Does not compute.

Really? Are you serious, or is my sarcasm meter just broken? I think he explained it rather precisely, but I'll give it a shot too.

You quoted almost three dozen people (yourself included) who, at the moment of first sight, wanted to drop the ~$100 without further question. If the first time you had seen those pics was right next to the "Pre-Order" button on the GW website, GW would have their three grand in pocket instantly. Instead, the pre-order doesn't go up until next Saturday, but you've seen the pics now.

If even one of those people changes his mind between now and Saturday, then GW has lost money. That means "showing things at the last minute" makes more money than "showing things early". When you're a corporation, and you find out that X makes more money, then that is what you are supposed to do.

They have confirmed this with their own sales figures. They printed an official statement of exactly that in their annual financial report, which means unless you believe they have committed the actual crime of defrauding investors (as opposed to merely figuratively robbing us blind), then you have to accept it as fact. You don't have to like it - I'm sure none of us do. But, unfortunately, they are right on this one.

So, I'm sorry, but... you're wrong.

- H8

Hey, I can do anecdotal evidence and hypothetical situations too!

Bobby plays 40k, and is interested in either DA or Chaos. But he doesn't have a clue when anything is coming out, because, let's face it, GW hasn't got the best track record when it comes to telling people anything.
So Bobby, not knowing that the shiny new starter set is coming out, uses the money that would have been put to that to buy something else instead. A few weeks later, when the set is released, Bobby's already spent the money he would have put aside for the starter set, and doesn't buy it.

Looks like GW lost some money right there.

Wouldn't Bobby just buy it later, when he has money?

The thing about an impulse buy is that it has tobe right now. If Bobby is interested in DA, it isn't an impulse buy and will just happen later.

Omadon's Realm

I strongly dislike the Deathwing Assault Cannon termie's pose.

Everything else is good, the Chaos looks excellent. I really hope the entire chaos line is in for this sort of re-imagining. Away with 'spikes on everything make them evil' and in with a return to realm of chaos style aesthetics, more fused armour, more twisted and arcane and weird.

Right, but he is limited edition, so first X boxes get him in it.

Well...this particular set has "LIMITED EDITION" on the box, so it's probably not the "regular set".

Didn't see the sign on the box.

Only thing that I really dislike is the duplicate sculpts in all the units (and the lead cultist's face, wtf is that ).

And hopefully the Terminators are not undersized this time around.

But all in all 85,- euros is a reasonable price for all that.

I kind of like his "Come get some" stance. Although that Sergeant is pure beast. I love the sword, the pose, the huge wings on back. Might need a whole squad of that body.

They definately appear to be made like the Space Hulk Terms. Just from the poses and the way the arms sit, it looks just like the SH peg-hole assembly style.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Ok, I'm annoyed I'll miss out on that special Chaplain, hopefully I can get him on a bitz site, but I'm going to have to save up for a couple of these.

It may just be a trick of perspective, but it almost looks like the Lord and Chosen are a bit taller and heftier than normal Marines, and I'll be super-happy if so since it means they'll translate to Artscale with modification minor enough to preserve all that delicious detailing.

EDIT: Also - Dat Hellbrute Simultaneously close enough to the existing Dreadnought that using the older style and FW models isn't an issue, while also being super-awesome. I'm going to agree with previous posters that, if this is what we're in store for with the new CSM codex, I'll be struggling not to get a new army.

So that's £65-70.

I want to say that's pretty good value but am aware that it could just be over exposure to GW prices?

As for the Deathwing - I dub thee Nipplefists.

Slightly distracting but nothing 5 minutes with a decent knife wont resolve.

70 seems reasonable for the set, atleast compared to recent battleforce prices. Looking forward to getting my hands on the kit though.

Not sure if serious?

It is a mini one after-all.

Has anyone done a count from the full book for rules? The rules take up competitively little space from my brief read of the CE version.

I would be severely disappointed it it was an "get you started" version.

Looks more like a leaflet than compared to the previous mini rulebooks from AoBR and IoB

gilljoy posted this on Warseer:

£65 and includes

1 Dark Angels Company Master
1 Dark Angels Librarian
5 Deathwing Terminators
10 Dark Angel Tactical Marines
3 Ravenwing Bikes
1 Interrogator-Chaplain(only while supplies last of Dark Vengeance Box Set)
1 Chaos Lord
6 Chosen
1 Helbrute
20 Chaos Cultists
48p How To Play Booklet
1 Reference Sheet
168p Rulebook
1 Flamer Template
1 Small Blast Marker
1 Large Blast Marker
1 Dice Pack
2 Range Rulers

So, I'm not sure how to take "only while supplies last of Dark Vengeance Box Set" .....

Are there 2 Editions that cost the same but 1 with and 1 without the Chappy, so buy first and fast to get a chance at it?
Maybe it's... we made 50000 copies for the first run and the Chappy won't be in the second run?
Or... There's 2 sets and you need to specify which?

It really does go on in the amount of scenarios.

Funny that this 'leak' comes out during Gencon when all the other companies are showing off their hotness. I like the Chaos Chosen and the Hell Brute. I'm wondering if Chaos will have their marine elements reduced and be 'forced' to take cultist core troops.

Excellent. These models look great. I'm in for one. I was planning on it for the rulebook anyway, but maybe I'll switch to Chaos for the escalation league I'm planning. Chaos is begin to grow. And this time around, it's true.

Hmmm... that could be as well.

Then the Chappy would only be in the full boxed set, therfore it's still technically "Limited" to only that set.

Dark Angels were my first army and it saddens me to say that I am so disappointed in the Chaplain and Deathwing. The Librarian and Company Master are sweet though. I don't even own or play Chaos but those models are fantastic. Hellbrute and Chosen Lord, +100! The Necromunda gang members are bad assery! Wait, it claims those are Chaos Cultists, must be a typo.

Still seems a lot to me. Not because you don't get a decent amount of stuff in the box, but as an initial buy-in for new gamers it should be cheaper. £50 is a good threshold for the first game to draw people in.
