Going to get some paint on this baby right quick! I did a pretty poor job of putting the tracks on. Probably just should have purchased some rubber treads, but... what the heck. It looks OK as is. For scale... this is a bit bigger than a trukk. Unfortunately like most FW stuff it's not very points-efficient. For 35 more points you can have a kannonwagon which has a better save, more hull points and better BS (4 vs 5). But, it's a cool model that I've wanted for a long time... and not every army needs to be kitted out for maximum value.

Basic metals are done on the big trakk. This is Nerdfest's technique. It'll look pretty good once I have all the other colors picked out and painted (rather than being the entirety of the model).

Really excited, and particularly love the colours on the barrel.

I think it looks awesome and that is all that should matter in a game. Fun and awesome looking models should trump "efficiency".

But my Sentinels keep surprising me in what I get out of them so maybe this Kannon will surprise you too?

These are still WIP as I have chipping, rust, weathering and maybe some gunk in the tracks to do... but the basic painting in finished. The rust and the chipping will make a really big difference. As you can see there's still a long way to go.

For the record, having owned one, there is no way to put the tracks on that model. You do the best you can.

Hmmmm, with the teeth so close to the mouth of the siege gun barrel, I wonder if they would get powder burns on them? I love the build and it's so beautifully weathered!

Thank you one and all but I'm still in a building mood. Dug out another FW oldie... Kill Tank with bursta cannon. I have the other variation too. Think for the time being I'm just going to assemble the other gun and magnetize one of the sides of this hull so I can switch them out (the tank is cool but like most FW, very overpriced... so it's unlikely I'd ever field both outside of an Apoc game (which don't happen very often around here).

The orks have NOT been retired! Nerdfest is doing a bunch of ork stuff for me too. So there should be plenty of new toys to play with.

Just thought I'd share this. I'm putting together an army to play a friend's IG next week. Didn't want to make it too competitive, just fun. Here's what I ended up with... most of my favorite ork models in one bunch (minus the 30 boys that'll go into the trukks). The smallish red tank is going to serve as a mek gun bubble chucka... which is a total waste of points but too fun not to field (d6 shots, d6 strength, d6 AP & d6 wounds). Of course I have to have the grot bomms, big trakk, squiggoth and mega dred. Leading the lot is my dakka avatar on looted vyper (warboss on bike).




Have also been working on that kill tank. Modified the gun port so that both guns can slip in and out of it from the front, allowing me to properly build the rest of the tank. I'm nearly out of black primer though so I've been milking the can for every last little bit and I *just* made it. At some point I may need to add a small magnet in the hull to help the guns to stay put (probably not an issue). The dozer blade and engine/exhaust aren't attached yet for ease of painting. I'll have to do either pinning or magnets to get the blade to stay while the model is being used in game as the existing mounting points simply won't do. I also need to build some kind of LOS-blocking shield around the base of the big kannon as a little too much of the hole in the hull shows around it for my liking.

It is nice to see the Waaagh back in action!

Making progress on the Kill Tank. Used the iron gob from the squiggoth to make the "shield" for the big kannon. Everything is metal colored... that means I can play it, right?
