I wish everyone played Necromunda. One of my mates gave me a load of stick the other day for playing/modelling for a dead game. I told him in no uncertain words that I'd convert him .
Arrrggghhhh bloody GW! The grot based scavvy I started painting has gone back to the modelling stage. There is no detail whatsoever on the models right shin (should be bandages like on the calf) or in the area just about the left wrist at the back of the gun barrel (should be the back of the barrel and top of the forearm). So on the shin I've added some rivets to make it look like an armoured plate. Above the wrist I've green stuffed on some cloth. I hate it when I don't notice things like this until I start painting (I also seem to find a tiny bit of mould line too ).
While I love the ease of working with plastics for converting etc I do prefer metal/resin models for their detail and how the paint goes on. I cannot explain the paint thing but it just seems to flow off the brush better.
Anyway sorry for such a ranty update.
Peter
Woo I've just won the original Nerco bounty hunter with big hair, bolter and bolt pistol

Not sure that Necromunda is a dead game despite its name. Seems to be pretty popular with the amount of threads and responses

Necro is hardly a dead game. It just seems to come in waves for gaming groups. It's easy to get people started because of the free rules and relatively low start-up cost if you convert everything.
The only problem is that many humans have the attention span of a toddler and very few stick to it.

I almost had a photo update for you this evening. Alas the pictures are just not turning out because the purity seal is not dry enough. I'm going away tomorrow morning and will be back on Saturday night, so hopefully on Sunday I'll be able to update with a semi decent pic of the short guy.
HELP - GW zombies just don't do it for me any more, if only they looked like the ones pulling the corpse cart (minus stakes). So does anyone know of any good Zombie miniatures that wouldn't look out of place next to GW miniatures? At the moment I'm thinking Mantic but unsure of the size since they don't do heroic scale. http://www.manticgames.com/Shop-Home/Undead/Zombies/Product/Undead-Zombies-Regiment-30-Figures.html . Hmmmmm If I buy a box of them I might just make that Mordheim undead warband i've been thinking about....
Chibi Bodge-Battle - dude you've come up with another use for that meat clever....you're right I'll need more green stuff too
Chibi and Spacebase - I don't think Necro is dead in the slightest. I find some people look at the slightly more complicated rules as a hindrance, whereas I find that extra level of detail lush. Same reason I love Inquisitor. I also agree that specialist games comes in waves for gaming groups, which for me is a shame.

I wanted to comment yesterday but I was worried about threadromancy )I ndon't really understand the subtleties of the rules on that).
Anyway you've revived it so it's all good!
I actually like the size of the meat cleaver. Sometimes I think that smaller weapons look scarier, like the guy who's wielding it really likes to get in close to the action. I'm planning on modelling one of my guys with a really short "shank" to test the theory .
Keep inspiring me!

The Mantic undead look the part.
Personally I wouldn't worry too much about them not being herioc scale as the Underhive does strange things to sizes.
Have a giany delaque heavy compared to what must be a Esher Juve who is tiny. Not sure what was going on with the sizing.

Hey chaps
Please meet Hervé (the first name of the actor who played Nick Nack from the Man with the Golden Gun)
Quite happy how he has turned out through I think the base over powers him, which was kinda the point.
Now every group of dastardly villains need a nemesis. So with that in mind I got the original Necromunda bounty hunter off ebay (a model I’ve wanted but never bothered getting). Anyway he arrived while I was away. Now I had never seen this model in the flesh, I’ve only ever seen him side on from the back of the source book. Now looking at him side on he looks just like the picture. Looking at him face on he looks really skinny, in fact he looks really skinny and odd along the mould line. I was wondering does anyone own him/seen him in the flesh? Does he look right to you?
Jackanory - I'm positive you can comment on something as long as its not months old.
Chibi Bodge-Battle Cheers, £18 for 30 zombies seems bloody good too. I guess you might shrink a bit if you're a zombie (right i'm off to watch Zombie Land hehe)
Thanks
Peter

Played a game called Zombies on Friday night!
I live next to a churchyard and haven't slept since
Herve should have been your hervy.
Hervy?... Heavy...?
ok that was the epitome of lame
Anyways he looks jolly good
There seems to be an inconsistency with the sizes and bulk with some necro figures, or is it just me missing something?
Don't think he looks too bad Peter. Proportionally seems okay so just put it down to lack of victuals in his neck of the Hive. Though he doesn't look beefy enough for close combat, he will be harder to hit in a gunfight!

