I will likely be purchasing one of the large Orc deals, but not pre-ordering it... have to get the funds together first. I agree about the boars especially looking nice... looking forward to seeing the armored orcs!

My thoughts exactly. I hope it's more like the latter. GW's Orcs (and the Mantic 3up) are lame IMO, they look cartoonish and stupid. The guy on the boar however looks fantastic.
Cosmic wrote:I am very intrigued also. I was speaking to one of the dudes from Mantic and he said that the first two Sci-fi races were going to be Orcs and Dwarfs. Many people - apparently - have remarked upon the Dwarfs' rifles resemblence to Lasguns. I also asked whether or not the Dwarfs would get any tanks and such. He said he couldn't say. Expect to see ALLOT from Mantic this year!
I kind of think that their current Elves look slightly sci-fi too. I'm really hoping for Space Undead!
I've heard that rumour too, but I really hope you're wrong. Not only because I'm still not interested in buying Orcs or Dwarves or any of the other races Mantic has made to date, but also because the use of plastic/metal hybrids instead of new kits will make the new game twice as expensive.

I want to see some more and a couple of gunlines before I call it.
You got those Orks with Spears? Axes? Whats thier weapons loadout?
The Ork 3 up was nice, but how does that models appearence compare to the rest of the army? Are they all that same look? How do the armored ones look in a unit?
No comments on THAT snotling, but how about bringing back the one thats flipping you off. I always liked that one the best.
At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Agreed
Mantic recently has been a bit spotty with their reveals. It took at least x2 weeks before the abyssal dwarves were fully revealed and yet still took preorders when we only had x2 painted figs up and concept art

I'm hoping that they'll be able to be built with more than just shields. If I can build these guys up with additional hand weapons then my Orc army will be set. If not...well, I'll have to fiddle around with some conversions before I know if they're right for me.
I do hope Mantic's sci-fi range includes human sci-fi civilians. Good non-medieval civilian models are like diamond dust...
MeanGreenStompa wrote:I am really liking the boars, provided there is some variety and poseability with them.
They remind me of the boar mounts from WAR which are far better than the GW ones.
Exactly what I was thinking. That War Boar rider, and his armour and everything, reminds me a lot of the brutal looking Orks from the Warhammer Online high-res movies they made to advertise the game.
Loving the Mantic Orcs personally, both the preview sculpts and the stuff that is going into production. I couldn't care less if there is slightly less room for pose dynamics than GW stuff - the price of the Mantic stuff more than compensates for that.
As you may already know we are already giving away a free Goblin Sneek with every order over carriage paid – and a bagful of hobby extras for orders over £50 (including Paint brushes, army painter flock and clippers).
But that simply isn’t enough to celebrate a landmark birthday – so as a big birthday bonanza – I thought we would plunder the special treat box!
So until midnight tomorrow we are giving you 15% off* everything on our website! We mean everything, nothing is excluded. So head over to our webstore now!

This sucks. If they would just make an army that I give a damn about.....

Not really but the new ones wouldn't really match the old ones too welll.

Whoa, with the excitement of Infinity week I totally missed this gem; Beasts of War has a video of the Orc sprue! Things are much more advanced then I had thought.
These sprues are apparently newer then-new, just out of the machines on the test runes, to hear Andy say it in the video.
This production run seems (to me, anyway, in the very limited view from the video) more like the Orcs that we first saw, closer to the GW style then the later boar rider Orcs.
Interesting...

It may look more like the first, but it still looks good.
Is the army deal such a good buy simply because it's a pre-order? I'm looking at their abyssal dwarf stuff, and it seems like the orcs are a better deal... over 100 for 75 pounds!
I got the Mantic email with the Berserkers for the Abyssal Dwarfs (probably one of the next things in line after the Orcs, due out at the end of May with a limited number available in army deals) and am now being tempted in that direction.
Either way, my next army will be Mantic, though!
(Edit: I may have answered my own question about the costs, it looks like Abyssal dwarfs are plastic/metal hybrids, so I imagine that ups the cost a bit over just plastic)

That's correct. Mantic's plastic/metal hybrids are about the same price as GW's plastics, for both 10-man boxes and Battalions, while their plastics are half that price.

They look interesting although there are even less bodies than normal so things are going to look samey after a while. time will tell if they'll hit or miss. These will appeal a lot more than wf ones though
Chibi Bodge-Battle wrote:Why did they do that anyone please?
The abyssal dwarves? I guess becuase for a infamous army in warhammer, its a niche of a niche and they dont think its too profitable to make a whole new plastic line.
