OK, given that... You could consider gold and white? That would be striking and would not have the issue of conflicting metals. Golds are pretty easy to make to a decent standard... start with the darker gold (burnished?), then a lighter gold (shining?) highlight. Wash with sepia (or chestnut), then a light shining gold highlight. Makes a pretty convincing gold with a lot of depth.

If you want to stick with the silver, don't wash w/ the light blue, go with a dilute badab black. The blue of the wash dilutes the impact of the eyes & makes them look like a mistake or unfinished area.

i agree with this, try out a white it will look more like yr pic and will contras well

My eye isn't triple its normal size, so I have actually painted some of Lucifer's vet. Not much really, only basecoated the green parts of the armour and worked the sword a little, but its something

Git: Your marine was sent out today. I finally remembered that I was gonna send you a message. You have a PM now

However, if you are thinking the one I mailed you.. I think the blue should be visible.. no?

That might very well be. I was once painting an ultramarine and used an Ice Blue for an edge highlight. Then I washed the whole model with Sepia and it looked likeI had used Fortress Grey or something to edge highlight the guy..
