New Rhino is looking very good. Especially liked the old Jugger head (and really, it's all I can think of using it for nowadays... I'm a romantic for the old miniatures but the new Jugger just stomps the old one)

Evening brothers! Thanks once again for all the positive comments, it really keeps me motivated. To prove it, I have an update for you....

Got my "counts as" Abaddon finished, although he now goes by the name Akilleus Bloodglutter:

Fairly minor conversion work done to him, although I did file down the Black Legion symbol and sculpt a more fitting World Eaters symbol for him:

Finally, here he is hanging out in the warp with his buddies (i.e. the rest of my HQ):

Hope you like him brothers, let me know what you think!

@Heliodore: Thanks for bringing that to my attention, not sure how I missed out on it the first time round!

Nice, I really like the basing!
No prob, I consider myself somewhat versed in obscure 40K kits and vehicles, and I only learned about that particular Chaos kit a few months ago from the Dakka thread I previously posted!
I hope you can get all the pieces to make one!

Hail brothers! Another update this way comes...

I finished off the third Rhino for the army:

I'm going to take a short rest from my World Eaters to finish off my Daemons and make a proper start on my Ogres, but with a new codex on the horizon and a bunch of awesome FW stuff out (Blood Slaughterers & Decimator in particular), I doubt it will last too long! And there are still those Terminators sitting on my desk... As always, I welcome your comments!

Fantastic work as always! The Akilleus Bloodglutter conversion is simple but effective (side note- am I the only person that thinks the fanged CSM head looks like a Space Wolf? Ever notice how perfect the Space Wolves heads look on CSM bodies? Hmmm. Hmmmmmmmmm) and the Rhino came out great! Really enjoy the random bits from ages past. It's almost like a search puzzle. Can you find the Rogue Trader and 2nd Ed era bits? Ha.

However, I really dislike the easily broken chainsword ram bar. It's a purely practical opinion vs. an aesthetic one. I know the model is done, but I think you should re-consider the structural integrity and durability of the model in a tabletop environment.

Looking forward to those Terminators!

Evening chaps,

Not really an update as such, but I was just sorting out a few models and thought I'd give you a look-see at my "still-to-be-painted" Legionnaires...

(The terrifying thing is that this isn't even the complete collection...)

A quick description, from the top:

In the bags (top left) are old school Noise Marines, and top right are a couple of old Nurgle guys (the one in the bag is the Palanquin-riding Meltagun wielder)
Next row are a bunch of Slaanesh renegades.
Next row down are a bunch of Tzeentch renegades and disc riders.
Third row down are a variety of Khorne renegades/World Eaters/Chaos Champions.
The penultimate row are a bunch of generic renegades, including a Meltagunner and Power Fist.
And the final row... Chaos Squats!!

I literally cannot wait for 6th edition and the new Chaos Codex so that I can make use of all these guys (and more)!!

WOW! That is an AWESOME collection! I am hard-core jealous. I recently traded off the last of mt RT CSM becasue I knew I would never get around to painting them and they went to a great hone w/ someone that will actually paint and play them... but no matter what I'll always have that twinge of regret that I don't have them anymore. After all, I might want to paint up a RT-only army when I'm 60. Oh well.

Really looking forward to what you do with those! And if you ever get sick of those Plague Marines... just sayin'... you know, in case you do... drop me a line. Plague Marines always have a home in my Death Guard.

Good evening to you brothers!

I have the smallest of updates for you (so don't get too excited)....

With the advent of 6th edition, I decided to paint up another objective marker for the World Eaters (given that sometimes you will need 6 primary objectives, and I only had 5):

That's right, it's a lovely warm bowl o blood! I like to think of my troops anointing themselves in the blood of a powerful daemon or champion to gain their prowess.

That's it for now I'm afraid... I'm eagerly awaiting the new codex so that I can expand the army to Apocalyptic proportions!

Very nice effect in the bowl... love the swirling red to black.