@ Chibi - Theres a bit of inconsistancy wit size and bulk because a lot of models were released over a long time. I think that bounty hunter was when 'munda was first released. Which was a long time ago, so mini's have progressed alot since then.
@Peter - He does look a bit thin. Maybe a backpack or a slung autogun might make him feel less thin?

Chibi - Thanks oh and if you've got any more awful puns, please share them with us. Also pray tell how you play Zombies the game? (I remember watching a hypnotist called Derren Brown who got this poor guy to play an arcade game where you have a gun shooting zombies etc. Anyway the game put him to sleep though flashing lights whatever. Then the hypnotist gave him a fake gun and took him to a warehouse, that looked just like the location of the game. The bloke woke up as actors dressed as Zombies were shambling towards him. It was comedy and oh so mean!)
Ghosty and Chibi - The bounty hunter comes with a back pack (in the underhive having a bolt pistol and bolter is not enough, you need a chainsword and shotgun strapped to your back too!) but the models proportions just seem a little out. I thought it might be fake . Hopefully I'm just paranoid after reading the how to spot a fake model article and its just a bad cast and really is that thin.

Peter, about the horde of weapons on the Bounty hunter. You may think having 3 guns and a chainsword is bad, but the official loadout for a bounty hunter causes the mind to boggle.
You average run o' the mill guy can have:
Any amount of knives he can lay his grubby mitts on.
Bolt pistol with red dot laser sight
Boltgun/Lasgun
Chainsword
Shotgun with all the trimmings
respirator/filter plugs
Photo visor/contacts.
And then, any one of the following:
Bionic limb
Bio booster
Blindsnake pouch
mesh armour
weapon reload
So, to conclude, that guy is way too thin to carry that much gear, he's probably snap in two from the strain involved. I digress, you say the proportions are a little out. Your right there, but if you look at some other choice mini's from its era you'll find large hands big feet, and a general 'smallness' that is just so unnatural for the hc 28mm scale we're so used to. Im sure it's fine, and if you really do end up feeling you gotta bulk him out, Im gonna eagerly await the converting

Ghosty - lol. In the Community Edition of Necromunda that I'll be using from now on the bounty hunter also has a Hook Rope. http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=265598
No converting on this guy, sometimes its just nice to paint a model as is. Replacing for example the ammo clip that is miscast doesn't count as converting. I might wait until Bits and Kits get some of the new Forge World ye olde Bolters.

Most important order of business Tortured-Robot That sir is not the spirit. Specialist games are not dead they are just ignored by GW. Go grab a couple of friends and some random models and have a couple of games of whatever. Inquisitor is a favourite of mine the detail is just so much fun. All you need for that is what 4 models, play at 28mm scale and you've probably got the models already, just make sure you don't use space marines. In one game, set on Cadia during the 13th black crusade, we used a Khorne Berserker. He took out a squad of guardsman without breaking into a sweat. The funniest part was a guardsman jumping off a walkway to get away from the berserker and breaking his legs. Then the berserker jumping down onto the guardsman's chest and crushing his heart... there was a group wetting of pants at this point. So go play cool games with friends and if you fancy necro play nerco.
weetyskemian 44 and Ghosty - These are the bad boys I want to get my hands on. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/SPACE-MARINE-BOLTER-PACK-UMBRA-PATTERN.html. I really wished that forge world would do a kit with say three of each bolter type they have released rather than having to get 10 of same. Oh well wishful thinking.
Oh Chibi I think you went back a bit far... I always thought that a ye olde bolter was a grenade launcher

Herve is fantastic - you've managed to make him look really sneaky, which is tough for a GW model!
I don't know if this is still useful, but I dug out my version of the same bounty hunter model and took a photo from a similar angle. And in unflattering extreme close-up, no less! Only the torso and head section is original, but hopefully it can give you a comparison?
Looking forward to your next stuff

