Well, they have been just making Genre films with heros for awhile.
cap2 was a spy thriller
Antman was a heist with family drama
GOTG was kinda space opera lite.
I also really like the 10 ring redesign. We can tell from the trailor that they will give you glowy purple punches but thats it so far. I hope they do more of the crazy things they do in the comics. Just magic punches would be pretty lame.
Also, rumor that could be spoiler of a character appearance..
Spoiler:
Baron Mordo is apparently going to show up.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.
I personally really liked Iron Man 3, but I'm excited to see this too. I think he's got a lot of potential not being bogged down as an Iron Man villain. Iron Man was never going to take the attention away from RDJ long enough to explore the Mandarin well enough to make him interesting. Shang Chi seems to have a lot more potential in that regard.
I still would have preferred Lewis Tan or Andrew Koji in the role...feel like they both have more natural charisma of the kind that Shang Chi should have.
But I'll certainly give the actor a chance...they may be going for something pretty different. And I recognize that this will only *barely* be based on the source material for a host of reasons (some of them good ones). Would love to see them capture some of the unique weirdness of the comics. They had a special brew. But that was about Doug Moenich having fun doing goofy gak...not sure how they'd even capture that.
You know, the more I think about it, the more impressed I am with FalconSoldier.
WandaVision had us discussing and guessing what was going on. FalconSolider has us discussing quite difficult ethical issues - and isn’t forcing any particular conclusions on us.

I mean, im honestly surprised they even brought this stuff on. I mean, i didn't think they would basically do something about the experimentation the army did on POC.

You can see somewhat from the trailer as in this iteration they combined Shang-Chi's father in the comic (Fu Manchu) and the Mandarin into one character. They wanted to avoid Fu Manchu for obvious reasons; the Mandarin is his dad wearing the ten rings now bracelets. We know he is very old as well as there is that scene of him in the past.
What I want to know is if Fing Fam Foom is going to get any reference or a shout out.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
Maintaining the Robin Hood-esque 'steal supplies for the people' could have built popular support for their movement, but what they've been doing in the second half the show is just brute terrorism with no end game.
Its a weird plan
It's a weird plan because Karli is being driven by emotion by this point. She clearly wasn't as negatively affected by the serum as Walker was, because she didn't start out with the same level of insecurity, but her not so gradual slide into using increasing levels of violence to advance her plans would seem to be coming from the same place.
Maybe? She seems very much inclined to this path even if the serum wasn't a factor.
She's very much the posterchild of the 'World is not working (the way I want it to) so... violence!'
While she's more open to discussion than Walker is, her kneejerk reactions are to treat people like they're nothing, and if her threats aren't empty (ie, Sis and nephews) they're downright evil.
But her initial escalation is 'bomb people and let them burn to death,' rather than being based on physical superiority. Or emotion for that matter. That was really calculated and rather dumb, as well as sucking all the nuance out of the plot. It was seriously going back into the Walmart after shoplifting just to shoot the mall cop. The theft doesn't even matter any more.
She committed cold blooded murder as a statement, but it isn't even vaguely clear what the statement is beyond 'No, GRC.' It isn't even 'GRC bad!,' because we the viewers don't really know what this random council really stands for beyond 'some people don't like it' Maybe they're all exploitative donkeys, maybe they've just got an incompetent warehouse arrangement.

I think I’ve been watching too much D+, because I read that as “the Mandalorian” and got confused.
Although it would be hilarious to watch all of us nerds loose their gak if Din suddenly jet-packed in and started blasting stuff in the climax of an Avengers film!

When I read the Mandarin somewhere else, I did the same thing.
As for the Mandolorian replacing the Mandarin in a Marvel movie..... that sounds like a great Robot Chicken sketch.

That was quite something. Oddly, nobody really lost.
Zemo got his wish. The Flagsmashers might not have lived to see it, but they got some of what they wanted. John Walker got a shot at some form of redemption. Sam is Cap, Cap is Sam, and a pretty powerful “opening speech”. Bucky found his peace. Isaiah got acknowledgement. Sharon Got Way With It.
As ever, all packed into an episode which took exactly the right time to tell its tale. No waffling, nothing spun out for the sake of making up the minutes, and nothing overly glossed over.
I think Zemo is my favourite. Like a naughty Batman, complete with his own Alfred.
Post credits scene? Did You Learn Nothing From Hydra???
Wonderful stuff. Roll on Loki, I guess!

I found the end for Walker to be a complete and utter cop out. Like, as of episode 6 I can't even tell why he was in this show other than to motivate Sam by being a token douche bag until he kind of just...isn't? With this being his conclusion in this story, I'm just baffled why he's even there.
Spoiler:
It's feels almost like they completely changed the ending because one sec he's beating on Carly while not carrying that people are burning in a van, then he's trying to save the van and everyone is friendly with him because...It's super weird. He goes from being this sort of dark avenger in the closing episode to just being there and handing out thumbs ups and thataboys.
Makes sense to me. He shows up to beat face and someone is already handling the burning truck. When there’s a pause and he has to choose between her or saving the other truck full of people, well he was never bad guy. Iirc his medals Were for going in and saving people. I don’t think anyone is 100% a D. Walker is never really Bad, he’s fighting for the good guys the whole time, he’s just not the shining beacon of hope Rogers was as he does it.
He’d also not long taken the serum when he killed that flagsmasher, and had just seen his friend killed in action.
But he found his redemption by doing what Cap would do - save the people, even though it let the bad guy go. We even see what I took for a nervous tic, and a dawning of understanding for him.

1) Gunned down by Power Broker goons
2) De-Cap-itated
3) Dissolved
4) Karli - Power Broker'd in the back
5) Chopper pilot - hauled out of the Hudson by Cap
6/7/8) Rounded up in a van and detonated by Evil Alfred
So, I'm pretty sure there were only 3 Smashers in that van, regardless of what the radio report said. Which means that Hudson Swimmer is still alive somewhere - but they're covering that up. Interesting.
And Sharon:
Spoiler:
Meets them in a city run by the Power Broker, immediately after someone who could presumably ID the power broker by sight mysteriously catches a bullet.
This is fine.
Leads them to supersoldier lab. Avoids going in, NOT AT ALL because of the possibility of Mad Scientist blurting out "Morning, Boss, who are these guys?"
This is fine.
Shoots some goons hired by text message, making sure that the people who liked her before really like her.
This is fine.
Hires the french guy who's already tried to kill Sam once.
This is... fine?
Dissolves someone.
This is still fine. Right? Right?
Confronts Karli, who knows who she is right away. Makes sure that Karli, who can ID her, isn't going to, ever. Likewise French dude.
OMG what a surprise twist she was the Power Broker all along and now everyone who knows her face is dead.
Except Hudson Helicopter Diver. Who she doesn't know is alive.
Series 2 is going to be a blast.
