BBL.. looks great.. paint looks a little chunky, but workable.. (unless that is camera issues) and thanks for leaving off the basing and the shoulderpad.

Is he a Blood Angel? I assume so due to color and blood drops.. if he is, that is fine, I will just work a bit harder to fit him in the force I am collecting..

So I got the time today to finish Battle Brother Lucfer's marine, which is actually also my first ever tactical marine I've painted up in the chapter's colours ( I'm really bad at getting my army painted up, which is why I thought this thread may help me out. )

I may need to touch up the heraldry on his right shoulderpad however, as I noticed the red spread a little, as well as that bit of gold on the pack exhaust.

Fixed that for you

@whalemusic360: Took me a second to see it initially, but I was suitably impressed when I realised what it was Those weapons are *huge* - certainly Orky calibre Looking forward to seeing it with Orky bitz - once you finish choosing them and I send them. Not looking forward to working out how to transport it... Feel free to post any pics in Da Dark Angelz thread too.

@Gitsplitta: Undercoat complete. Painting has started. No pics yet...

@tony_nids_10: Sent a PM to you last week to start thinking about your trade. If I don't hear from you by the time I get my new glue, I'll start negotiations with Artsoldier35.

I'll bite...

First: nice job, far better with more advanced techniques than my first, second or several dozenth marine. I like the contrast between the orange and silver, the paint job is neat and clean and your freehand is excellent (I can't even see that small much less paint it). Nice job on the basing too.

There are several suggestions I have that you may want to consider...

1. I can still see the mold lines, even without zooming in. Use a hobby knife or needle fine to remove them before priming the figure, be thorough.
2. The silver still seems too bright to me. Think about a general wash with badab black first, then a dry brush with your silver over the top to bring the volume back up on the high spots. Then you can line with a colored wash in the crevices (as you've done here) if you want to add a further color tone to them.
3. The gold and silver together don't work well. Just too much shiny metallics. consider making the cover on the bolt gun a complimentary non-metallic color, perhaps one of the colors from the shoulder pad. Same goes for the trim on the back-pack and shoulder pads. Maybe a contrasting color like black or white would work better for the shoulder edging.
4. Paint the eyes a contrasting color, maybe with a small white highlight in each to catch the eye.
5. Kind of hard to tell, but the silver and gold look a little thick. Dilute them down a bit and you'll use less detail and have a better surface on the big plates.

Overall a nice job. With a little tweaking you'll be right in the thick of it!

Finished the build on Arakasi's Bug Boy... added a 3-stage retractable (car antenna) boss pole / radio receiver / bionik ear.

I like him... he makes me smile. Size comparison is imposing... that marine is what... 8' tall?

Sage's guy went out today, the rest will go out as soon as I can find some little boxes. I think a Staples trip is called for.

I think BBL's guy came today, from how it was described by someone who doesn't play 40k (IE, my dad).

Has anyone talked to Ramos in awhile? I know he went back to school, so Im sure hes busy, just wondering.

Thanks ^^
The problem with this unit of marines is They're already pre-assembled, so I'm going to have to keep the mold lines in mind for future builds.

As for the colouring, my aim was for the silver and gold scheme with the blue eyes, as with my avatar, though unfortunately the blue is lost amongst the mithril when it comes to paint, i may have to try and see a way of dulling the gold, perhaps with my chestnut ink, and likely change the bolter casing, though the colouring on the right shoulder pad differs from unit to unit, as I'm trying to go with a medieval knight theme.

Although I could try and NMM the armour, but wouldn't have the first clue where to start.

I envision I will see him this coming Monday. He games at the same store I do on Monday nights, and we beat each other up occasionally (on the tabletop)..

In fact, he is PROBABLY the first battle for the Deathwatch Strike Force when it gels.. lol..

If they are assembled that dont mean you cant take off some of the mold lines. From the pics you can easly access them and shave them off

P.s. Sorry guys i finish iceangels marine yesterday but had alot things to do just have to retouch it and take pics and ill post later on today.

sage your still WIP

*looks at your avatar*

OK, given that... You could consider gold and white? That would be striking and would not have the issue of conflicting metals. Golds are pretty easy to make to a decent standard... start with the darker gold (burnished?), then a lighter gold (shining?) highlight. Wash with sepia (or chestnut), then a light shining gold highlight. Makes a pretty convincing gold with a lot of depth.

If you want to stick with the silver, don't wash w/ the light blue, go with a dilute badab black. The blue of the wash dilutes the impact of the eyes & makes them look like a mistake or unfinished area.
