Prices on starter sets thankfully are not being notched up at this time with Dark Vengeance, the standard set will cost the same as Assault On Black Reach. That's $99 in the US.

Fantastic! £61.50, which if I split with my friend I'll spend £30.75. And if we spend another 25p each we can a large "Bag for life*" to carry it!

*A bag for life is just a plastic bag except they are ultradurable (I tried break it and couldn't) and completely recycable and compostable, and if it gets damaged you can bring it in and get a free replacement.

Are you accusing GW of copying Mantic? Mantic didn't invent the concept of low production values you know!

Sorry, I just wanted to reverse that argument just once. All in good fun.

Nah, they're copying Metallica who copied Spinal Tap.

Perhaps the box is Limited Edition with art to follow on the mainstream version.

So for those out of the loop, or too young. What were choas cultists (and Sob) like back in the day?

Would be good to contrast how GW has changed over the many years it has been growing into the omnipresent super power of today.

They didn't as such, Sisters only came in towards the end of 2nd edition and are the same models produced now. There was no range of Sororitas before that, I think they did a figure or two but they were just slim looking Space Marines and nothing like the current lot. Chaos cultists had a set of figures for 2nd edition but the range seemed fairly short lived, they mostly had bare chests and wore robes from the waist down from what I recall. Before that non-marine Chaos stuff was a range of various mutant type characters, they didn't have a uniform range of cultists that I remember.

With a helmet like that on a nameless captain model, I wonder what Azrael's resculpt will look like

I must say again how impressive the detail on these models is, especially considering they are all snap together.

Don't you mean September? Well that annoys me because I need to get the CSM (Lord Chosen and Hellbrute) done by the end of September and having only 3 weeks to do so pisses me off, and I don't want to drop an extra £1.75 so my friend can MAYBE get a Chaplain.

When I say MAYBE its because I think some people are going to preorder and be let down as with 6th ed Gamers and Collector edition.

Did anyone else notice in this months WD, that the forces of Chaos did not win a single encounter(not including first one since its a play aginst yourself)? If I was a brand new to 40K player that had chosen the chaos army, I think I would feel pretty put out that it seems like the force I picked never stands a chance aginst the opposing DA player. I think it would have been better for this starter set if the Chaos forces had recived the limited edition model and that it had been a Sorcerer or a pair of Obliterators.

Wait, we are judging the performance of a new army based on batt-reps in a magazine that despite being owned by GW manages to get the rules wrong and fields illegal armies on a regular basis?