Not much to update this week. I've not touched a paint brush due to work being hectic, thus being knackered when I get home. Yesterday was meant to be a painting day but turned in to a hangover day (I blame a cocktail served in a tea pot). I've been reading the Enforcer omnibus. Finished Crossfire and its one of the best 40k novels I've read because it’s not all gun fights and heroics. Half of it comes across as treatise of the oddness and bickering within imperial culture. I now want to build a female model for my 5 man Arbite squad (I’d also like some riot shields and shock mauls but getting ones hands on Arbite models is difficult).
These guys were painted a while ago black/blue armour, gentle highlight, purity seal, watered down ‘Ardcoat. I didn’t like the sergeant’s helmet so I replaced it and then turned his helmet into a familiar. (I really need to work out how to get pics to look good in thread)
Scarper - Thanks. Herve was an unplanned but happy accident because I'd bought the grot box for the guns (The runt herd conversion is the same). The base was just to make him a bit fairer in game but it really adds to him. It looks like he is stalking. My plan with the blunderbuss guys is to get them up close using a zombie wall and then shoot anything when they get within 6".
As for the bounty hunter thanks again Scarper. Now I am convinced mine is a really bad cast. My chaps face is so much thinner than yours. So much for not converting him... I plan to cut his head off and replace it with a FW Cadian veterans. I’ll also replace the whole miscast bolter for an umbra pattern bolter.
weetyskemian44 - I got two of each FW type from bits and kits. These bolters are massive, especially the Phobos pattern which is also wide. They are so nice.... now I have all the parts I guess I should get on with my one off True Scale Iron Warrior.

I was going to update tomorrow but I've just got home from a local indie gig. It was pretty y, so I needed to listen to some decent music to end the evening (I've chosen Tool in case anyone's interested). Anyway....
This is my gangs chef. I reckon every Scavvy gang needs a chief and a chef. Mmmmm tasty succulent juve in the pot (though its more profitable to get ones meat clever on a heavy)
Helpmann - The Juve Catcher.
I'm happy how he has turned out. I think the meat clever works now I've cut down the handle. I tired Grey Deaths chaos lord recipe of Chainmail and dev mud on the clever. It didn't quite work so many layers of dev, chaos black wash later I'm super happy with it. I'm not sure you can see it in the pics but this guy is bald with stubble round the sides and back. As for my first attempt at sculpting a face.....I'm not sure but it was bloody hard to paint. Comments and pointers welcome.
While I've got a few ideas knocking about for my next 3 gang members (chief, winged mutant and a wyrd) I need a bit of a break from grubby Scavvies. So its onto the bounty hunter and my inquisitor's acolyte.
I'm in no rush to finish this gang now, I cannot see a campaign being run this year winter . But on the bright side we are planning a few games of =I= 28, I'm sure a few of these guys will take a part.
Take it easy

Cheers guys.
Chibi - Hows this for reasoning? Michelin Inspectors must eat a shed load of really tasty food. So by that rational I bet scavvies rate them pretty high on the menu, good crackling!?
Monkeytroll - No hardship on the gaming front, I prefer lumps of plastic on the painting/modelling table than the gaming table anyway. Next weekend I may actually try for a game of 40k. It must have been a few months and I have to admit I'm itching (no pun intended) to get my Death Guard out.
weetyskemian44 Gorden Ramsey! Actually I can imagine Helpmann using that kinda language
Now today has been a bit of a washout with the weather... instead of a cricket pitch behind my place I've now got a lake (I wish I was exaggerating). Though Abi and I did have a good day staying in... Quantum of Solace and Zombie Land . Surprise surprise this got me thinking about zombies. So another look for Mantic Zombies I found a video of them, that even has one standing next to a Space Marine http://www.beastsofwar.com/kings-of-war/kings-war-zombies/. I'll be ordering a box...when I've finished a few more of the gang. So I got working on the scavvies again....in fact a special scavvy that has a whiff of blood and sea about him....

madmartykmf - Its the 30 pack I'm planning on getting too. I have to say I approve of Mantic's pricing, model count per box and the idea. Though I'm not a massive fan of their miniatures, on the whole. I was sent a Mantic elf sprue with something I ordered and the two elves were darn horrible. If GW had some nice zombie models (as I said before like the corpse cart ones) I would be buying them straight away without even considering Mantic. Fortunately Mantics undead range do look ok and the Zombies are nice (I think I'll have one holding a lasgun,as a club, instead of holding his mates arm).
On the bright side when I get the Zombies at least I'll be able to start my Undead Mordheim warband. Which will be including some of these too http://www.heresyminiatures.com/hv020.htm" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> http://www.heresyminiatures.com/hv020.htm and for when I roll "the lads got talent" http://www.heresyminiatures.com/hv024.htm.
