Thanks guys.

@kestral: All I'm doing is the painting. Cam did all the hard work of creating and building!

Been a few days, thought I'd post what we've been up to.

Thing 2 is back into 40k big time and his built or repaired every Nid he could find. He took out all of his painted models and came up with well over 5k points. Here they are.

I've decided to build my 4 armigers. Here's the first. Most of the plates aren't on as they'll be painted separately.

Finished painting the amazing DOW 3-inspired Waaagh tower that Cam built for me a long time ago. My creative contribution was the big ork skull plate snagged from a stompa. The glyphs all have meaning. Banner 1 says (roughly) "this is where the orders are amplified", banner 2 says "gits waaagh" and the little white glyph at the base of one of the main posts says "Cam" in ork glyphs (unfortunately you can't see it in either photo).

Lastly I set up the table for my next game with Alec. Took a cue from my favorite 40k YouTuber WintersSEO and used rocks as rubble and to designate area terrain. Idea here is that his hive fleet bombed the area intending to destroy the Imperial fortification which houses critical communication equipment for the sector. However they had not counted on an active Mechanicus force-field generator. Now they have to send down a strike team to take out the facility the old fashioned way.

If you're worried that I've set him up to fail vs. my shooting army (with the long table). Most of the army he's built can deep strike one way or the other, so he'll be all over me at the end of turn one.

Thanks for stopping by!

Exciting! It fills me with joy when your boys play, gives me hope for the future with mine own. Table looks great. Also, looking forward to your Armigers, but Papa loves a war dog

Oooh very nice! Thats a big swarm of Nids he got there. Can't wait to see some in game pictures.

PS Cams tower and your paints has made for a great terrain piece.

Thought I'd share my table for the next fight between Thing 2's Nids and my Mechanicus. I will hopefully do a full battle report for you.

The battle is entitled "The Defense of Ragged Gulch", and features a Tyranid strike force attacking an Imperial communications tower defended by Draconus Forge.

Details:
2000 pts.
1 Battalion per side (by choice)
Mission: Battle Lines
Primaries as normal. (yawn!) Or a wipe by either side which isn't likely.
Secondary's will be chosen by each of us.
5 turn limit
note: Rocks indicate area terrain, craters, trees and walls of any sort (i.e. moving directly through a crater or over a wall) incur a difficult terrain penalty.

Background:
Hive fleet Leviathan is extending tendrils into this sector of space. Standard practice is to take out enemy communication assets early if such can be identified in order to better mask the movements of the fleet. An Imperial communications tower vital to the movement of information in this sub-sector had been identified by advanced scouting elements and bombed from orbit. Unfortunately the Tyranid scouts did not understand what the shield generator next to the tower was & did not pass on the information. The bombing was amazingly effective at destroying the Imperial installation around the communications tower, yet did nothing to the intended target. Thus the hive fleet has sent a strike force to take out the installation the old-fashioned way (Old One-Eye approves). Unfortunately for the Tyranids, the bombardment alerted the tower's Draconus Forge caretakers of the offensive and Belisarius Cawl has responded with a strong force to repel the attack.

Victory Conditions:
The Tyranids succeed either by driving the defenders back to the point where defense becomes impossible and they withdraw (i.e. winning on objectives), or by wiping out the defenders.
Draconus Forge succeeds by keeping control of the area around the facility (objectives) or by wiping out the attackers.

Special Conditions:
As the defenders, Draconus Forge needs to deploy first as Tyranid scouting elements would be watching and reporting back.
As the attackers, the Tyranids have the option of automatically going first rather than rolling, but if they do so the AdMech may fire over-watch twice in Turn 1 (not the same unit and still paying a CP for each time).
For the purposes of this battle, the shield generator is non-functional.

I don't plan on including army lists unless you guys want me to as I find them rather tedious... but if you want it, I'll do it.

Actually I recorded the battle to make a video battle report. Just summaries of each players turn (don't have the patience to edit a 3 hour video). I'll probably work on it tomorrow and try and get it uploaded some time early next week.

Hey guys.

Finished the building of my Armiger squad. Painting to start either today or tomorrow.

40k videos should start happening very soon. Have two that just need to be edited, plus a Quidisi brush review.

LOL! Just checked the stats for my thread... I'm slowly approaching 2 million views! You guys are nuts!

Thanks guys. Another random side project. Working on my Mantis Warrior base from an old kickstarter. Believe it or not there are 3 shades of green on these. Will eventually come back to them with an airbrush to add highlights and deep shading & even more eventually will add some painted-on details. It'll be nice to have these painted even to this stage though for playing.

Yeah. The buildings are a different shade of green, but there was no way in heck I was going to airbrush the entire set in order to make them match my minis. They'll just have to be a bit different.

Going to be a great looking gaming table. Your going to need to have “someone”, hint, hint show up for an assault on the MW’s base.

Well, ya' know Yorkright... I've been trying to get you to swing by my place and game for YEARS no to no avail. No one to blame but yourself!

Nearly done with the first stage of the MW terrain (spray cans).

Finished the power generators... you guys remember these from the game right? Unfortunately they're all green now, but these will look a lot better after stage 3. Or maybe 4... not exactly sure yet. These have the same color gradients as the rest, unfortunately they don't show up on the photo.

Nearly done with this bad boy... it's HUGE!

Decided to jazz up some of my AdMech figs by adding a green or blue glow to some weapons, etc. This isn't OSL, just quick and dirty to make them look a little nicer and/or make the characters more easily identifiable.

Thanks Yorkright. You need to go to the gallery image to see things clearly. Probably not worth the trip, but things glow nicely now.

First Warglave done. A few small glowy bits on this one too.
