Haven't they C'tan Phase Sword, that ignore all saves and cause instant death ?
They changed it; now it's a Power Sword that causes Instant Death.
Though the Witch Hunters assassins still use the old ones.

Well, by saying more firepower I meant some goody that they could have the Gauss or Tesla weapons have.
Also, I would love for the warscythes to keep their "no-save-at-all" rule. To give my enemies one more thing to fear...
'edit' IF the Tesla weapons actually come into being...in the initial post by Yakface they sounded like fun... Guess we'll see in 2-3 months or so...

I hope Warscythes maintain their current state, it'll gives us something to be able to hard counter dedicated assault units like TH/SS Termies that would normally just cut a swath through us.
I don't see a problem with it, if only a few things like the Liche Guard, and Perhaps Lords/Crypteks can take them.

I agree, not to mention that would make a pretty nice assault unit for the Necrons as well. Talk about a nice counter to really good assault units.

It's a game-kicker - the one CC ewapon in the entire game that denies you that crucial save on your favourite tough unit. Terminators will cry Well not the Gk ones... they'll just up their I and smash first.

I guarantee that they'll be nerfed for necrons, and then the next Marine dex to be updated will get something with the same rules

The concern about losing Pariahs is valid. They are over costed as is, but certainly in the current meta are invaluable for stopping the ubiquitous TH/SS terminators in their tracks, forcing your opponant to actually have to think about deployment. Still, though, Pariahs aren't that great, given their stat line, sadly...

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Too late. We were jinxed long long ago
I like my warscythes too, but as weapons that outshine imperial ones they aren't staying as is. You know the score, and so do I :(
Remember when only Necrons has 3++ saves?

To be fair, I suspect that, like the Tyranids, most of what they are called are Imperial Classifications. I doubt that "Tesla" is a Necrontyr word, but likely some Imperial scientist blah blah blah.

I dont think having units that ignore inv's is an issue really. Invs to me have always been a save that is more difficult to break through, not neccessarily a save that simply cant be cut through. To me its a representation of added defences be it psychic related, superior reflexes or tech based. I think so long as its a limited number of units that have the ability in each army then its fine. Witch hunter callidus still have the phase swordwhich is all well and good for cutting through invs but at the end of day shes only one model and can be easily over whelmed. Units that have the ability to cut through invs often pay dearly in points cost or have some fatal flaw to them (in the case of callidus assassins the fatal flaw is being outnumbered). So, provided the units are made balanced and dont consist of "we are immortal and we can chop through anything" then I think it'd be fine. Pariahs if i recall correctly were limited in the old necron codex so it meant that whilst you had a unit capable of cutting through saves you only had so many of them which meant that should the opponent wish to, they could lay down fire on that unit and essentially be free of it for the rest of the game. C'tan also possessed the ability to nail their way through invs and whilst they could be considered to be tough to take down, their points cost was quite immense for back then so you did pay quite dearly for them they were also limited aswell. SOpersonally I dont think its an issue for a unit or two to possess that ability providing they have a weakness.

Found it, but it was in the Nid codex, not the ork one
' Tesla Prime was a major weapons testing facility for the Adeptus Mechanicus. Experimental weapons of truly devastating effect were stockpiled there prior to the worlds evacuation ahead of hive fleet Leviathan. While the Mechanicum attempted to remove as much material as possible some equipment proved to large, or to dangerous to move and so was abandoned. Shortly after the last ship departed Tesla Prime Ork looters proceeded to raid what ever had been left. The explosions from their 'experiments' could easily be seen from space. By the time hive fleet Leviathan finally arrived the Orks had managed to master many of their new toys resulting in massive casualties on both sides and causing the conflict to spread to many nearby worlds. The resulting war proved to be extremely helpful to the Imperium allowing them to fortify or reclaim many smaller strongholds against further incursions.'
