I'm thinking there may need to be another fuel tank on his back. I was trying to avoid that, and was happy with a smaller burna (well, I'ze gone and 'ad this 'ere leg replacement thingummy, and now I ain't got enuff teef fors a decent burna), but he's still missing something, so I guess I'll have a look at potential fuel tanks.
A sight and some wiring eh? Why I oughta....
But happy, happy, joy, joy....an extensive swish* about on the desk eventually turned up a lovely little brass-etched sight. And there was much rejoicing! In fact I was so pleased I almost went and glued it straight back into place. And then remembered the wiring. So wiring into the helmet first, then I put the sight back. Pics later, hopefully there may be some newbies too.
c0un7 - Thank you. If memory serves (and it should by no means be assumed that it does) TV-head was built during the time when I was confined to using bits that were actually on my desk (snd that's the real reason my desk is overflowing with bits - for emergencies). There's a lot of serious head trauma cases wandering around at the moment, maybe I shoulod concentrate on a GS session tonight, get some of those fixed up. Or maybe I'll see what else wants to be built, I have an unopened box of nobz to add to my bits, as nob bodies were coming into short supply in my pile.
neil - See, and there's me worried that peeps are just looking at pwetty pictures and scratching their heads, I'm glad you appreciate it. Oh wait..that's....
I think it's more a case of various bits I've been working on suddenly realised where they were destined to go. Klown nose is most definitely Eye and not Nose, will be staying as Eye, will not even consider the role of Nose, is Eye. Although an orky killa klown posse would be pretty cool, this is not part of one.
*swishing is the prime method for finding things on my work desk. You take a long thin object, say a knive, brush, bit of plasticard etc and then swirl it amongst the detritus, hoping to catch a glimpse of some small piece of plastic amogst the plastic.

LK II - A giant robotic Pennywise, lovely
I think klowns would make good Nobz/Kommandos in Adam Blork's Travellin' Cirkus an' Unfair.
You'd want a variety of squig-beasts, going up to squiggoth.
Ringmaster - Warboss
Fire-eaters - burna boyz
Street performers - lootaz
Uni-cyclists - bikers
Dodgems - buggies
Orky Kannonballz - stormboyz
Klownz - nobz (they must get a tiny battlewagon)
Mimes - kommandos
Freakshow - flashgitz
Sorry, I think you get the idea now, I'll stop
CK - Thank you. Those holes have now been filled with some wire type goodness However there are several more drilled helmets on my desk, and they won't all be getting wired up, I think it's a good look
Xmortis - Wow, thank you dude I kinda consider Orks to be the MacGyvers of the 40k universe, so that would make me the MacGyver of MacGyvers Now, if only I can harness the power of the mystical Fists of Norris I'll be able to rule the universe.
Using only a hairpin and half a stick of juicy fruit.
bigfish - It certainly made me chuckle And thank you, my meks have a franchise at Big Guns R Us, you can probably find some of their stuff there
So, some wiry goodness in that helmet did I say? And a sight too?Hmm, guess I'd better throw a couple of pics up, keep the mob from baying. I was sure those sharks would have sorted them out by now. May be an occasional bit of 'motion blur' on the pics, it's a bit choppy here
Gitstompa (Slight Return)
So that little thing is what I was making all that fuss about, eh? I know, I know, but something about the precision of that sight, and it's placement on an Ork slugga just tickles me greatly I like the pipes, but they seem to have taken away slightly from the b-movie alien/monster type feel I thought he had going for a while.
And the big story around the kamp-furnaces is that, against all odds, the 2 brave (read press-ganged) servo-grots up for secondment to their brothers in Da Mentul Leejun have finally staggered out of the workshops and surjaries...almost intact.
Spanna-Tek 'Bubbles' GrubSpin
Just a bit of tidying up and he's done.
Tek-Masta 'Stumpy' Gutwerkz

A bit of tidying up, and some filling required on the spanna-ax.
Now to see if graven has a preference as to which he'd like

Cute grotz - love the axe/spanner. Gitstompa's sight is... delicate. I see it already has a head shaped dent in it... Only suggestion I could make on Gitstompa is to try to remove the kinks in the wire? (or put something there to explain them...)

Gitstompa and Tek-Masta 'Stumpy' Gutwerkz are just awesome! You can really see Tek-Masta bossing around among all lesser tek-grots! Spanna-Tek 'Bubbles' GrubSpin looks great as well though with that pose and that right arm and weapon it kind of looks like he is about to vacuum Big Meks workshop floor (which seems like an ungreenskinish thing to do).

