 Loving the tiny details, like the pumpkins. Is the OSL coming out of the grave going to have a skeletal hand sticking out of it, beacuse that would be amazing!

@IPS: Thanks for the comment! Sure, I'll take some even closer shots of the Halloween dude when he's completely done. In the meantime, why not have a look at one of my Step by Step Painting tutorials?
@Farty Wiffmas: Cheers. I was considering a skeletal arm (heck, at first I had planned to do a huge pumpkinheaded plant daemon thing but there wasn't the time to do that) or a tentacle or something but I think that would overdo the whole thing a little. It's kind of campy as is but still kind of moody and I think I'll keep it like that. Still, I was considering the hand on and off whilst painting.
Now - What's this:
...and here's the answer:
It's just the things I used to mount the infantry on while priming/basing them really. Fogot to take pictures of when the infantrymen were on the wooden stick. It looked like a guardsickle! Just dunk it in batter, fry it an' it's good eatin'!
Lookie, Epic 40k stuff:
Basically everything on there is WIP except for the tanks and gunships. I know what you think about the titan now ("that's not what superawesome titans look like at all! This is what superawesome titans looks like!") but well... the main objective was to make it fit with the army. Some colour will be added to the model though and it gets a snazzy resin base. Next thing will be to ask the client if I he wants me to paint the "Helmets" on the infantry white (he just said he wants a desert-themed army to go with the table) because that will make them look like really cool Tallarns and Epic Tallarns is darned snazzy. Just imagine putting one of those on a Leman Russ!
Seriously though, these are some nice models and if you're looking for 6mm (cough cough) Tallarns, look no further. Four different poses on the infantrymen as well.
Anyhoo, you can tell that I'm tired because I always start rambling and link to random youtube videos when I'm writing tired updates. So please bear with all the text and gnight! Oh, and leave comments. Tons of them.

They look great Sig! Always amazed at how you get so much detail on such small figs.
Are they actually Epic 40k models? Or are they from a different manufacturer?
The titan looks great, im a huge fan of camo titans, so its a win in my book! However, i do feel one of the "shin-guards" could be blocked out in heraldry and Legio colours, would make it much cooler imo.

@Vitruvian XVII: Thanks muchly! Those models are actually from DarkRealm Miniatures if my memory serves me right. The infantry is called "Industrial Infantry". Four different poses on the regular infantry, 40 a pack, 4 british pounds a bag. Pretty good value for money I'd say and very nice Tallarn stand-ins. Thanks for the suggestion on the Titan. I somewhat incorporated that in the final model.
@dantay_xv: Thanks for the great compliment. Maybe if I ever visit a Games Day I might enter for fun. Would include travelling to Germany or some place that actually has a Games day. Have I ever told the sad story of Austria's first and only "Gaming Day"? Yes, they called it that to make sure nobody confuses it with a real Games Day. It did have everything a real Games Day had (painting conpetition, big tournament, forgeworld, exclusive miniature of that year, ...), just the tournament wasn't called "grand tournament", you couldn't win "Golden Daemons" and so on. It was 100% official by GW, got WD coverage and so on but somehow it was denied its status. Also, it was only done once. Sad thing, really. Oh, on top of that all, I didn't even go because I was too lazy. Maybe that's the reason they never did another one. :S
@nerdfest09: Cheers!
Hey, guys. Here comes the Dreadfleet:
(don't ask how much like a derp I felt for watermarking every single little bit )
(this one's included twice in the box)
(I freehanded the pentagram)
Right, I think that's enough for today. There's lots more pictures coming up of course. Plus, Epic IG army shots! (which I'll have to take inside somewhere because it's an as dark and murky October day as you can ever imagine). Hope you like the stuff, more coming up, comments and feedback of any kind are welcome as always!

No army shots of the Epic Tallarns yet because I've had a stupid idea for the presentation of these guys which will take a few more days.
In the meantime, here's the first WIP of a Dark Angels captain:
It's been aaages since I last painted a Dark Angel. Very interesting.

@VitruvianXVIII: Hm, interesting. I usually don't highlight one GW green with the next lighter one because they are really different in tone.
@Commander Cain: Oh, there's tons of stuff in there. Really a lot. And keep in mind how each of the ships is a completely individual model. About the same painting effort as a small monster on a 40mm base I'd say.
Hey guys, do you have any plans for tonight? I'm afraid I don't so I might as well do some painting to get ahead on Dreadfleet. As you're probably aware, there's a Dreadfleet painting competition going on tomorrow at GW stores all over the world and I thought I'd bring some of the ships there. Problem is that the Heldenhammer and the Bloodreaver aren't finished and I don't think I'll be able to finish both tonight so I thought I'd focus on the Heldenhammer for now.
This is the state of things:
...the aim is to finish this ship tonight. Doesn't sound like much but I think that these sails designs will require a LOT more work. Wish me luck!

