Altering the head might be cool, right now it isn't that "special". How about going the direction a lot of 40k artwork has, covering it with cables and tubes (especially from his mouth), kind of like the guy on the left on this picture by Adrian Smith.

now it reads 4k.

Yes, oh how much joy decapitation of little plastic men can be.
Meet Saint Bethune, Legion Relic and the essence of one of the finest and most vile Xenologists in the Ultima Segmentum, dead for some 774 years.
Now I have so much new ideas on how to go on with the gang... they each center more on Alpharius, how he's handpicked the "tools" for the job at hand. This really is the core concept now.
...back to painting him, then working on the next member, based on the wizard kit but something quite unlike the original...

This really is the core concept now. Everything fits now in terms of the dynamics and new ideas.
...hmm this really was the case of fething up with the initial plan (for the psyker) and then finding the whole thing because of that. It's unlike other group dynamics I've worked on, much more singular, ruthless, no comradeship at all, just martial pride and shared cause. Pure Alpha Legion doctrine.

Thanks for the kind words guys!
Next model is an explosives expert... or a Xenoform Hunter. Anyway based on the wizard kit, standing on an open sewer, aiming a stocky naval pistol down and either arrogantly dropping a high explosive device down (Explosive Expert) or squeezing drops of blood into the water from a chunk of flesh bait.(Hunter)
Hunter would also get a long las under his robe, while EE some collection of explosives - which concept rocks your boat?? And what ever I do with the wizard model might leave the other character concept for the final figure anyway, but lets see.

I think the robes will be a little difficult to make work with either concept but it probably works best with the hunter. Plus that one sounds the most original anyway!

I like the explosives expert the best. I'm not so sure about the wizard kit, unless you could be able to make it look like some sort of trench coat/cloak. The guy would have grenades and such inside his jacket or even in a backpack. If not with a backpack of explosions you might want to give him a shotgun or lasgun (carried over his shoulder). Sort of an engineer/explosives expert.
Give him a gas-mask as well, I know that the Space Marine tactical sprue has a fitting head with a mask thing on it since it looks high tech and only overs the mouth and nose, but perhaps those heads are too big for the Empire wizard torso?
As for the hunter, maybe something along the lines of Kraven the Hunter from Spiderman. Now I'm not suggesting those horrible colours and spandex. I meant him as an inspiratin for the fur on his shoulder, sort of a cloak/armour. Instead of a lion the hunter could wear some sort of cloak made from a xenos animal (even Tyranid carapace bits)

The more you doubt the more I'm doing it Honestly, the wizard kit is just brilliant for this, he'll have a camo cloack on a long coat (I removed the layers of cape underneath), and new boots and... It's coming along great and fits totally.

Just some ideas for the xenologist (though I am sure its too late to do any good) that I have had floating around my mind...
instead of servo skulls, use ripper servitors
or maybe even a gaunt servitor.. that would be rad.
Also explosives sounds the best for your next model.

The other day - err... yesterday... I say to myself, "Self, you are going hunting for the worst game in the universe (stealers) with some crazy mercenaries, Eldar Rogues and a Criminal Syndicate, all of whom you might need (want) to kill too, so what do you need to bring? A Warrior God, A Gun Slinger lucky charm, The Essence and Knowledge of Xenologist extraordinaire and a Master of Stealth with a passion for explosives. What more can you want short of a Vulcan Mega Bolter??
Self! You fething conscript, you need this! A Vulcan Mini Bolter. And a tough nut Big Game hunter Arrod Huntelaar to carry it.
(Still a WIP, and looking horribly busy, without paint picking up the right detail and components and merging the rest. Notice the exo-harness and integrated motiontracker and auspex system and display. Quite an extensive conversion I must add, but the repose works IMO)
And of course, you need something to flush them out of their hides.
( Still being sculpted when the pic was taken, and short of his custom built silenced Hecutor. He's getting detailed ear-enhancers that blocks damaging levels of explosions, but magnify low voices. He's also getting a cameoline cloak, so I can try some new painting effect. The main trick will be splashing water, like something was just dropped down)
So with that, sans a small flect mirror carrier thing, the Legion is ready for the journy to Kharybdis, and recruiting some more needed operatives possibly.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Lookin' good man. I'm not a huge fan of the stabilizing system on the vulcan mini bolter- it looks too much like a power pack... I'd remove the power cabling on the top right of the backpack and replace it with a ball and socket joint similar to the one here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Adeptus%20Mechanicus/tpriest3.jpg
I'm sure you're familiar with that model since you've used the parts from it on another ganger if I remember correctly.
As it stands now the joint between the Tau antenna and the plasma cannon power plant doesn't really look like much of a connection at all- if anything it looks like incidental contact :p
Continuing on that theme... the auspex isn't really integrated into the gun enough for my tastes. It looks like it's just sitting wedged between his arm and the gun.
Great work as usual, I'm just providing the constructive critisms you expect of me.
Edit: I forgot to compliment you on the sculpting of the second wizard body's arms. They seamlessly fit the body, nice work! The bomb dropping in a hole motion is captured perfectly.

Great sculpting and painting work here. I'm especially jealous of the freehand serpents on the Psyker's cloak.
On the latest two sculpts, I'd love to see what you could do to make the vulcan cannon stabilizer look more like the Aliens movie marine 'Steadicam' mount - http://www.geocities.com/area51/corridor/4035/23.jpg. As it is here, his head/face is totally covered on his right side, which would be a practical problem in combat, and also will conceal your excellent face painting work.
Definitely can't wait to see what painting effect you are going to use on the camo cloak!
Cheers!

Good comments guys,
Drace - I have that bit, but it didn't fit here and I abhor using such delicate resin on gaming pieces that play in Necro, unda style heights. I think paint will bring a whole new level of integration, but I will do a little tweaking as you suggest.
Slaaneshi - the way the support exo-arm moves and is more naturally posed it wouldn't be so far forward. The idea for the pose here is that the guy is driving the whole weapon forward while going for full auto. The challenge with this was getting both arms and the exo-arm to meet with the gun, and whole stabilizer thing was something of an afterthought when I got carried away with the size of the gun
Lets see how I can modify them and then blend it all together with paint
Cheers,

How are you going to paint that cameoline cloak?
Perhaps you should add a bionic eye to Huntelaar as well, would be kind of fitting/cool, like that he was out hunting some big creature and got his eye ripped out. Now he has a bionic eye with a targetter in it or something

I was thinking the same as Malika, a bionic eye/targeting device would look awesome.
as to your demo expert, all I can say is that he looks class, everything about this guy I like. great movement, smooth lines (and smoother greenstuffing), as well as a distictly sinister air about him. cant wait to see him painted up!

really do love the models, also the demo expert oddly reminds me of Fatman (minus the rollerskates of course) from MGS2, as an aside then if you are looking at making some new operatives, it might be worth a look at some of the boss characters from the Metal Gear series, i know a few friends who used to play Inquisitor based some of their warbands off characters like Psycho Mantis was just a thought anyway, again awesome models, good luck in the campaign

I was thinking more the newer versions of the MGS1 bosses from MGS4 (i'm waiting for the game to arrive so the names escape me) and say a deathcult assassin like Cyborg Ninja or something
