The Infinity look good as usual, the litter on the bases is great!

Love the WE too, the gore and hazard stripes combo is a winner right there. Curious as to what in particular you think people will dislike?

World Eater's looking great! I love the weathering and blood splatter, but I'm not a fan of that color blue, but that is just my preference, you did an amazing job on them!

@TiB: True dat. The added bright red also adds very much to the colour scheme (which, if you'd eliminate the yellow and red, would look boring as all hell).

Hey, here's finally a fist preview of the Empire general:


He's a mounted version of this guy:

I will probably reposition the right hand to hold a shield. At the moment I just stuck it on to see how well the pose would work if I could make him hold reins for the mount (pretty darned well if you ask me) but the snag is that he won't be glued to the pegasus so you're able to have him ride either a Warhorse, a Griffon or a Pegasus. More pictures later!

Empire general looks cool, though 'tis a shame he's lost his mallet.

Going back to the DA Captain for a minute - I like the model, but how the heck is that cloak meant to shift around, given the backpack? Looks rather odd from the back. Lovely paint job on him, though.

@RSJake: Thanks. I wanted to go for a deep blue because usually the kind of blue I prefer on models, especially when it has to contrast the white. Yup, there's plenty of MkIII armour in there even.

@Farty Wiffmas: Thank you and yes, I think that the Empire General is going to look really, really snazzy. Converting him was a bit of a time-consuming thing but I'm quite sure that it was worth it.

@Dysartes: Thanks for commenting. Yup, the World Eaters are commission stuff, just like the Empire general. Basically everything in this thread is commission work. In the relatively rare cases that the models are for myself, which in recent times is just the occational competition things (I'm really starting to enjoy doing little vignettes so I use competitions as an excuse to get into those)) or Infinity models I specifically state it. The Empire guy didn't lose his mighty mallet, it just hadn't been reattached at the time I took the photos. I figured it would look too similar to the pose he's got on foot if he was holding the hammer in his hand. Apart from that the pose, which is very cool when he's on foot, doesn't really fit when flying through the air. First, it's a bit too nonchalant and second it would have looked a bit weird to hold a huge hammer whilst flying around (unless you're Thor) so he's got the hammer stored on his back during the flight. At one point I considered having him hold a bomb he'd drop upon enemies during flight in his other hand but ultimately decided against it. He still got a bag of big, round things with him though just in case. About the DA captain: Indeed, it loks a bit weird. I guess they cut a hole into the cloak, and the backpack over the cloak.



Update time, I say!

Empire general:


He's finished and for the first time can be seen with all his mounts. Due to the fact that he's being kept swappable, the placement of the legs and the cloak was a bit of a challenge but he fits really well now. If he wasn't to he swapped between mounts, I would have had him hold reigns in his right hand of course but this way, it sadly wasn't possible.


World Eaters squad1:


Not much to say there. After those and some of their pals are finished we can go on to the really tasty stuff in this army - two Heresy-Era Land Raiders and a Contemptor with two close combat arms.



Apart from that - Battlegames magazine seems to be saved! Atlantic Publishing or what their name was picked the magazine up and it should be back in business very soon. Congratulations on that. I'm really considering picking up a subscription now if shipping doesn't get too expensive.

Erm..yup, that's it. No more considering getting Maelstrom Games minis for christmas any more. I really should get my Landship done first. By the way, did you have a look at Dark Sword Miniatures' site lately? This very much cought my attention. :shifty: And the rest of their stuff is looking cool as well. Hasslefree Miniatures are coming out with their own walker (resin-cast) now. Looks nice as well. I mean, vehicles (or robots) [or males] isn't really the reason you look at their site (by the way, they got a new site. Much nicer now.) but I may have to pick something up from them as well. Tremendeously nice people as it seems by the way.

Oh well, I'm rambling again. I guess I should get started on this Empire guy. He looks great. :p

Thanks, man. Really looking forward to how he turns out in the end. I think he'll look really cool. Sure, go ahead. the model itself is very nice indeed. The finecast version (used the metal version when I painted him towards the beginning of this year, now I got the Finecast version for this conversion) is pretty good qualitywise. And technically it's not my miniature of course but my client's.

ahh, he is a nice finecast model indeed, and i didnt relize you made him 3 mounts! nice idea there, if you client isnt happy i dont know what would make him

@Rogue Wolves: Yeah, I used the "swappable character mount" on my Dark Elves army some years ago and was pretty content with the results. I mean you can't always field a Griffon in something like a 1000pts game but want your general in there so you just put him on a Warhorse.

Blood for the Blood God! Great blood effect on these guys. For the contemptor's close combat arms, specifically the fists, you should use these (the massive chain saws!):

Update for the general:


At this point I basically just placed general colours, did some very basic highlighting on the wings of the griffon, the pegasus' barding (this one's going to get a split-colour scheme again) and the warhorse is mostly finished. To be honest, the client didn't specifically ask for a warhorse but well, I had the bitz lying around and thought that it would feel like he lacks it to finish the triade of empire mounts and the army does have a mounted BSB so far but no mounted fighty character so... well, three options are cooler than two.

Siggy, Siggy, Siggy, it's always a nice trip when I pop in this thread. You've been busy since I last stopped in. World Eaters are looking amazing. Empire stuff still looks great and I'm still really digging your Infinity troops. Keep on trucking, bud.

i love the painting on that general! nice choice of colors, the pale yellow isnt something i would have thought of

Righty, there's an update again. Nothing groundbreaking happened - nothing on the griffon, the warhorse is finished and I focussed on freehands a bit of highlighting in the past hours:




You see, my intention with these designs was to make really sure that we know that this guy has got a hammer. And flies most of the time.

The Averland colours make me happy! Also, the green "head cover" on the horse is a very nice addition, looks great.

You're such a cool guy, throwing in a horse for free, thats why we love ya Siggy! lol

If that's the start of the griffon! i'm amazed already! those wings are going to look fantastic, right from your base colours you instill a sense of character for each model and it draws us in to see what the end result will be!

@TiB: It indeed it a follow-up. As you may recall, the army so far had two fighty characters on foot and a warhorse-mounted BSB but no other fighty guys mounted so this is going to get remedied now.

I like the idea of a brand, it adds some realism to the model. The way it stands now, I think it could use some texture, especially since that area is technically furry. Check out some pictures of horse branding on google...
