Looks good mate!

Does the sarges holster strap go across his chest at any point like it does across his back? A close up of the face would be cool to see what you've done to the bionic eye.

Also, whats planned for the right hand of the wizard? At the moment its hard to tell from the pics but it looks like hes pointing?

Looking forward to more from you!

Cheers,

Dante

Thanks Dante,

No it's one of those detective type of holster straps. I'll try to get it to painting stage and get close ups when the eye area is more defined.

The right arm is currently pointing, it was initially casting a force, but then it looked too aggressive for the feel I want for it.

The work on the head paid off. That pose works perfectly now. It's amazing what a small detail can change.

Nice work.

Congrats on the move, Migs! I hope you're done moving quick, because I can't wait for the next update!

I really like the 2 new members of the gang, I'm also very keen to see your take on the assassin!

I've got a question regarding the bases though, I know you spray everything white in your gangs, the bases + the mini's. Though, what colours do you use to paint them? Also, do you use wall-filler to fill the gaps between the pieces of scrap/urban rubble etc. and the base?

Cheers!

The move should open up more hobby time and space and cuts my "commuting" to a 15min walk to the office So I can work a little more, but still hobby more. I'm going to spend more time painting together with my brother too, which is fantastic. He is working on an Eldar gang for Hammer's Campaign.

Bases: I use Vallejo Sand Paste, which is GREAT! As for painting, I use Vallejo model color shades, in a few diluted washes. Then paint some wear and tear and maybe add some rust effects and what not - but really just watered down paint. No drybrushing!

Aaargh...one more week of slaving and we should be moving this sunday and then I get to return on the project too. A lot of talk about the new campaign and everyone's modeling plans. I feel like Jervis Johnson getting all sentimental about my hobby plans and getting very little actual models done

Finally the move is done and the minis and paints in the new place. I'm going to do some sculpting tonight. I think I will give Jargassor puffier pants.

We are still waiting to get our table back, so that's a minor annoyance.

Bloody winter making my priming plans rather tricky. I have a date with a suitable space tomorrow though, then it's on to paint the two finished guys and to build the fourth so that the Legion are to their starting strength.

At the moment, the image for the 4th guy is an ethically challenged biologis adept, also built from the wizard kit. I really want to show how versatile it can be as I feel it's a fantastic kit indeed and our campaign has already seen quite a few great versions. While there may well be a 5th guy too, another ex Ig that has nothing to do with the wizard kit.

Gasp - Finally I'm reunited with the hobby (honestly, the past 6 weeks, as awesome as it is to be in the new, self renovated home, was on top of busy times at work just too much. I feel utterly exhausted and am just counting days for the Xmas holidays and more hobby action I would imagine)

Jargassor is getting some paint, still a very long way to go mind you, but keeping it painterly and experimental and really trying to capture the pale moonlight feel. With the Psyker, I think I'll paint his entire face as if it's made of smoke. The idea with the conversion is that you can't see his facial features, veiled, haunting image. I want to really experiment with freehand on the robes too.

The story/look dynamic of the group doesn't work at all yet, so the 4th guy is really crucial. I think painting wise I can make them look like a legion, yet individuals.

One of the nice things about Legion is just how different they are to Shaddes offe Greye in palette and feel, yet both clearly inhabit the same twisted universe.

I like it, very nice. That Space Marine looks really big, is that just me? Or is that not 28mm?

The marine is heavily biggerized, something the finnish apparently do rather well..

Good looking models Migs, but I agree that they need something more to tie them together. Maybe the bases will help do that when you get them all done up.

Apart from that, the thing about many of these small gangs, my own included, is that the models are very individual.
So it can be hard to see the group as a whole, but I don´t think that´s necessarily a bad thing. It does make consistent basing that much more important though.

Little progress - got the flue now I think Everyone around me has been ill. Anyway, now I am starting to see the "group". I'm entertaining a thought to do a fighter model from the second wizard. For the psyker I would like to use purple...but not sure how to successfully integrate it into the group aesthetic.

I included a small pic from the top as it shows the difference in bulk so well.

I definately see your change of palette. The Blue, I think, would be incredible if your integrated it into all of the minatures, somehow. It's really enchanting, right now. I love Jargassor -- his fatigues are great.

Thanks sA!

I do plan to keep that blue around. I was slightly intimidated as the Marine armour and bald head just lends itself so well to natural "light-lighting" and making the most out of that blue. I know the Psykers robes will too, but Jargassor was a different thing all together. It seems to be coming along now.

I'm excited that this gang has the foundtions of an equally strong theme, but yet it is so distinctively different to Shaddes offe Greye. With similar basing they can still fight against each other in visual harmony akin to a good movie. Ok, maybe it's the flu talking now, but you get the point.

Looking inspiring (in a 'I can never hope to do that' kind of way) as always.

BTW, now that we have the gallery system going on Dakka I'd really, really love to get some super hi-rez pics of your stuff in there so people (especially me) can zoom in to really check out the detail work.

We accept any pics up to 10mb in size (which is gianormous). Do you have any really big pics especially of some of your award winning pieces? I honestly think it would be the absolute best way to show off your work on the internet.

Ooh, that WOULD be nice. But then again, that might get us "face to face" with Migs´ inquisitor, not sure everyone would survive such an encounter...

Migs, the models are coming together nicely there, Jargassor is looking great, I´m just waiting (im)patiently to see what you do about the psyker model.

Thanks Yak,
Well, I will have to think about it - I do love the idea to move all of my miniature pics to Dakka Galleries, if for no other reason than the pbase format annoying me.

For the super high-res stuff I would really need a new camera!!!, something I am thinking of sooner than later - however, having said that, I'm sort of hoping my work impresses with feel and vision, rather than technical perfection, which has never been the aim for me. Also, the best I can spend with a single mini is 10 hours of painting, I just completely lack the stamina and technical fetish of most other "GD winners".

Now if some of the Spanish or French GD technique nutters would share their 10mbs that would be something!!

...heads off to check out the Dakka galleries

Xan, cheers mate

Thank you the two of you.

Looks like the discussion is dying down again in these parts. Our small hobby forum with 15 or so members ranks double the replies than dakka. I'm almost considering of copy pasting some of the stuff to here to go deeper in to thinking around the projects - but then I guess with size of the board comes certain shallowness on the depth of discussion and it's more about sharing than interaction.
