ib4 loyalist players complain so hard about Chaos dreads having the firepower of a rifleman while still keeping the powerfist that is gets errata'd!

Those really are rather swank. My friend, who plays Night Lords, is not so ecstatic. They're great models, but won't be a good fit for his army. Me? I'm sorely tempted to paint them up as Astral Claws. No, not Red Corsairs. Astral Claws. I reckon they could rock that look rather well. The cultists as Tyrant Guard dregs would be a nice fit.

But for what it's worth, as nice as those models are, and they truly are, I'm kind of disappointed the box doesn't have the same amount of potential as Black Reach. Black Reach could run the gamut of Space Marines (Traitors and Renegades included, if you put the work in!) and the Orks made collecting Orks both cheap and easy, since I'd seen people attempt everything and anything with the contents of that box.

Still, they're great models for what they are. I'm certainly tempted by them.

Anybody knows if there are going to be more versions of this box? Eg. chaos only one / dark angels one?

Does anyone else think these Marines (Chaos and Loyalist) look more stockier than normal. . . Like maybe. . . . just maybe. . . in scale?? At least compared to the Cultists

in Inquisitor, a Space Marine can take a krak grenade, pull out the pin, eat the grenade, throw the pin, and the thrown pin will actually kill a normal man, whereas the Space Marine won't even have indigestion. This has actually happened in a game. Hell, a marine can throw his bolt shells and do more damage than by shooting his boltgun

Here you go:

Hellbrute

120pts base

Type: Walker
Rules: Rampage

Armour: F12 S12 R10
WS4 BS4 S6 I4

Multi-Melta / Power Fist (with inbuilt combi-bolter); Because it is a Walker, it does not strike at I1.

Multi-Melta can be swapped for
Butcher Cannon, or
Twin Reaper Autocannons, or
Twin-linked Lascannon, or
Twin-linked Heavy Flamer.

Combi-Bolter can be swapped for Meltagun or Heavy Flamer.

Mark of Khorne: Rage USR
Mark of Nurgle: At the beginning of the turn, a D6 result of 5+ restores a Hull Point, OR can repair a immobilised / weapon destroyed.
Mark of Slaanesh: Sonic Scream (offensive & defensive grenades)
Mark of Tzeench: Flame weapons (if equipped) gain +1 strength and -1 AP (AP4 becomes AP3, etc)

Interesting...

I am, thankfully, underwhelmed by these models, though. My wallet is safe...

'Tides, I think you are the only other person I've seen that's underwhelmed by the models.

I'm not a fan either, of the Chaos in particular, although much of the Dark Angel stuff is good.

Some of the DA stuff is lush, normal marines look like normal marines though really.

The chaos, however, is gorgeous... Finally Chaos matches the amazing artwork and the more extreme black library fluff.

All of the models can be used for my Word Bearers so I am a happy camper. Cannot wait. Seriously excited about the new chaos dex as well now . If the model 'feel' continues though this the army will look how I imagine a chaos army should look.

Ok, I really think I'll buy this box. I don't play any of the armies but the minis are so great... It kinda worries me, because I did the same with WFB Island of Blood and I ended making a small Skaven army. I don't want another army LOL

=/ Seems like the Hellbrute's just a Contemptor on the cheap (even the same wargear....). I mean I'll still look out for it, but its rules are hardly original as they stand now (though I guess they have to be simple for the kids and what not...).

I drooled and probably wet myself... Will buy it definitely!

Even not caring a lot about Dark Angels, they still look decent enough to just have them in your collection.

And I have been finally convinced to start Word Bearers army (got mainly Nurgle stuff nowadays).

Hellbrute rocks!

Why do we have a picture of the Chaplain, but nothing else from the box?

You think the person just got hold of that model alone?

Slightly surprised at the fact that the DA have sculpted pads, not that I am complaining, it just seems to limit the choices of someone who is starting out in the hobby.

The hellbrute has to be my favorite model in the set by far. Such incredible detail and posing. More stuff like that and I have to restrain starting a chaos army! (I know, bandwagon jumper, it's the way I roll!)

There is apparently about 3 dreads in the new book, according to rumors. Bet one will match the options of the old dread at least. Or be split across all 3 maybe.

A Nurgle Hellbrute that basically regenerates? I'm loving this more and more. I might even keep the Dark Angels and just chaosify them somehow. (Battle damage, get rid of the wings and other DA imagery.) Should be easy enough.

The more I look at the models the more I only want the Hellbrute, not really interested in DA and I like the chaos chosen but it just looks too fussy/crowded to me which would make it hard to make them Nurgle The cultists are awesome as well though.

To get that right warpcrafter I think a new backpack for the marines would make a big difference and a spare heads from the chaos space marine sprue. Note you will probably have the cut or shave off the SMs head as it will most likely be attached to the body on the sprue.

Apart from that you may want the armour to look more ornate and "bony" by the looks of the new CSMs so this will most likely require god like green stuff skills if you have them. If not simply a new chaos like paint job maybe enough to make the difference.

Oh and file off the shoulder DA symbols replace with chaos ones.