I know it's been said before and nearly every time you update pics! your work is beautiful! but I am just amazed at the quality of your 'flat work' those sails just cement you as one of the finest mini artists out there! I love looking at what you produce! even if i have absolutely no interest in boats at all! these still draw me in to enjoy!
and I also quite like the dark angel captain you're working on, I bet he will be great as usual, don't get tricked into highlighting him like a salamander! :-)
keep it up siggy you moustachioed leather clad painting god! (if your avatar is still accurate that is!)

Siguar, that is quite superb. It manages to put GW's own 'Eavy Metal offering to shame and does it with so much more class. Not a huge fan of Dreadfleet in general (what a waste of a release....) but you've done it justice with the NMM/sheen effect on those sails!

Thanks for the comments, guys!! I'm in a bit of a hurry right now. I will reply to your comments later but thanks very much. Just dropping by to report that I won the Halloween painting competition (with the necromancer diorama) and the Dreadfleet painting competitition at GW today. Here's a few more pictures: See you soon! P.S.: It's very hard to see in the pictures but the writings on the Heldenhammer's sails say "SISTE! TEMPUS MALLEI" which is (probably a gramatically incorrect) latin version of "Stop! Hammertime". P.P.S.: I love Dakka's new look!

Right, time for replies...
@nerdfest09: Thanks for all these compliments.
@majortom11: Thanks muchly! I didn't use the Secret Weapon washes on the sails but I did use them on the decks of some of the warships. I wouldn't really dare to use inks/washes of any kind over larger, curved, basically untextured surfaces. As for the price - there's a lot of models in this box but it looks really really great all together.
@GiraffeX: Thanks muchly. It worked well - I won the local "best fleet" and "best ship" competitions.
@MakeH: Thank you!
@DarkStarSabre: Haha, thanks very much. It's always very satisfying to get praise for minis people initially don't really like. I view Dreadfleet as a very interesting and welcome change. They made up their minds about the ruleset really, merging the random wackiness of GW boardgames with BFG but introduced an alternate activation mechanic rather than I-go-you-go which I think it a really commendable job by GW, finally getting out of these old patterns. The models are really pretty, very high quality and it's something new for a change. I like it but I can see that there's many people who don't.
@IPS: Thanks and good luck. ^^
@Vitruvian XVII: Thanks.
@MakeH: Thanks!
@Thatguy91: Heheh, I'll deliver more pictures as quickly as I can.
@Dysartes: Unfortunately not in the near future, even though the Death-as-Hogfather is really tempting me. Your eyes do not betray you - the Black Kraken is built and run by a "renegade Dwarf" (No mentions of chaos dwarves) if I remember correctly. Maybe an indication that the projet has been around for longer than two years before The Forge redid the Chaos Dwarves.
*splork, clank, clank, clank, whirrr* Dark Angel finished!
Well-meaning wide shot:
A mean closer-up:
An interesting one:
Hope you find the sight enjoyable. Now about that older (1990) DA captain - I just got him today when I went to Vienna Fantasy Gaming Con (quite possibly my favorite gaming event all year). Here comes the bloggy text wall part so bear with me. Or feel free to skip.
Like last year it was very much fun, I met with some people there and bought lots of awesome second hand stuff (because that's what the con is there for really). Had to restrain myself from getting HeroQuest and a third Space Crusade. Yeah, I don't own a copy of HeroQuest. It's weird, I know. But I've had friends who had the game most of the time. However I could not restrain myself from getting a 2nd edition box of Talisman even though I got the revised 4th edition. That was a rather impulsive buy I have to admit, especially as lateron I saw 1st edition (also German) for twice the price but having three Talisman games in the house would have been silly. You can question my weird definitions of "silly" there if you like. I think you're entitled to.
Here's what else I got: Dark Heresy rulebook in great condition for one third of the retail price (probably the most useful and best buy all day), 1st edition Warhammer Roleplaying game rulebook, an original Rhino all on sprue with box and awesome decals (including all the popular chapters' icons! Mantis Warriors! Red Scorpions! White Consuls! Those griffon dudes! Space Sharks! And many more!), Black Ark of Naggaroth and that Dark Angels dude. All in all there was so much stuff there I would have loved to get as well but I'm running out of space as it (I'm sure many of you will face similar problems). Would have loved to pick up some really exoteric and weird roleplaying games rulebooks and maybe some historical tabletop wargaming rulebooks and I really had my eyes on a very cheesy-looking box of a roleplaying system. The boxart (it looked like something you'd find en masse on deviant art) was basically some furry ladies in overalls with guns and the box said that the game was intended for adult audiences. Perfect christmas present for roleplaying friends, right? :evilgrin: Didn't get it in the end because I really didn't dare to ask for it. :-P
Apart from that, the rest of the weekend has been pretty eventful as well (as you may have read on other painting logs I do) - modelling expo [meh, the same every year by now], GW store painting competition [hurhur, I won the Halloween painting contest and Dreadfleet painting contest's "Best Fleet" and "best ship"].
Anyhow, Painting will pick up again. I've been working on a themed scenic presentation board made with minimum effort and expenses. Let's just hope it turns out fine. To be honest, I don't dare to show it to you until it's finished and I worked out the most glaring flaws. Anyway, new pictures up soon, next on the list: Pre-heresy World Eaters with tons of resin!
