The neon green is a great addition to the colour scheme. And top quality revagination work on those stranglers

Thanks guys, glad you like em (and they got to see paint). It was raining all day on and off, so that put a cramp in the other army pic plans. The nids seem to have liked the stoop so much, they spawned. I found around a dozen baby mantids around the door and wall today, the same basic brown color

You're probably safe unless they have a touch of bright green on them. If they do, well, better hope you can get them all while they're still tiny....

Lots and lots of raid! Or some good ol' fashion stomping! Monkeytroll is right though, the bright green will be a dead giveaway

I've got some not very good pics to share. This is nearly them same color as the Hellhammer, but it was like 11 by the time I got this far, so natural light wasnt much of an option.




I need your help Dakka. I have 3 different flavors of IG, and no idea what style to paint any of them. I need suggestions. I'd prefer something easy-ish. Lets start with guys that look like this:

Those tanks look great WM. I've got most of a baneblade but need to get side sponsons for it so I can finish it up. No idea what I'm going to do with it as I have NO guard... but I've always wanted one.

Type '40k Fellblade' in Google - first link is a post on Bolter and Chainsword. It appears in the Horus Heresy art books - it's basically a SM Baneblade.

WM: There is a ridiculous amount of firepower on that tank. LOL! As far as color scheme, I don't think it matters as long as you put a big red splotch in the middle of the chest and back to represent the bolter/shrunken/slugga round entry & exit wounds.

DSS: Cool! I'm just accumulating that series so I can read about it first hand! Be fun for pick-up games opponent's willing, especially for my early period army.

Dude! seriously good work! I love your Nids! i've always been a fan of the more natural shades of bug :-) and yours look great! the green as said previously is just enought to add contrast and a splash of colour to them to appear more alien, and your baneblades! omg! I love how they look....heavy, and kick ass! the dark paintjob makes them look really sinister! sweet work dude, keep it up please! :-)

I'll give it a try on one of the standing guys, pre-Simplegreen.

I have further plans for the tanks, but it involves finding my effing airbrush, which is lost in the abyss knows as the garages. I may just replace the things I want from the box.

Cool Nids love the stealers.

I say replace them and send the ones you eventually find in the abyssal garage to me!

I got my 3 Stealers and a Gaunt finished, but didnt think any more boring hoard nids needed pics (can take some if I'm wrong). Up next is a swarm of ripper swarms.

I did find out the Commisar I have is actually Colonial Gaunt of Gaunts Ghosts fame. Woo for second hand treasures!

Oh yeah, I tried your idea with the driver Tony, and quite like it. I went with fortress grey with a badab black wash, the facemask (and pants, when I do one with them) rotting flesh with Devlin wash, and yellow with sepia wash shoulders. I like that they are similar colors to the tanks, but different as well. I think they may get a serious run after the nids are "finished"

I've got some FW Shrike Wings and Carnifex Stone Crusher conversion kit, which cant go on the one I have (Its a used figure). There are some more coming in from a friend, and I think some from my brother for my birthday (maybe, might be IG or GK or something ). I'm hoping to beat wave 2 (if it ever comes out).

Yup yup, one of the ones in there is going to be for him. I did the tail bend trick and everything. I made them with the spinefists, if that works.

Use a lighter to heat and bend the tail so its not arrow straight. Looks a little more natural, but I wouldn't let T2 do it, its pretty easy to burn yourself or ruin the model. I practiced on some sprue first.

I wonder if my heat gun would work for that...

If you can aim it at just the tail, I'd give it a try. I wouldnt want to heat the whole model, not sure what that would end up like. You can try it on the one he is making for me if you'd like. It really gives them a more natural look as well.

If its something you want to head up, I'm all for it. There were a few things I didn't like about the conclave project, which was one of the reasons I didnt take part.
