Yeah, the carnifex will be drooling, and there's various blood / drool / goop effects to go on.

With every update my jaw drops lower and lower!

The drool idea would be cool but be careful not to over-do it!

Keep going, even if the gold is a pain!

Since you seem to be ok with a bit of levity in your work (kicking the bucket, lol), perhaps you could add a "slight" wet spot to the front of one of the guardsmans pants.
Wetting one's trousers is justifiable in such a scenario.

WD, I wish I could say something actually constructive, but every time I come into this thread and try to comment my brain just does this

and I give up.

The work you are doing here is beyond incredible, you are at the point where I am finding it near impossible to even try and guess the techniques your using to get some of these finishes. You are an inspiration, and I can't wait to see this as it progresses further.

Ifalna has pretty much hit the nail on the head here for myself.

I cannot stress how fantastic this is, Winterdyne. I loves it.

winterdyne wrote:I've just found a quick trick for the gold. It's nice.

VMC Bronze base. Heavy brown wash (here supplied by oils).
Highight with a mx of VMC Old Gold and VMA Gold (which is silver) at high spots. Really crude block highlight. Go about half way along the gradient.
Shade with a mix of VMC Black and VMC Bronze. Again, cover about half the gradient.
A long gradient should now be 3 blocks, about a third each of the shade, highlight and bronze.
Now make a glaze of the bronze and glaze it from the middle (bronze) section over the shade and highlight. That does for the gradient. Really need glaze medium for this; water doesn't carry the metal pigment well enough.
Edge highlight bottom ediges with the Old Gold / VMA Gold mix.
Edge highlight upper edges with pure VMA Gold.

Thanks for the recipe and the description of methodology. Will have to try this at soe point.

The progress is looking gret btw. keep it up.

Cant wait to see the weathering on the legs! The base turned out great. Great choice of colors to go with the Hive fleet Leviathan....the purple will contrast a giant Dark Angels Warhound nicely! This thread just keeps getting better, looking foward to more of your progress!

Gold and the oil on the legs done. Still to do pigments and possibly some chipping, but I'm trying to keep the Titan more or less pristine. The chip on the striped leg IS an actual chip; no idea how that happened, so I'll have to do some weathering to blend that in.
Some tweaks and hopefully a better photo of the princeps. I've also done the first Moderatus, pics in a later update.

Pristine? Gasp!

Weathering is one of your key strengths mate. Please reconsider!

Seriously, do consider some weathering at the feet (to the knees) as even a titan fresh out of the factory would incur some dirt and grime striding a battlefield hunting bigger game.

Still, you know best.

I got halfway throguh getting excited over the diorama base and totally forgot about the titan

thanks for sharing, really nice work. I especially like the texturing on the tyranid carapace purple. It looks nice and chitinous.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

There'll be some chipping on the feet / shins, but it's really going to be fairly minimal. There'll be some dusting up of the lower surfaces too, I've been looking a lot at steam train weathering for inspiration...

Even the accidental chip looks like it was intentionally done.....everything just looks so good on this model so far. Your really getting this thing done quickly to given the size and detail of everything.....just amazing!

This week I've been plodding away on the inside of the titan.

Some cleanup to do, particularly around the dials and controls, and there's a few marks that will be weathered in here and there. But it's getting there. Hopefully I'll finish the internals midway through next week, then I'm back to painting gold trim on the carapace for a bit...

Subject to getting a good set of parts cast, they're really nice kits. Worth the money (once you have good parts in your grubby little mitts); extremely detailed and atmospheric.

Getting parts I felt workable took several months, and sufficient replacement parts that (2 individual parts aside) left me with en entire spare titan (of fairly poorly cast bits).

Cleanup and assembly on this took around 3 weeks (first Titan I've built, so it took a while to get my head round), The parts I've had replaced would have taken significantly longer and some had big enough mould slips (notably the head / cockpit with a 4mm slip) to make the cleanup effectively a resculpt. And the first Vulcan bolter... ugh. I'd have to rebuild the ammo hoppers, the mount, the back of the gun (which I had to do a bit on this one)... Actually thinking back on it, some parts were pretty shockingly bad.

Where's your world famous subtle OSL (TM) Winter? You lazy git.

With that out of the way, what's that smell? A daemon?

Please keep the inspirational stuff coming mate!

There won't be much OSL on the whole piece. Maybe a bit on the flamer IG. I kind of want everything else to have a steampunk / Jules Verne sort of vibe...
