the eternally postponed shelf. (No I do not actually have on of those.)

I have one of those....at the moment it has an Ork Nob, Femme Militia Mary Bones and a Space Wolf Dreadnought (made from a FW Ultramarine one) and a Dwarf Slayer by Avatars of War on it.

Hehehe, no strike on my behalf, but I had tend my fiance and keep her company she's got a bad attack of pneumonia.
The whole friday night was blocked by a business dinner, today I'm working as usual and so on.

I have been in fact painting though, I just didn't have that much time for it. The rifle is almost done now, but I'm really not happy with the woodgrain and I might give it a touchup (which means ruin it all together and start from scratch), I'm trying to resist.

The only other hobby related thing I did was reading Moby Dick and dreaming about one of my favorite future projects, that I'll do once I'm done with my gangs and the =I= retinue.

Understandable Hope your better half is feeling better, hope the food was worth the night …… I gather the Moby Dick is inspiration for some new concept or is it a Moby Dick related model ?

I have to ask what is the best resource for =I= material as I kind of have been inspired to have a go at this my self and was wondering where to get some good inspiration

No seriously it has everything you need to get the basic idea.
Actually all of the Inquisitor material is worth reading. The Thorian rulebook for example is more fiction than rules.
Once you're done with that Inquisition codices from 40k are great.
Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies.
FFG rulebooks for the 40k rpg.
And of course the many many different rulebooks for I-munda and Inq28.

Well thats pretty much covered that then, besides the sarcasm the rest is helpful if not costly but as for reference to style and design would you say was best and what for getting the feel of the characters of the inquisition you recommend, don't want to blow budget on the reference materials that all.

Well lexicanum should have all the relevant information on the styles of the various branches and notable members of the inquisition. All for free, and on the internet.

Sarcasm? I'm not even familiar with the concept of it... no seriously I merely stated the obvious. About the budget, there are solutions for that problem. One could just for inspiration of course look for not completely legal ways to have a look at those materials, at least that's what I heard. Rumour has it that on the www all kinds of things illegally become available.
I prefer to have the actual book though, so some things are really worth buying them. My favorite inspiration are artbooks like "Inquis Exterminatus" "The Horus Heresy" or "Agents of the Throne". And they are worth every penny.
The rules are, as mentioned before, all open source, so no worries about the budget.

Sarcasm not your strong point then Yes that sounds the best not after playing just want to build some thats all, I think the art books are the way to go then will go and check some price then….

I'm looking forward to my updates too.

The paintjob is progressing sooooo slowly. The next one has to be quick or I'll go crazy.

On the other hand I'm learning a lot, mainly about things I'll avoid for future projects.

Most importantly I'll never split a project again. And I mean that in two different ways:
1. I'm painting body, head and rifle separately and it helps with reaching the difficult areas, but it's also interrupting my flow. If possible I'll avoid multi component paintjobs and else I'll paint one part completely before starting the other in the future.
2. When I decided to convert and paint Samarianne before finishing Hope and their base it happened for sound reasons, because I had realized the project was too complex to be finished withing the time limit ( ). I'll never do that again for whatever reason! Build, then paint, no exceptions. I find it totally demotivating that I can't look at the whole project to picture the final outcome, because it doesn't exist outside my head yet, which makes it a lot more difficult to make decisions regarding the paintjob.

NO updates/work on other projects until Samarianne is done! May I persevere...

I'm done with the rifle.
Her golden equipment parts are next to be finished, they just lack a couple of highlights and the final shadows.
After that there are the purity seals and some final highlights on her armor, then I'm done with the body.
The last step will be to finally redo her eyes, put her together and be done with it.

Cant wait to see this beauty when she is in all her glory, strange to see something painted on here lol …..

I find your lack of pics after saying things like "I'm done with the rifle" disturbing

your lucky im half blind, because if i sit in such an angle, i can imagion that you DO have pictures.. but they are just on my blind side

I used to hate painting eyes and it's still not my favorite part, but once you know how it's properly done the rest is just frustration about how theory and practice are not the some. In this case, like I wrote before, the eyes actually turned out pretty well, but I wanted to correct one minor flaw, thus ruining the whole thing.

Baiyuan, I just had a good proper look through this blog...truely wonderful work here mate...sorry if you've already mentioned this before (too much text for me to read it all) but what is the status of your 'miner gang' project? Any more of them finished...the ogryn with the ore dill/axe is a master piece in every sense of the word! I'm a huge Fallout 3 fan and your gang just sing of the DLC add-on "The Pit" to me!
