These chaps are pretty much done apart from the decals. I intend to get the rest of the IG done this week or early next, putting the total working time on them at about 35 hours (less than 4 hours per mini, so pretty quick jobs). I reckon about 40-50 hours on the 'nids, then it's on to the titan proper, which will probably weigh in at around 150 hours. The total time for the diorama should be around about 250 hours.

Really amazing work winderdyne... and I don't say that for guardsmen very often.

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

This thread is really inspiring! I'll be keeping an eye on your progress.
What colour scheme are you going to apply on that Titan?

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

So much character. Outstanding work there, might have to steal a few ideas.. kill tallies, chipping.. all makes it seem very real. I especially loved the kneeling guardsmen, with his wonky helmet and grim determination.. aforementioned kill tally marking him out as one mean fether.

Also, probably too late now.. but something I like to do with my guardsmen is remove the stump on the back of their armour (unless of course they have vox caster/flamer tank etc). Just seems out of place and ugly.

Truly spectacular, when I saw the diorama's scale I did not expect to see this level of detail in a single figure!

Keep going!

More progress shots:

Colour scheme for the 'nids. Extremely limited pallete to keep focus on the titan. Also the start of more dressing for the groundwork. The devil is in the details. Definite nod to Starship Troopers (the film, not the book!) with the impaling going on.

Grandfather clocks are 40k. As is miraculously intact furniture. And lets face it, if you're manning an outpost against a hive mentality that just wants to make a lunchtime snack of you, you may as well do it in comfort.

A favourite among my local group is this chap, the back of whom you can see in the previous shot. Eyes are locked with the 'nid that's about to skewer him. But will it be the knife or the grenade that end it? Either way this guy's kicking the bucket. Did I mention I like puns? The bucket has a number of different rust / earth pigments on it from both Forge World and Secret Weapon. They mix well.

Carnifex WIP. Still needs a day or two to finish him off, then another 6 gaunts. You can just see the ever-increasing amount of brass etch on the buildings. There will be more, as well as plants around. Flowers will be purple (partly because I *like* purple flowers, and partly to tie in with the 'nids colour scheme).

The detemination on the face of the wounded guardsman with the grenade is awesome! This project is shaping up to be truly phenomenal!

Yikes! That looks awesome! Good work so far. I think you have a chance at taking home the sword/gold/what-have-you with this thing. Amazing, you rarely see that level of detail on guardsman faces.

I can't wait to see the titan done up. Subbed!

Was waiting patiently for updates bcos awesomesauce cannot be rushed. When I checked again (almost a daily habit), the first things through my mind was: Hot D#$N! Wicked!

You can imagine what the IG is saying as well (so much character!)... Caption contest!

IG watching buddy get impaled: "I need to reach my gun!" Until the enormous shadow of the carnifex slides into view... then it becomes: "Oh shxxt!"

IG beside bucket: "Even if I have to die, I won't die alone. Come get some!"

IG commander shouting: "Where's that dxxned support?!"

Carnifex: "Prey..."

Inspirational work from Winterdyne studios!

It looks amazingly "real" for plastic men with laser guns fighting plastic aliens!

Can't wait to see the finished piece.

"Kicking the Bucket" should be its own diorama, that level of detail and the subtle pun really add to the effect.

Making me want to start my own little diorama!
