I did some extreme highlights on the soul drinker (Orange red 1:1) for contrast, but havent done any one my BA, mostly because I thinke they look dumb when the turn orange.

Harsh words.. lol.

If you do a wash that compliments the red, as opposed to a black wash that makes the marine look "dirty" I would be cool with that.

My worry with washing miniatures is that the figures look more "out on campaign for 2 weeks" as opposed to "just spent the last 2 weeks polishing and waxing the armor" which is what I am kinda looking for.

Ahh, no worries, I use Baal Red on my reds anyways, maybe I'll give it a bit, may be to late tho. What do you think of your guy? I'm going to leave the scroll on his pad and the talberd (or whatever its called) clear of writing if you want to put something on it to bring the unit together, or a specific name or whatever. I'll have to leave off the matte spray as well, but I imagine you could handle that. What chapter(s) do you actually play?

I personally play variant Space Wolves (pics in my gallery here) and vanilla SM (Omega Chapter)..

But I also have Nids, Orks, SoBs, Tau and Eldar painted.. and working on Necrons and Daemons.. (no OCD here I swear!)

I don't mind if you put "writing like squiggles" on the scroll .. I will be naming him and putting his chapter on the base later on..

The army will be based and have a cohesive shoulderpad to tie it all togeather..

Ill have to return the favor and get you to paint me up some of your dudes as well. Several of us on Gitsplittas blog are talking about doing some model swapping, might be a good spot for you to pick up some more for your project as well. I think I got volintold to make a new blog about it, so keep an eye out for that.
I should get him done in the next day or two and get him back to ya, for some reason I've been in the mood to do modeling instead of painting this week.

I would love to participate in a model swap.. however, any of my "get of Freki" guys will have to be modified from my original models.. the OOP SW shoulderpad I have on all the guys is just too darn hard to find nowdays.. (although there is a similar one in the current wolfpack box that is close enough)

I have some OOP SW stuff, I'll check and see if there are any pads. I think its just bodies mostly.

Said model swap now has its own blog, for us to share and swap and all that fun stuff! Just like a regualr PM blog with all the fun of several people doing different things, should be interesting!

Once upon a time I was going to make DA my first army but instead for some reason (fluff mostly) went with BT and I don’t really regret the decision.

Still seeing you DA stuff makes me think of what might have been… *sigh* someday maybe when money grows on trees they shall be my second army.

Well the painted guys arent actually new, or done (no highlighting). And as far as the quality goes on some of the minor detail, they were some of my first models. I do plan on going back to touch them up (and dust them, gross!) but have SSSOOOOO many other models to do, it'll be awhile.
You can actually get DA pretty cheap. The "upgrade" pack comes with enough to make 10 guys for like 22 bucks! Don't get the DA Vets EVER! you get 2 of the same sprue in the upgrade kit, just not the sprue with the meltagun on it, and it costs like $8 more! No special weapons or anything on the upgrade other then power weapons and fists, but with what you probally have from doing BT, you can make a small army rather inexpensivly.
Im hoping that wasnt ment to be a insult Remos, because if you are going to insult people on dakka without helpful critisism you probally will want to look elsewhere for your 40k fix.

This needs an update, so here are my 2 guys that are done thusfar.
Ice Angels guy. Decided to give freehanding on the pad a go. I'm very happy with, but would like some feedback. I know the sword isnt perfect, but it was try #1 on doing it. Otherwise, yeah, there ya go.

So heres a story for ya, I was totally done, except for the little wicks on the candel. I had it brown and decided to wash it black. I knock the friggin thing over and dump half of it on my table...... ARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Almost forgot to mention, my Land Raider is just needed its guns finished up and thats done and my gamming table is built, has sand glued, and started making a road on it (trying an experement there, will post the details if it works how I want), then all it needs is paint and shes good to go as well.
Next up: DA for Solar Lion and DA for Sageheart, as well as a DA specific Plasma Cannon dude because someone asked what it looked like and I was too lazy to look for a pic, so I figured I'd paint mine up.
