He looks nothing like an Enginseer.

There are other branches of the Adeptus Mechanicus than just the guys doing work on machines y'know.

Also, as an aside:

The robes Adepts wear?

According to Mechanicum and other sources...they range from "Rust-red to pure white".

Considering that there's also a branch of the Mechanicus devoted to "the genetic sciences"(whose Magos is even part of the ruling Priesthood)...it's not too far to assume that you could very easily see a Adept from the Genetors(who...you guessed it, accompany Imperial exploration fleets to new or reclaimed worlds) as a sort of 'combat medic'.

I thought Adeptus Mechanicus didn't like flesh so they always got bionic parts and stuff.

And with how little we know about the Genetor faction, it could be the complete opposite wherein they revere flesh or use vat-grown parts to replace theirs as needed.

No when the narrator is saying "tech priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus" it is showing off this guy...

*headdesk*

The Techpriest comment goes from that guy, to a second Techpriest, then the guy in the white robe unleashing a lightning blast from his fingertips.

Which is something the Mechanicus have the technology to do, via Electropriests.

Here's the description for Electropriests:

Lexicanum wrote: Electro-priest

Electro-priests are fanatic cult warriors, responsible for supporting other Tech-priest warriors in battle. Their skins are engraved with a metallic electoo circuit which spirals around their bodies and interfaces with their minds, allowing them to build up a tremendous current of electrical energy.

As Electro-priests enter battle they chant Cult litanies, building up their electric energy and driving themselves into a frenzy of destruction.

Also, here's another fascinating bit for you:
Lexicanum wrote:As befits the religious nature of the Mechanicus, techpriests usually wear robes, which are usually either rust-red or white. Techpriests are often Imperial bionics. The level of a techpriest's augmentation is highly dependent on his rank within the Cult Mechanicus; a novice may have only one or two augmented systems, if any, while very senior members may have only a few biological organs left in their bodies.

Huh. Funny how it's only the two colors for their robes...as in the two colors we see in the video/screenshots.

As I suggested earlier, I'd rather see Seraphim as a distinct class. A class dedicated to kiting wouldn't be as dangerous to game balance in a game where almost everyone gets ranged weapons.

Guess I will just make a guardsmen and get a ton of thrones (money) and wait for an expansion that will include the sisters of battle or Inquisitors. Then give all the gold to my new character. That being said this game does look fun. I wonder if they will include space combat?

there seems to be a bountiful amount of stupidity in the form of "Gr8 grafix or dis gaem sux!!!1!111!two!"

Well, we are talking about a crowd who, for the most part, are perfectly okay with awarding points to people who paint real pretty at tournaments instead of the guys actually playing the game.

Except the "painting real pretty" part is a requirement of most tournaments.

Actual dogfighting won't be a feature, but THQ did say early on that ship to ship battles and boarding actions would -likely- be a part of the game.

Maybe they will introduce dog-fighting in an expansion (as they old republic has dogfights).

The difference there is that in Star Wars, the same people fly fighters and fight on the ground. Doing the same thing in a 40k game would detract from the uniqueness of a 40k game.

That's true, but remember that expansions often include new factions and/or classes. "Imperial Navy Pilot" could be included in an expansion. Vehicles as expansion items seems to be the general interpretation of the way things will go. I'm expecting the first expansion will focus on armoured combat by adding player-controlled tanks and the like, as it seems bikes are the only player controlled vehicles at present.

I would guess this might be in the form of missions that take place on spacecraft, so you get the cool 'fighting down a corridor which is constantly rocked by incoming enemy fire' set pieces and such.

But I could be wrong.

I kind of feel space combat is too far outside the 'core' of the 40k setting to be required, at least in a player-controllable form.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

They're not going to introduce a new class that cannot access 90% of the existing gameplay.

Well they've confirmed 'Nids will be the main PvE Antagonist, so we can totally expect Space Hulk missions at least. I'm not sure how they'll represent the warp corruption in the ship though (A timer, a-la DoW II maybe?).

An Imperial Pilot could easily land on the ground and start fighting. Coming up with a reason could be simply as, "Yo, pilot your ship got damage and won't be fix for a long time. So were placing you in the guard."
Now I know you guys are probably going to come up with a fluff reason why this wouldn't happen but it's an mmo, it's not going to strictly follow the fluff.

Plus, aircraft get shot down. A lot. Those pilots that survive need to get back to friendly lines somehow. Sure, a Navy pilot wouldn't be much of a ground combat choice, but as far as mobility and fire superiority go, they'd be pretty ace to have around. Pun not intended.

And then he dies. Brutally. Even a level 1 Guardsman would have a better chance of surviving than a level 20 Pilot who for some reason has been turned into a footslogger.

The two most probable classes so far (Space Marines and Tech-Priests) are both above average in a fight. Playing someone who is worse than the basic Imperial Guard infantry should be suicide in comparison.

Even Tau Fire Warriors are superior to a Guardsman in a fight. They are more heavily armoured and carry the Pulse Rifle.

Except it depends on what kind of pilot we're talking about here.

An Elysian Drop Regiment's Valkyrie/Vulture pilots have to do rotations in the combat units before doing the cross-training as pilots. Pretty sure the Phantine Air Corps do the same, but I definitely know that Stormtrooper Regiments and their Valkyrie/Vulture pilots do.

Your bog-standard Imperial Navy fighter or bobmer-jock? Probably not. But the pilots of Valkyries or Vultures tend to be Guardsmen promoted and cross-trained.

As for "the two most probable classes so far"...you're wrong. There's 3, at least, for the Imperium of Man. They've been confirmed, and they're set in stone--barring something happening in the vein of adding or subtracting between now and 2013.
They're:
Guardsmen
Techpriests
and
Space Marines.

Considering they've also confirmed the presence of three Chapters(Dark Angels, Iron Snakes/Raven Guard[Iron Snakes are being considered as a placeholder, with Raven Guard being their preferred choice unless they opt to go with something relatively unknown. You can bet your ass if the Iron Snakes are involved, however, that Abnett will be on board for doing questlines for them], and Black Templars)--that's also a non-issue.

Guard it looks like you'll have three ways to go: an Inquisitorial asset, a Stormtrooper/Marbo styled Guardsman operating solo with better equipment and training, or as a Veteran Sergeant.

Techpriests it looks like you'll have two ways to go. Enginseers(who would probably be a debuffing role based on their background, inflicting curses on enemy equipment while strengthening your own and supervising their combat servitors) and Genetors(who would probably be a mix of Genetors and Electropriests, building up a charge while also giving their allies a kind of regenerative aura with their mechandrites)

Sounds interesting exploring the interior of a space hulk or an Imperial battleship would be cool.

I'm also hoping sometime after launch we get to visit places like Mars, Terra, Cadia, Armageddon, Macragge, Fenris, etc.

Again:
"White robes" are used by the Mechanicus. In fact, they're one of the only two colors of robes used by them.

Could it be an Inquisitor? Maybe. But everything points towards it being a Genetor/Electropriest in a white robe.

Well for sure this guy is an Adeptus Mechanus from the Impirium of Man trailer

Although Kanluwen says that this guy is also an Adeptus Mechanus which to me looks highly unlikely as he looks like he is using a Physic attack not a tech attack making him an Inquisitor or a physic type class

here is another pic of the same white robed character whom is looking very much like an inquisitor because it looks like he is carrying a staff with a book and skull on the end.
