I am definitely getting bath house vibes from your building. Or it may be the pose of your model in the doorway.....

Yes, nice find on the new tiles.
If it's going to be open and airy in the middle, and have large windows on the upper floor, then it doesn't need windows on the ground floor. Maybe even a large glass ceiling/dome (I know you like domes)...

Thanks guys. Somehow all those comments still do not make me want to watch Midnight Express again. Shudder.
Ruglud wrote:I know what this is now - the Infinity style 'dancing girls' gentleman's club !!!!
Hmmm, somebody suggested something quite different on another forum. Can you guess what?
Building is on hold for the moment. I've been painting minis again, and not just on Paint the Mini Sunday. And actually finished a few. Wanna see em?
No. Too bad here they are
These are from the D&D game Wrath of Ashardalon. They are of a plastic that I would say is inferior to Reaper Bones plastic. But perfect for practice, which I desperately need, since it has been a while since I finished a mini. And I need to work out some new ways to do things, because of some problems with my hands.
Tarak the Half-Orc Rogue, and strangely proportioned too.
Keyleth the Elven Paladin-- and this is a horrible mini. The face is bad. It has no hips. The hands are blobs. Ah well. It's done.
One of the Villains, a Kobold, Meerak
Another Villain, Bellax the Gauth, sort of a poor man's beholder.
Another villain, the Duergar Captain, Margrath
One of the monsters, a Cave Bear, but I painted it like a Panda. For grins
Because the minis are so, meh, I could paint them fast enough, and not worry to much about it. Those are the bases to which the minis are glued, so they won't change. I may eventually tidy up the blue bases or paint over them. Those are the character minis, so I think I'll keep the base colors different from the monsters and villains
And this little guy, not a D&D mini, but a marauder mini. Remember those, from the early days of WHFB? Goblins are always fun to paint.
I need to base it properly though.
And finally a WIP of Anyat. Not such a well lit photo, but it gives you an idea about the progress. Still weighing a few options about the mini. Right now the color scheme is close to what I am doing with some of my Pan-O minis. The B&W is a good way to see how the color contrasts add up. Looks like I may need to do something about the holster and the pouch on her hip. Maybe darken the hair too. Oh, and re-attach her arm.

However, it's real progress. I intend to paint some more while I try and figure out how I intend to finish off the not objective room. I'm not sure about a second storey now. I'm thinking a roof and a dome on a partial second storey. Too many doors and not enough interior space to be a proper Bathhouse . I would have to block the doors off, which is do-able, and build an annex or two or something else. We'll see. I'll worry about the interior later, once the exterior is done. The nice thing about having a removable floor is that I can treat it as two separate projects
Thanks for stopping by.

That Panda is fantastic. Probably my favorite sculpt of all of them. The Anyat is looking great. Don't be too concerned over the contrast alone, it helps when you have complementary colors near each other, but is less required when you have contrasting colors. I think the hair could do with a shade and a highlight rather than just making it darker.
Keep up the great work.

Thanks guys. The panda was something we joked about while playing the game, and it sounded like a fun idea to paint one of the cave bears that way. It was fun
Went back to chipping away at the table of shame. Here's a building I started in December of... 2013. Sigh. I finished the exterior "details" yesterday, except for the windows and doors in the area beneath the dome-- the faint lines where they will go may be visible.

Here's how it will dis-assemble
I will finish the building this month, and get it at least primed. But I've gotten the painting bug, so it may be all the scratch building I get done.
Anyat is finished-- although I may try to improve the hair a bit at some future point. I'm calling it an adequate paint job. My skills have atrophied so much. But I finally have a fully painted Infinity mini-- the rest are in various stages of base coating, or just primer.

I think it may help if I learn how to photograph minis.
Thanks for stopping by.

No, not armpit sniffing. Here, from another angle, she's drawing a dagger/knife/machete
Robo-catwalk babe. Good one But Anyat is a Morat-- affectionately called 'murder monkeys', and without the mask will look like one of these...
I opted against the gray color scheme because gray bores me, each and every shade of it
Quick addition to the building-- windows on the tower
And not room for a decent door, so I made this a window too
So I'll need to make some sort of stairway or ladder for the interior
Or Anyat can play Rapunzel. (yeah made that joke elsewhere, but it amuses me...)
I've decided this building gets a stepped terrace too. It will be an easy way to add more elevation to the table, and I have a few ideas how to make it unique.

First: vote here people http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/642603.page#7725776
Thanks Cam. Hope you can get back to building quickly after the RL stuff resolves. I
Thanks SJM. Those old goblins are so characterful. I have one more, a marauder wolfrider. I need to find an interesting mount for it though.
Quick update for the building: It is primed, and the terrace is roughed out.

As you can see, I made the terrace really big. I have some interesting ideas for it too. But I may need to experiment a bit first before I commit to anything. In case you are curious, the building scales to about 45' by 30'. So, a smallish single family house here in the US.
As for the tower, I went with a spiral (or helical) staircase. The PacMan shaped openin is where it will go. Anyat will not need to lend her hair as a rope ladder after all.

Vote early, vote often, at least in Chicago.
Textured and primed the building. Here it is next to the first small building

And I have the canyon effect I wanted. Although it took me 2 years to get to the point where I can see it.
Turns out that the Anyat mini is 38mm high. No wonder the doors and windows were looking a might smallish. That's one big ape there.
Here is the family shot of the small buildings so far
One more to go. And then one half building to construct. And that will finish the small buildings for the table. After I build the 2nd terrace, I plan on making 2 large buildings for it too, and finishing the contour building-- the one set in the hill. Most of the scatter is done, and just needs the finalizing-- detail painting, water effects. Then the final details. Got to figure out how to make a few skywalks. I still cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel with this table, but I do finally know that it is there.
Thanks for stopping by.

A steel carpenter's square and a sharp utility knife-- or boxcutter, this http://utility-knives.com/wp-content/gallery/utility-knives/Folding-utility-knife.jpg. Also, cut in two or three shallow passes rather than try to cut all the way through in one pass. I also use a fence so get the square cuts. And pull the knife through the cardboard rather than push it, if that makes sense. Ah, keep the blade at a fairly low angle while cutting. This also reduces tip breakage.
And of course, practice.
Cheers!
Unusual to see a Mod posting in a P&M blog though. We're such rooligans around here, us. Now if only the rest of the forum...

Thanks.
Peyote does grow in the deserts of the American Southwest, so 'trippy' fits. Anyat is all about the hair. Which is cool. The only other mini I have with such hair is the original Perdita Ortega sculpt. Someday, I'll paint that mini, or finish painting it anyway.
