Armigers 2 & 3, group shot and household shot.

I can field this for 2300 points if a upgrade a couple of guns. I do have a 4th armiger I could build (hoping not to) and I just ordered Daemonifuge Ephrael Stern & Kyganil as they are the only things I can add that aren't knight variants. I'm trying to get to 2500 as a nice, round number. If I can snag a couple more rocket pods and claim all the heavy stubbers are really melta guns, I can get within 40. Subbing in a Helforin for the outcasts gets me even closer, but I find the idea of two tiny humanoids suddenly showing up to help out a bunch of titanic machines to be very humorous and appealing.

Busy day yesterday.

Gave a bit of a re-paint to a servitor given to me by Solar_lion. Nothing wrong with his paintjob but it looked very out-of-place when compared to the rest. It was not easy trying to approximate Weety's painting style (who did the rest for me). Pat did such a nice job on the skin that I left that alone (he's the second from the left with the tan). Fiddled with the basing on all of them so they match my AdMech basing better.

Since I was in a servitor mood... I painted up X-101 from one of the Blackstone Fortress sets. Really happy with the way it turned out. Again, painted to approximate Weety's particular style. He's a big dude. Half-again as big as a normal servitor. The brown smudge on his power claw has been fixed, I just didn't re-take the photo.

Also did kind of a crap job on a Culexus assassin. I want to tidy it up a bit before posting.

Thanks guys!

One more for today. Culexus assassin, or cucumber head as I call him. This is not a fancy paint job at all, but it's reasonably neat and gets the idea across. (and I did get some green on the cucumber bit)

Thanks Yorkright!

Just finished building a bunch of stuff to send off to Nerdfest for painting. Lots of orks this time... two old battlewagons, a trukk, painboy, FW warboss on bike, several random Imperial models, my new dragon for Bushido & probably the last 3 skitarii vanguard I'll need for the army.

For my part, I'll start building 2 boxes of pteraxii sterylizors today. Absolutely can not wait to get them painted up and on the table for play testing! Deep-striking jump pack flamers have got to be a living nightmare...

Thanks endtrans... they're a favorite of mine as well.

Current projects.

After a ton of building to send off to Nerdfest for painting, I was ready to attack my AdMech Pteraxii Sterylizors. I opened the box... took one look at the sprues and instructions and hid in the corner in terror.

So I thought I'd give myself a break. Dug out what is probably the simplest kit in 40k history. The Honored Imperium set. God bless it. Made quick work of the building and painting using my old stand-by for terrain... spray cans. Going to wash it & then start thinking about some details to make it pop.

Started thinking about my orks again as my son Alec is getting tired of fighting my AdMech. Discovered something in my Battlescribe files that jogged my memory of models acquired long ago. Grot Bomm Launchas... surprisingly good rules, 50 points a pop for a massively effective 1-shot, indirect-fire gun, after which you're left with a small vehicle with good close combat stats, save & movement. Perfect for zipping across the battlefield and grabbing objectives or finishing off damaged units.

Now, I bought the grot bombs from various sources years ago... but I didn't have the launchas. So I jumped on ebay and found 3 wartracks relatively cheaply... so those are ordered and I'm working on building the got bombs themselves and adding some exhaust smoke. I need to make wings for one of them and I'll need to build launching ramps... but I'm really looking forward to adding these to my army.

That's it for now. Happy hobbying!

Oldhammer:
Thing2 has been after me for a while about getting my Eldar out or starting on my Iyanden army. Thanks to Yorkright, I have a plan for the Iyanden... but while Thing2 was hunting around for his Sisters models (which I think he'd like to start), he ran across my old... mainly Rogue Trader era... Eldar models. So I dug out all of my ancient old stuff and managed to put together a 2k army... mostly craftworld Eldar but with a patrol of Harlequins to bring it to 2k.

I did a bit of repairing, paint touch ups (the original paint is BAD)... I'm not changing that... just cleaning up some colors so they look like they belong together or to make certain weapons easier to recognize. Also needed to re-base my 3 bikes (converted into shining spears years after I bought the originals). These bases are much bigger than the originals came with, but they'll keep them upright at least.

The army is actually really nostalgic, with the farseer being the only modern model in it. Most of it is made up of Rogue Trader or 2nd edition era models. Original guardians, bikes, dreadnought, wraithguard, Epicast falcons, etc. Should be God-awful... but should look very fun (if badly painted).

@Nev: Need to do a quick re-paint and re-basing of some old wraithguard. Then I'll do an army pic. It won't be pretty... literally.

@graven: Indeed my friend. I haven't fielded pointy-ears in many years.

My other project for today... ork barricades!

Look, they can’t be any worse than my oldhammer Eldar. You get a free pass on 20+ year old paintjobs on retro rule of cool.

Thanks Nev! I'll take that pass.

I just found these guys lying in a bag under a pile of other forgotten stuff on a shelf. They've become my second project for the week! I could use one more to field 3 complete squads. Let me know if you have one to spare. I can always find one on e-bay but I thought I'd ask.

Grot Bomms are built and painting has begun. I expect these will go pretty quickly.

Thanks Nev! I really like it too.

While my actual "warboss on bike" figure is wandering to the other side of the planet for painting, I thought I'd cobble one together out of a very cool modified eldar vyper and my ork avatar. You might recognize the figure from the push years ago to have everyone build and paint a model of themselves as an ork. In any case this guy has made the meteoric rise from runtherd to warboss!
