Apart from that you may want the armour to look more ornate and "bony" by the looks of the new CSMs so this will most likely require god like green stuff skills if you have them. If not simply a new chaos like paint job maybe enough to make the difference.

Oh and file off the shoulder DA symbols replace with chaos ones.

Maybe go for some of the Fallen Angel backpacks? They can easily be Fallen Dark Angels...

You can add me to that list too.

These models are very nice, but as was noted earlier, they are VERY specific - there isn't as much 'potential' in them as there perhaps should be in a starter set.

Plus, the highly anticipated cultist models? They turned out more than a little goofy looking.

The only thing I want from this is the mini rulebook.

So, my wallet is safe too!

I do agree with the models looking very specific, the only thing from that box which would fit into my Death-Guard army is the Hellbrute and possibly the cultists if I mixed in zombie parts.

Yeah, i think they're awsome. Not just Guardsmen with chaos symbols, actual cultists.

I'm not sure... as I mentioned in a post above, I feel that the Chosen are way too crowded already, and not many suitable flat areas to work on. Actually looking back on them, they do look kinda warped already... maybe a nurgle paint job would be enough.

Wow, I wasn't expecting the Chaos Models to be that good! With that level of detail on them I almost would hate to think how boring Black Legion would be.

I'll (try to) take this...
Personally, I don't like any of the close combat Cultists, minus the Champion. I find their poses look 'wonky' and weapons oversized. I dislike the helmets on the autogun cultists and whilst they're cultist-y, I'm not a fan of the clothing (although I can't imagine the paint job helps with that) and I think a lot of it is more suited for WHFB.

However, I do really like the Heavy Weapon fellas and the autogun cultists with the hoods (the 3rd and 4th on top row, 1st and 2nd on bottom).
I'll still be going halves on the box and keeping the Dark Angels though, but I'll have to trim some of the power swords - I don't like how many are larger at the top of the blade...

Wyrmalla wrote:=/ Seems like the Hellbrute's just a Contemptor on the cheap (even the same wargear....). I mean I'll still look out for it, but its rules are hardly original as they stand now (though I guess they have to be simple for the kids and what not...).

It is essentially a possessed Dreadnought. A dreadnought and a contemptor are roughly the same thing, the contemptor being slightly larger, so not really surprising they would still share common weapon options. Not sure what additional new options you were expecting, Chaos has had the same general weaponry for most of their existence. The butcher cannon is new, but I'm glad they're not just making up new weapons for the hell of it.

I'm more or less happy with the rules. I wish it had a daemon 5++ save, though. Still, I think I'll have a trio of these for my Death Guard. Hopefully there will be a actual kit as well with the other weapon options.

Damn, I just realized with these in Elite, you could have 3 w/ Butcher cannons, and several Obliterator squads and autocannon Havocs(which are apparently dirt cheap) in Heavy Support. Chaos will have the potential to be a very shooty army.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

I agree many of the cultists aren't that good, they look like those Necromunda hive gang models. Which is fine and dandy to a degree, but I think cultists should a bit more like damned children of Chaos and less like street filth.

The hellbrute looks great though.

Gonna have to agree though, I really like the cultists whom are geared up for long range. The ones whom are geared up for close combat just look rather silly; the Hellbrute is awesome!

Meh. I think the Cultists are great. They're simply perfect for Necromunda, will make great cannon fodder for my Chaos and LatD armies, and are simply amazing for Dark Heresy. No longer will my Necromunda models always act as Cultists!!!

There's quite a lot of pages so I hope this hasn't been asked before, but what models from Chaos, if any, are in finecast?

To me it looks as though GW has stepped up on their modeling for this box sex. From the pictures I don't see how any of these models could possibly be 2 piece like most of the space marines from AOBR. My only guess is that these are going to be multi part models which makes me even more excited to get my hands on the Chaos stuff because that means it will be easier for conversions.

Of the starter models? None.

Of the Codex models? Probably the Apostle, Iron Father and whatever reissues they do of existing special chars. If Kharn is new he'll be Finecost as well.

Thanks, that's good to know. I got a little worried since on one of the scans two of the chosen look exactly the same.

You think GW having all it's surprises spoiled would, you know, just release the official info earlier.

Not sure why they wouldn't do it now, obviously they have schedules, but still.

That would be logical thinking, but one thing I have come to realize in the past 2 years of buying GW products is that they are not logical.

Not everyone uses internet forums, so it's still in "suspense" for many-to-most I'd imagine.

Really? The guy in the top right looks identical to the guy in the bottom middle, even after a close examination. Hopefully it doesn't mean anything, it would be a shame to have these guys be in finecast. But that would be first for a starter set or battleforce right? Those have always been plastic only I think.

Why are you thinking they would be in finecast because they are repeat sculpts? Makes no sense. Plus that would mean all the identical tac marines and cultists would be in finecast.

There is absolutely no chance that any of those models would be Finecast. They plan to sell a LOT of these boxes, which means it's easier and cheaper to make them all-plastic.

I like the Cultists. The ones with the pistols and CCWs kind of have that older 'Necromunda' look so I think they will fit in well with some of my Cawdors, Scavvies and old Chaos Cultists.

I doubt it, they all look like they will be snap tight like AoBR.... I mean, come on now, some of the best models in GW's line come from space hulk which is entirely single piece or two piece models. I am sure they will be limited in assembly to make it a good starter for entry level players.
