Ooooo models...

I think the heavy stubber looks a bit on the large side. I agree with Yggdrasil about the gun strap it needs to be tight... I'm also wondering what he is doing with his right hand behind the strap?

I like the gang name and the hammer theme you're now going for. Not a fan of the shotgun, again as Yggdrasil said, it looks like a lasgun...maybe add a bandoleer like in this http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?141308-Valhallan-veterans-using-Vostroyan-models" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?141308-Valhallan-veterans-using-Vostroyan-models. I really like the autopistol.

I always take plasma gun with my Cawdor...plasma guns are fantastic though I've never run two of them. It depends on how much terrain you're planning on using imo if Heavy Stubbers are worth it. Lots of terrain and I find that I cannot see anything for the long shots in gang fights... attacking in an ambush though a heavy stubber can be amazing and brutal. I always arm my stubber heavy with an autogun too, just to make sure he can move and still shoot.

Whist on the subject of rules...I recommend the Necromunda - Community Edition http://anthony-case.me.uk/necromunda for anyone starting out or getting back into Nerco

The more I think about it, the more sure I am that I'm going to go for the two plasma gun option, I like the more high tech feel. Looking at the pictures of the running Juve, and the model itself I'm not too happy with the GS work on the legs, so I'm going to have another go at fixing that.

I know what you mean about the shotgun, it's not very shotgunish (if that's even a word), so I'll look at that again tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice

Good to see you got straight back into them.

Like the new guys, along with others I think the stubber's strap needs to be tightened and the shotty needs re-doing. It looks cool, just more of a las-carbine than a shotgun.

I'm happy to see you didn't let it get you down to much. Right back on the horse, so to speak.

And the new gang is coming along great. The leg bending came out very well and I like the hammers and the auto gun. Dido on the shotgun and the heavy looks more like a superheavy to me.

I like the name and it sounds like the fluff is coming together as well. I can't wait to see more.

Sorry it's been a while since any updates, after losing half the gang I really wasn't in the mood for finishing the rest. Finally though, I decided to get my finger out, and here's what I've got done recently.

I did the Ogryn while waiting for some new servitors to arrive. I don't expect to use him in any games, but I needed to paint something. The idea I have for my Gang Leader is that he was an Enginseer for an abhuman regiment who deserted after it was decided that an audit would be carried out on the regiment's retirement fund. "Brains" was his assistant/bodyguard.

I decided to go with two plasma guns for the heavies, I like the idea of having high power weapons when I need them, or slightly weaker weapons for "day to day" use, and I think plasma guns fit the bill perfectly.

The guy running is going t be one of my Juve's. He's the second servitor I've converted to run, and definitely my last, it's too much hard work cutting and repositioning those legs.

The final two are gangers, one with lasgun slung over his back, the other with shotgun/autocarbine/lascarbine (I've not really decided yet).

Still to do is a Ratskin Scout (nice and easy), Leader (Astropath model with staff removed and chainsword added), Juve (with autopistol and club) and two gangers (for these ones the weapons will be held two handed across the body).

Now that I'm back in the swing of things I'm very tempted to keep going and make a full platoon of them. It wouldn't be the cheapest of armies, but still cheaper than one of the forge world ones....

Nice....you could always use the Ogryn bodyguard rules....They were in a Fanatic Magazine if I remember correctly.....

Forgotten Guns http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=79749

I really like your guys the skin tones is really nice and warm and the metal areas contrast nicely. The idea you have for the leader sound interesting. Let me know how running two plasma guns works out for you.

Nice work! The gang evolves nicely! By the way, how do you paint the flesh on your minis?

Always outnumbered, never outgunned.

Hey

From memory, the mix I use for the skin is a 1:1 mix of dwarf flesh and bleached bone. I then wash it with a mixture I made up a while ago in a big batch. Unfortunately I can't really remember how I made it up.... It's very watery, so I generally use about three coats, it's probably a watered down devlan mud.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but I always add a small drop of washing up liquid to my pots of washes, I always think it helps to break the surface tension. It's probably just a habit I've picked up over the decades, and doesn't make much difference to the finished mini.

The gang is looking great. It's quite a comeback.

I laughed when I saw the big guy, though. He seems very puzzled by something. I think he looks great, but the belt buckle could use a peg in the middle (horizontally), or a solid buckle perhaps. Good fluff for him too. I can see him listening to the Enginseer as he rambles on about whatever he is working on.

You could make a very cool guard army like this?

I like them, but I can't help but think they just don't make me think 'van saar' very much. I had always pictured them as the kind of guys who would drive a ferrarri in a street race instead of a muscle car, or ride a japanese crotch-rocket instead of a harley. The servitor bits base make them look like some kind of cyber-homeless; like junkyard cyborg gear with a very clunky low-brow look to it. I had thought the van saar clan was very meticulous and polishy about its gear. Hey it's necromunda, where if you are carrying a boltgun you are livin' large as king of the neighborhood. The origional Van Saar guys had the same guns as everyone else, just their looked like high class models. ("oohhh designer lasguns!") Cyborg bits on the whole gang means a very very rich gang.
Either way, they are very creative conversions and very cool. My Orlocks would cower and pack up their stub pistols and go hide in their 50's diner to put in some more hair grease, waiting for them to clunk on by.

I'm both chaotic and orderly. I value my own principles, and am willing to go to extreme lengths to enforce them, often trampling on the very same principles in the process. At best, I'm heroic and principled; at worst, I'm hypocritical and disorderly.
