JQ had some pretty heavy racist stereotypes in it, they'd have to be careful with a new show.

They did do a brief reboot a long time ago that had a lot of really bad (I won't say the CGI stunk, but it sure put the PU in CPU. ) CGI. They made Hadji a little less ridiculous and gave him and johnny a little more attitude, and added a female character, race's daughter.

JQ can not be a thing, because the Venture Brothers killed it and buried it. There is no way you can watch Johnny Quest ad NOT think of the Venture brothers!

I would want to see Jodorowski's Dune, More Dredd, and that damn Macross movie Tobey Mcguire killed by being a dirtbag!

There actually is a plan for a JQ movie in summer 2021, but the director sounds like a hack.

Hmmm, how about another cartoon, the "Korgoth of barbaria" series that never got made? They did a damn funny pilot ep and that was that.

Think "thundarr the barbarian" done more as a conan parody.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korgoth_of_Barbaria

On the cartoon front I'd have liked to see "Gary the rat" have more than one season.

And more seriously, I repeat that I'd like to see a faithful adaptation of "The time machine". Especially now.

+1 on that !

Upon further thinking I'd like a version of 2000ADs "Zenith" series and some form of "Astro City" too.

I think there's enough general superhero knowledge in the audience in general know that the latter could work.

Hey, you leave that alone! It was fantastic--provided one knew that we weren't going to get adaptations of the books and that it was before Butcher had a solid 'plan' for later in the series. If you've never read about it, you should try to find some of the stuff Butcher said relating to the development & cancellation (notably Nicolas Cage going to bat for him to be put on writing S2).

I enjoyed what was made too, but I'd love another run at it with each book a season instead of an episode.

They did an animated star trek series long ago, I saw it on a dvd cpollection. Some bits were good but the animation was truly poor, and no checkov.

Why doesn't someone do a modern animated trek series?

They are trying. But with the modern Trek showrunners it would probably be less authentic than the Stargate cartoon and more grimderp than the new Godzilla cartoon.

I for one wouldn’t say no to a 2000AD anthology show, in the vein of Tales from the Crypt.

Over its 40+ years, there are more than enough Future Shocks, Terror Tales and one off serials to plumb for material.

Under the couch

The High House, by James Stoddard.

For those who haven't come across it, the High House is an old mansion that is also a Narnia-wardrobe-style gateway between multiple (possibly infinite) worlds, protected by a Master equipped with a bunch of magical doodads.

I could easily see a Victorian fantasy Stargate-style 'planet of the week with a progressive story' series, where the Master is missing and a group of adventurers are journeying through the house trying to find him as the House slowly breaks down around them...

I'm late to this thread.

The thing I'm surprised has never happened is a GOOD adaptation of Lloyd Alexander's Prydain Chronicles. Disney did that hack job cartoon The Black Cauldron during the '80s. But that was a long time ago, and the source material is a terrific YA read. Some aspects might be *better* once you're an adult. It won Newbery awards; it's great stuff and with a few minor tweaks it'd work very well for modern audiences (already has a strong female co-lead, etc.)

But apparently Disney is still sitting on the rights. Don't get it.

I feel differently about them.

ATMOM would have been a interesting adaptation, IMO. I suspect it would have been very much a Del Toro joint, but the basics would be recognizable. And it was a movie that could have been made.

J's Dune seems like it would have been a really trippy dumpster-fire-for-all-time that happened to have the word 'Dune' in the title. Milking kitties and weirding modules but x1000. And something that never really would have happened anyway. It endures because it was never made or needed to be made.

I think I would enjoy a series of true crime mockumentaries exploring such crime questions as who shot who at the Copacabana, who is the smooth criminal and is Annie okay, what really happened to bad, bad Leroy Brown on that fateful night, and uncovering all the gruesome details on the maneater.

That's good...but gets better IMO if you put them all together in a single fictional universe. Kind of like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen blended with the X-Files, with a pair of detectives exploring those mysteries.

I submit that the fate of Billy Joe McAllister would be a top episode.

In 1975 some hollywood type thought iot would be great to have a series about an alien spy coming to earth and the government building a super robot to trackit down and stop it. After programming the robot with a lot of information about detectives it decided that it was actually sherlock holmes and called it's partner watson.

It was to be called holmes and watson and never got past the eary stages.

Early promo shot.

Early shooting clip sans sound.

I want a western, but set in the Rifts universe about a glitter boy pilot drifter, who is convinced to help the townsfolk against a local cattle baron who is trying to muscle in on their territory.

It would have to be played absolutely straight. No gonzo, all the beats of a classic western.

Well, this is a little spooky. Of course, ‘in development’ doesn’t mean much. Hopefully they follow the books a little closer if it happens. Disney+ probably is the right format for it.

I'd kinda like to see a godzilla movie where godzilla was designed by H.R. Giger. I mean a godzilla in the giger bio-mechanical style, not jut a Godzilla with a banana head and hoses coming out the back.

obviously can't happen now unless giger backed up his mind on some bizarre pseudo organic server. But maybe a student of his or someone just into his style could do a godzilla or another kaiju.

BTW, I'm tired of superhero and star wars movie, but if thy made this my ass would be in line to see it.

Personally my money's on doom. I think he just has stronger will than vader. Plus gauntlet blasters, being a fairly high mage as well as having ultra tech, flight ability, etc.

That’s what I was taught in Church and Catholic school yes.

Then you weren't paying attention. Saying sorry means nothing, it's being sorry, regretting, knowing better, wishing you had not done it and trying to make amends that matters.

Definitely have to echo Drankenfels (if WH Fantasy ever makes it to the screen that's my vote).

A Blakes 7 Reboot, or Special edition or something. Probably a reboot since there's a lot of filler episodes I'd want cut out.

There was talk of Dreadstar (comic by Jim Starlin) film and that could be epic.

Elric, yeah I could go for that.

I am definitely not a fan of the Dredd film, it seemed to entirely miss the humor and parody at the heart of the comic. Once you start making his deliberately over the top costume 'realistic' you're done, you missed the point.

Speaking of fascist lawman parodies, Martial Law would be a lot of fun in a guilty pleasure sort of way.

And on the sincere side, more Justice League Unlimited!

So,
What I really regret never being made is the supernatural spinoffs
Like, seriously, with the later seasons pretty much giving up on the whole "People Fighting Monsters" part of the story, with it pretty much being exclusively Angels V Demons(I have not seen the last 2 seasons so IDK if it changed) I was hoping for more of just, Monsters man.
But not of them took off

Dreadstar would be awesome if it was a series of films rather than a one-off. There's too much story for just one installment.

Elric could be great or else truly terrible, depending on the director's/studio's buy-in to the concept.
