Hehe. Good call. Most of the crud we hear about on here would get a normal employee fired if I managed them though.

True, but I can tell you acting that way when employed by Workshop in SoCal would have gotten you fired 7 years ago. Granted things change. But a basic understanding of trust being essential to that kind of business shouldn't. Oh well. Looking forward to the starter. Heres to hoping the Hellbrute fella is more like a DK. Scan copy of your big rulebook (Remember its yours and you're not distributing it to anyone except yourself) + Print of scan at fedex in booklet form (Find friend who works at Fedex so its free) + Enjoy.

My entire playgroup had a mini rulebook a few days after the big one came out. Very useful.

It's tough to decide whether or not to take this seriously. When faced with these two propositions:

1. GW will screw its customers by making them buy the starter box AND the rulebook

and

2. This particular GW grunt is lying or misinformed

Both seem perfectly likely. I guess we'll jsut have to wait and see. If #1. is true, I'm just gonna rely on freinds/opponents for the full rules. Like hell I'm shelling out $6-odd bucks for something that should come in the starter (which will likely already put me out $120+)

-C6

PS-I know that even at $120+, all the miniatures that will be in here will likely make it a worthwhile purchase. but it's still getting screwed when all previous editions came ready-to-play. Actually, thinking about it, thi is the strongest argument in favor of this NOT being true. GW wants to hook new people. Making it twice as complicated (you have to buy 2 different products) and ~50% more expensive seems like a plan so awful that even GW can recognize how bone-headed it would be.

The post about the starter boxes rulebook is incorrect.

There's a "Let's Get Started" insert, that is 8.5"/11" and a few pages that goes over movement, shooting and close combat with full color pictures, and also includes all the rules for the models in the set. It's designed specifically for the starter and the examples it gives to explain things are with the units that you get in the box.

In addition, you also get a rulebook. It is a miniature, black and white softback of the main rulebook stripped of any of the fluff and most if not all of the images.

It includes all of the USRs and is word for word the rulebook.

There has been no internal email stating that the core set rulebook would be insufficient and to advise that.

In other words, the exact same as the last 2 editions. A getting started book and a mini rulebook.

See, if it was Battle for Bloodskull Doomountain or something I'd be okay with it! I'm fine with silly naming conventions, and if they're themed that's a plus. Dark Vengeance just sounds so generic to me, like the subtitle for some bad JRPG.

They could have at least included Cypher.

All I am really interested in is the mini rule book, I am amazed that GW doesn't sell this seperately.

The cultists and the Dread may find a home as well, depending on what they look like.

I can't speak with any real experience because there has never been an official GW store in Austin, but from lots of reports I've read online, aren't these guys pushed with crazy sales quotas? It seems if the company is pushing sales to the degree that the lowest level employees feel the need to deceive customers, you are approaching sales and customer interaction the wrong way. I find it hard to lay full blame on this employee to the point of calling for his job. If anything, I wonder what policies his manager or regional manager is promoting to drive this behavior. I would hazard a guess that most low level employees to engage in this type of behavior on their own accord without some drive from supervisors.

On topic, I'm super excited for cultists much more so now that we have a general idea of the look. It's about time they have official models that aren't the horrendous 3rd edition metals. The hellbrute could be cool as well. Depends where it fits in the FOC and what roll it fulfills.

Welp this pretty much seals it, I'll be buying one of these if the price is reasonable. I figure a BRB is $75 retail (I have yet to buy one) so I need a rule book and prefer the minis any way. I've also been interested in Marines or Chaos at some point or another. So half the set will stay with me, the other half with go to a friend, swap shop or ebay.

However to hit those margins properly I'd still want the set to be in the 100 range.

Dark is the new Dark Angels buzzword. They'll have Dark Plasma, and Dark Missiles and DARKTEKBLOODNEMESISDOOMFISTS on all their sergeants when it turns out that they're just regular power fists with a fancy name.

In all seriousness though am looking forward to this interrogator chaplain, even if it's in some super secret DARK limited edition version which only a certain inner circle of GW know about.

I was half expecting the set to be called GRIM STOICISM instead.

The odds that the kid at GW was actually lying to him and claiming that the mini rulebook wouldn't have all the core rules are extremely remote. Sounds like a miscommunication blown up out of proportion by internet dramatics.
