Nice! using those spare icons, hey?

Well, I actually bought a few sets of those icons so I would have some to make into objectives, but regrettably they're much, much smaller than I initially anticipated. I thought they'd fill up a 40mm pretty well, but those barely cover a 25mm! I'm still happy with them, just wish my objectives could've been a little bigger. Anyway, expect to see a bunch of them on my not-so-secret-but-kind-of-still-secret project soon!

It was actually pretty simple. Black undercoat, then I painted the whole thing with Regal Blue, which is Kantor Blue now. Then I washed the recesses with Badba Black (Nuln Oil?) to sort of get a shading/blacklining effect. The edges were highlighted with Ultramarines Blue (Altdorf Guard Blue or something silly) and the blacks were highlighted with Adeptus Battlegrey, with the metallics all done as Boltgun Metal with Badab Black wash. Finally, I drybrush a good chunk of the vehicle Graveyard Earth, making sure to get in some recesses to simulate dirt buildup. Finally, I do another drybrush of Kommando Khaki that isn't quite as heavy and doesn't go up as high. Hope that helps!

Well as of this moment I haven't even drawn the warm soapy bath for the Contemptor yet I got a little distracted by some Valhallans I started painting.

Really diggin' on those objective markers.

Thanks! I got to use them for the first time in my game on Thursday, and managed to hold 2/5 of them!. I'm going to try and remember to bring my notebook/camera to some games soon so I can do up some battle reports again.

Cool I love IG/SM team ups, they work great on the battlefield, check out my new BatRep (wip) it's also got some close up pics of my Ultras you mentionned an interest in, in mine and Alex's first Batrep about 100 years ago..

Also, the icon on his cap is a skull, but the detail is a little muddy from the old paint and the new primer. If it was a fist that would be pretty cool though!

You should totally make em into fists, I like the idea of auxiliary units working with Marines, and it could take the place of big red stars which might be to obviously soviet and you might have fist logos lying around spare..

Should I just say feth it and use a 'standard' marine head for pedro, or go buy his actual head from a bits site? (got him in a trade and no head was included )

It's about time I did something with the Fists!

I don't think I'd use a "standard" Marine head straight out of the tactical squad box or anything. I'd probably use either the helmeted head with the multiple lenses that comes in the commander box, the head with a crew cut from the Devastator squad set, or try and find the Crimson Fists conversion packs:

I have yet to post pics of them on my own blog, but I have a sternguard squad made of BT parts and CF helmets, pads, and backpacks

And by standard, I meant plastic, Id definately use a blinged out helmet. Im gonna scrouge and see if I have any CF heads left.

Just some more progress on the Stormguppy/Stormgoldfish/Spacefish/Stormtalon:

My pot of Mephiston Red got lost in the move, so I'll have to wait til I can get to my FLGS before painting either the Fist iconography or the Techmarine.

Still haven't gotten to get Mephiston Red, but I sucked it up and used some of the old reds I have lying around. Anyway, Stormtalon is done!
