They make you ridiculously giggily, but not enough to justify the headache you get after, it's that bad.
Though to be fair, I can't think of any thing to justify the use of any non legal, beneficial drug.
Anyway, back on topic. I'm actually pretty excited about the paint change, and I'm looking forward to seeing the full range face to face. I do wish they could've kept the names the same though I guess that if they're changing suppliers & there's potential for error on the colours due to pigment variation that there'd be a reason to rename them. Liche purple ain't liche purple if it doesn't look like liche purple after all.
I can even see the benefit of the texture paints, for an amateur painter such as myself. I thnk flockingbases is a royal pain in the ass, as I always manage to get some sand half way up my wyches knee, or end up painting over an ankle or something. With this stuff, I can imagine it being a lot easier to blue tack the model on to a base before painting it, texture the base first and glue the model on later.
So, next question, when're they gonna release the new citadel brushes? (Not an actual rumour, just my own thoughts. Surely they'll want to capitalise and release a brush that's labelled for each paint type, I also think the 'eavy metal brush set was a bit of an early tester prior to all this)

They have a much better coverage over black undercoat and the colours are more vibrant, especially on reds and yellows.
I suppose they could be considered halfway between a foundation paint and the current ones.
I guess this is the answer. Hopefully the new Base colours will be as effective as the old Foundation ones. Thankfully, I have enough Foundation paints to last me for a while.
Side note: Ive been using the non -metallic P3 paints as my 'foundation' paint for a few years. It covers really well and lends itself to a nice new shade.
Interesting to know. Thanks for that, may have to try using them as a replacement for the now extinct Foundations...

Bit more than that. I enjoyed them the one time I did it. And it is legal.

And the Ultramarines Blue they have at the moment is a shade that disgusts me. I'm used to using Ultramarine from the Windsor and Newton oil paints, and it is utterly different. a wonderfully deep hue of blue that you can then add Titanium White to, and get a whole host of different blues from. Once you've used oils, you get a whole new level of appreciation to colours. Being serious, if they didn't take days to dry, I would be using watered down oils to paint all my models.
So, don't start telling me that a difference in shade isn't important for the average gamer. Because that is a pile of steaming horseradish sauce. Three different shades means three different blues. You can't escape that simple fact.

I'm interested in this new range, but cautiously so. Who knows what changes might come along in a couple of years time?

Coverage, putting glue down first then sanding it covers the entire thing, the texture paint clumps up and needs to dry before applying a second coat. Its faster to just throw sand down on glue and wait the 30 minutes for it to be dry enough before you throw on Argax Earthshade aka Devlan mud.

I spoke yesterday to a source in Nottingham and he said that the reason the whole range has been changed (names and all) is that some clown in GW legal when drafting the last contract to outsource the paint manufacture managed to transfer the rights to the names to the outsourced manufacturer.
Not a problem until GW came back to renegotiate a new contract and the other company demanded a bucket of money (millions of pounds).
So GW changed the names of their entire line and to disguise their ineptitude added in a heap more colours (they were planning on doing it but this sped up the arrival).
Also there are supposed to be pigment changes thanks to new manufacturer as people have discussed earlier RE: differing shades of ultramarine blue over the years.

So does that mean we'll eventually see an entire new paint range on the market, using GWs 'current' names, from that manufacturer? That would be hilarious.

I have refrained from say it, but... Sorry, I can't stop myself any more.
Where are GW hiring their managers from? NHS hospitals?
Seriously, I've worked in the NHS for over four years, and this is exactly what I would expect from them. Only my bosses can spend allocated money to start a project, only to have planning problems with the Council later on. Thus creating a Road to Nowhere. And Waaagh Gonads has given a reason that smacks of this. Truly mind blowing.

And a good strategy. Because they have all the right formulas, AND THE NAMES. So what is to stop them from whacking out the old range under their banner with all the old names? None. And then, we have the fun debate as to how many customers would go with that range, because it is the the range they are used to and happy with?

The new GW paint supplier is a company based in Manchester, UK and not Michagan, US as previously rumoured.
I strongly suggest that everyone gives these new paints a go before calling it the end of the world as you may well be surprised.
As far as I'm aware these paints have been specifically designed to be used straight from the pot and actually work very well without the need for water or Medium. I know that sounds strange, but they have very good pigmentation and are of a consistency that creates excellent flow and doesn't dry too quickly that you are able to move paint around on the model as not to lose detail if applied too liberally.
The pots will all eventually have a piece of plastic on the lid (called a sharkfin I believe) which keeps the lid open when in use.
Also have it on good authority that the Base paint 'Ceramite White' actually covers extremely well when painted over a black basecoat. This is one of the 'tests' GW have used to demonstrate the new range, as we all know that White can be a difficult colour.
I have heard really good things so far, so again I think you should all take the time to have a go with them when released and make up youre minds that way.

Well, I'd be interested in knowing where you got Manchester from.
As for the rest... it is a lot of Deja Vu. Lots of people have been saying "give the paints a go," not realising that a new paint manufacturer means different colours. Seriously. I mean, a few hours ago, I posted up on Ultramarine, because we had a comment on different shades not being important for the average gamer.
As for what you say, we've had people post up about the paints who have in the flesh used them. So we are getting a good idea about things already, first hand.
And as for using straight out the pot... I do that a lot anyway. I can't see much difference in watering down and using neat, to be honest.