Did you paint that black to red blood design on a flat surface or is it molded?

Wow, you have a really well painted and unique force! Big fan of updating old models and still getting use out of them after all these years. Keep it up!

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!

Hail brothers!

Well you'd be forgiven for thinking that I'd forgotten about this army, but that certainly isn't the case! With the new codex in my (daemonic) possession, you'll be seeing a lot more activity from me over the coming months! Just to prove it, I have a little taster for you:

Yup, that's a whole bunch of renegades on my painting table (and that isn't even all of them)... I sure have my work cut out for me!

Greetings brothers! Well progress on this army has been painfully slow recently, but I do have something of an update for you... The new codex basically invalidated a lot of my previous choices (boo), but did give me a whole bunch of new ones (yay)! The first of these is my new Chaos Lord, Ardenor Crush (a cookie if you know where that name is from...):

Yup that's right, he's riding a super old school Jugger. That thing in his left hand is a relic from a very distant time (Slaves to Darkness) known as a "Spawngoad". It's essentially a very pointy stick used to make spawn go where you want them to! The reason for that will become apparent right about now...

The first three (of five) in my Chaos Spawn unit. The idea behind them is that they are a bunch of creatures (rare xenos, chaos creatures) from the World Eater fighting pits, unleashed and goaded into battle...

Let me know what you think!

Ardenor Crush - Baldur's Gate?

Wonderful looking army too, one of my best friends runs a World Eater's force and I definitely appreciate seeing this more classic look to the legion on the tabletop. I'm a fan of the plague marines as well, very smooth look (for lack of a better word) which I think looks fantastic.

Ah Nox, it may have taken a while but it was worth the wait I`ve struggled a lot myself on direction with the book as there where no clear paths to take really. Still, good to see you`re at it again!

@Gits: it`s indeed a zoat. And the old Scyla modell and the Fen beast from the WHFB Albion campaign if I`m not mistaken.

Good call there Red (as I'd expect from a fellow old school enthusiast)! That is indeed a Zoat, Scyla and a Fenbeast

@Neconilis: The name is indeed from the legendary Baldur's Gate (he's the creepy smart Hobgoblin, leader of the Chill)

It's been a while since I've been here, glad to see an update and that's one wicked collection of RT CSM you have there. Nice conversion on the Jugger Rider. He had a PF and a CS originally, yes? I know I have a couple of them in my Khorne army but they haven't been a 'legal' model in years.

Hoping you're back on this project for a while, would really like to see where it goes from here.

It's just army painter strong tone over the top of GW bleached bone, easy peasy

Thanks brother! He did indeed have a PF and CS originally (in fact you can see the original model earlier in the thread, leading one of my Zerker squads).

Got a small update for you this evening. Got the two remaining spawn assembled and undercoated, and here they are all together:

What do you think? The army is progressing at a painfully slow rate, but you can blame my daemons and the fact that I've actually been playing (and indeed winning!) some games

That is a great collection of miniatures for your Spawn. Really like the Ambul and Zoat in there. Your collection of old stuff is excellent.

Hail brothers!

Breaking news: I'm selling the army!!

Well now that I have your attention, that isn't strictly true... but I am selling a lot of the stuff I don't use these days. Check out my eBay listings if you're interested (got a bunch of other GW bits on there too), I'd really like it to go to a good home

Listings are here

Don't worry though, I'm not quitting the hobby (in fact I'm getting back into it in a much bigger way than before) and I'm still continuing with this blog. Just clearing some space for when I move later in the year!

Those are some excellent models. I miss the RT days a lot and those models are very well painted. The Land Raiders are sick! I hope you get £££ for those!

Shame about the 'UK only' mailing, though I totally understand. I bought a Chimera on eBay from a Canadian guy and it's been 35 days, no Chimera. Seller is aware and I don't expect anything negative of this, I'm just wicked bummed that I didn't get my Chimera.