So, shouldn't the grots get some sort of chibi-hawk too? I hear they're all the rage
With the addition of a tail, maybe with double upright fins, a possible grotkopta.
With some underslung shootas could even become a kan.
Except I think that's a better basis for a grot tank:
An interesting array of turrets has been looked at so far
Oops, forgot the replies
Commander Cain - Thanks man, it's amazing what a good bits collection does for your modelling
Grass4hopper - Thank you. It is indeed an epic rhino, a favourite mode of locomotion for the followers of GorkaMekka
Arakasi - Thanks, and indeed ax-spanna is far better than spanna-ax Yep, by the time the pic got taken the sight had been bent flat against the gun twice Had a bit of a go at sorting the kinks, wasn't great, but it's a tiny bit better now. I was thinking of painting them like some kind of malleable metal (copper or lead-ish), so that might work anyway.
neil - cheers mate.
Big Mek Dattrukk - Well, tech-marine, pope, what's the difference really?
c0un7 - I'm fairly sure that 'tidying' is not at the forefront of GrubSpin's mind
Wazzdig Dagga - Well, the two servo-grots were done as part of the GMS ( http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/305404.page), which kind of spurs you into pushing yourself a bit more, so glad they look a bit more detailed.
So, what nefarious project has been keeping me quiet the last few days?
Apart from grot stormravens/tanks, that is?
Well, there's a selection of heads now awaiting final GS'ing, a bit of time went into slightly hollowing out part of a nob's side, and various bits of plastic have been held up against various other bits of plastic. All pretty standard stuff.
Oh, and what did become of the grot tank I hear none of you cry.
Well I like that design as a basis for a tank, so that will no doubt appear at some time, but that wasn't the real reason for building that bit.
Upzag's been trying out some new 'legs' as it were:
mostly held together by magic atm. Some of that magic wore off during the photo session, and both tracks now need re-gluing to the body. The bionik arm is just pinned in place for now, it needs a bit of adjusting to the right angle, the handle will get a wrench added to it. The chainsaw arm needs a bit of gs and some wiring.
The ork side eye needs to become a bit smaller, possibly elongate the ear a bit too. The torso is just balanced on the tracks, needs a bit of detailing around the waist. That particular KMB has been briefly looted from a passinf deffkopta for the photo-shoot. Upzag's personal blasta is slightly bigger than that.
The back area's still under consideration. The plan is for a small area with a few mek-arms waving from it, then the exhausty type gubbins, haven't quite pinned down the exact look, but getting closer.
Of course, Upzag does get an occasional yen for a bit of a speed run. The track unit's pretty nippy, but sometimes, you just need to upgrade:
The front track will be attached to a biker base, and probably get a magnet in the tip just for added stability. There's magnets in the tracks, which will mate with ones in the 40mm base and the biker base.Probably add a pin to each as well for added security.
Part of the reason the back is taking longer is I have exhausts for the general use tracks, and a jet engine for the bike configuration, and I'm trying to get a better looking join than just flat magnet attachments (and different in each mode).
And dakka has been generously 'provided' by some handy guard
One of the ammo drums will be replaced by an orky one, may do something with the barrel ends too.
Now, as you're here, you may as well take a seat there. The dok's got some interesting new tekneeks he's eager to try.
No?
You sure? Very cheap, only a few teef.
Ok, your loss, maybe next time....

neil - As I'm 'close' to getting a unit or so actually completed I figured I'd better make a start on the bossman. Although there's always the chance he may get downgraded to be another big mek later I keep thinking that Upzag should really be mounted on some kind of gravimetrik bike as that is what he likes to dabble in, something like the Carl Critchlow style jet bikes from the HellsReach section of the old RT rulebook, nice and fat and chunky. Or maybe something else entirely Whatever, figured this particular guy should start getting into shape.
As to the body, no, you probably haven't seen that particular ork body before That would be because it came from a zoat
schank - Well you know, we had a discussion as to whether we should all put our stuff on hold until you'd got your new mancave sorted, but then we went 'Nah'. Ork and mindy is a topic I keep thinking about, but not on TV-head's screen. I'm 99.99999% certain it won't be showing an image from a show, far more likely to be static/facial image/radar screen orientated. Hmm, M.O.S.H. might work for some kind of 'kopta goodness though...
CK - Well there's a fair bit of common DNA between this and my Wazdakka concepts, but this won't be it. My dakka-cannon is bigger than those puny 'umie big shoota's And I'm unsure about Wazdakka due to his lack of cybork goodness. From somewhere I'd got the idea he had a 5+ inv save for some other reason, and was content to just use that as my reasoning. Now I know I don't play, so it shouldn't matter, and I know it shouldn't make any real difference anyway if there was a bit of bionik stuff going on and it got ignored, but there's a little bit of me shaking his head and muttering about concepts But it's hard to resist a big bike with a big gun. Maybe I'll just tell myself I'm building him as a stand-alone, not part of the army, I have a few other ideas where I'm feeling that the cybork vibe might actually detract from the overall feel. We'll see...
Arakasi - I was thinking about shortening them just slightly and replacing the muzzle ends with some more orky bits. To be honest if I go for fatter barrels I'll probably use a different base for the gun itself. I had originally been considering using some kind of energy weapon instead of slug-throwers, mainly due to not been able to come up with a decent ammo delivery system. Fairly sure I've got some more of those auto-cannons lying around though, so I'll probably chop the barrel off one and see what occurs.
No updates yet as I haven't done anything but look at dakka (and some bridges ) since getting home from work. Maybe I'll go and do something in a minute.

Ragin' Ork Dreadnought

Was it suggested to put a smiley face (grinning Ork face?) on TV head's screen? If not - I'm suggesting it now (Think the robots in Fallout: New Vegas - if that means anything to you )

Fixture of Dakka

weety suggested a kind of static-covered smiley, which I like the idea of, but not sure I can pull it off. I'll have to look up the New Vegas robots, not got round to that yet, I've barely touched the main quest in Fallout 3, and my dvd drive refuses to eject at the moment. Which is fine as it has NeverWinter Nights in and I need to finish that off sometime Then maybe back to Fallout, or possibly go back to Morrowind, which is in pretty much the same state as fallout, lots of time put in, main quest basically ignored At least I got Oblivion on the PS so that I wouldn't add a gak-load of mods to that. Of course no doubt the new Elder Scrolls will be out before I get round to any of that and I'll go grab that instead
Umm, where was I? Oh, yes, smiley faces I was also thinking of looking up Will O the Wisp, trying to remember what Evil Edna's face was like, that's another idea. I'll go check up on Edna and the Vegas 'bots now...
cheers GG, loot away
