Hello folks! Its MMXIII!!!!

I thought I'd do something special for this month's 'Vow' thread.

Along with your ambitions for the month, feel free to mention something you'd like to get accomplished modeling wise for this year in general.


For January:

I'm still not sure for this one yet; There's this hobby challenge that I'm thinking about joining. I just need to look up the rules for it. If I decide to partake in it then most likely my January (as well as the rest of the year's) vow might reflect that. In the meantime...:

1. Get the Dark Vengeance Chaos Space Marine models built.
2. Get the Cygnar Trencher Sharpshooter, Officer, Gun Crew, and Maxwell Finn built.
3. Get all the models in both the Hordes and Warmachine starters built.
4. Get all the models in the Ariadna (Infinity) starter built.
5. Get an Infinity Promo model built
6. Get all the models in the Lilith (Malifaux) Starter box built.
7. Get five Finecast Dark Eldar cleaned up and built.


For the year:

Like I mentioned, once I look through the hobby challenge rules and consider joining, my vows for the year may change. In the meantime...:

1. Finish (built, painted, based, and sealed) a 1500pt Dark Eldar Army
2. Finish (built, painted, based, and sealed) all the models from Isle of Blood

1. Stop buying models because I'll never get my army painted at this rate.
2. Disregard step one and acquire more models anyway.
3. Work on my airbrushing,
4. Work on different weathering techniques, especially pigments.
5. Finish at least two more assault squads.

For the year:

1. Actually update my P&M blog
2. Get Blood Angels fully painted and pretty

Vows for january...

1. Buy, build and paint a DC dreadnought. (easy)
2. Paint CSM lord on bike and three biker champions (failed this vow in december :( )
3. Buy, build and paint two IG command squads, three squads and three heavy weapon teams (not so easy)
4. If i have time, i will buy, build and paint a chimera and a vendetta for my IG ally detatchement.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

For the year:
Paint my helbrute, that i will never even use in a game...ever

for january:

- assemble and paint SM terminator captain for my salamanders army (first time working with metal)
- start conversion work on night lords sorcerer/chaos lord: magnetize backpack/wings, magnetize force sword/power axe (first time working with finecast)

for 2013:

- paint up the 1500pts of CSM models I bought
- improve my airbrushing skills
- play my first game of 40k!

Hello all!!

Vows for January...

1. Finish my Astral Claws Tactical unit #1-- This includes basing and decals and top coat.
2. Finish painting the Land Raider Crusader-- Ive got base colors on it , but no detail yet
3. Finish converting my Astral Claws Biker unit-- im using Lions from the High Elf Chariots as mounts and Scouts as the riders. Ill play with them pointed out as Bikers, and the same equipment options as bikes, but they will be cavalry instead.
4. Paint the 3 scout bikers for the Astral Claws-- I made sweet jetbikes out of them..pics to follow.
5. Continue to cast my newly scuplted Starship Deck Plating bases. I made a bunch and cast them. pics to follow.

Vow for the Year...

1. Finish all the new Terrain for the Bugeater Grand Tournament---Slaanesh themed table, Tzeencth--think MC escher.., Eldar Maiden world..
2. Start and Finish my Kroot Mercenaries army...already made some great trades in the Swap Shop!!

Finish Aragorn.
Paint a Morannon Orc.
Paint a Ranger.

Not too ambitious.

For January

Finish my sm assault squad
Finish my dreadnaught
Finish the last two members of my first rac squad

For 2013

Make major progress with my marine army, and get my eldar well underway'
Improve my painting in general.

For January

Complete my Master of the forge
Complete Imhotekh
Complete Tau suit for friend
Finish 1250 pt marine list.

For 2013
Cease purchasing models until back log is complete.

Paint the 3.5 Warp Talons I started on Saturday, which I shoulda left for January.

For january
1 fiinsh off painting my ice eldar army
2 play a game with the ice eldar army
3 start work on my lizardmen army

For the year
1complet lizardmen army
2 post pics of armies

Oh god. Finish my kroot, Stelth Team, Devil fish, Maybe my reaper bones.

1: Work on my airbrushing (finally got one! wuhu!)
2: Try to buy and paint 250 pts (40k) of an army each months.
3: Try to stick to an army, and build up 1500pts.
4: Try to do more modelling/conversion on important miniatures.

1. Finish my Sisters Repentia - Complete (started and finished in a day!)
2. Paint two SM tactical squads

no monthly goal but a yearly goal:

1. Buy and assemble all dark vengeance models

This sounds pretty achievable.

1. Paint all my stuff one army at a time.
2.Stop buying models for armies I don't even play.
3. Get an airbrush and use it.
4. Ignore step 2 in most situations.

Some Status:

Apparently with no cats around pieces and tools don't disappear on you. YAY!

On a side note, I'm really pleased with how my paint scheme is turning out. The purple looks really good with the black and red.

Only one vow for January, supposed to be busy with exams, so:

Goal: paint my heretek/mechanicus flying-brain machine...

I'll see about some pics if I actually get this one finished - I've been putting it off far too long...

So, like a dope I posted on December's thread instead of this one. Sigh.

My War Altar took a lot more time than I anticipated, so my Jan goal is simply to get these Wood Elves done



Oh, and some Dryads too. There is a big WFB game in two weeks (30,000 pts per side!!) and our intention is to have all painted models.

My 2013 goals include

Get an airbrush and re-doing all of my IG tanks to look uniform and do some weathering on them.

Scratch build a Luminark of Hysh

Build some buildings/fortifications for terrain & scenario battles

For January - Sell all unwanted models, mainly DE.

For year -

1. Find a Necron Megaforce for sale,
2. Buy and paint Necron Megaforce,
3. Start playing again.

For Janurary:

1. Finish Test Model for Disciples of Caliban paint scheme that i'm now not probably going to use anyway (YAY for productiveness).
2. Build this vendetta that has been it's box for a couple of months.
3. Atleast basecoat some of the IG or Orks I have in waiting.
4. Buy a few paints that I need.
5. Buy some models I don't need.

For the Year:

1. Buy a house
2. Buy display cases for models once in said house
3. Possibly look at a gaming table if we get the space

For January:

1) Have an awesome 23rd birthday (end of the month)
2) Finish building my bastions and aegis defense lines. Get first color of paint down on them
3) Finish one Blackwater Gulch gang.

I am over half done on the second goal.
I have 1 model cleaned up and ready to base on the 3rd goal. I figure 5 models is something I can do in one month.

I have decided on easily obtained goals. I usually overshoot and nothing gets done. This way I will get something done.

Mid month update:

1. Waiting on paints to be delivered, will be completed once they arrive.
2. This weekend.
3. I've changed this goal to build all models I have so far, doing quite well so far.

Halfway point update:

The Glade Riders are nearly fully assembled
Elven steeds are primed

and I am working on some archers in order to practice shading, layering, and faces/eyes:



There is only a little detail work left on the archers, then the bases. I will probably prime the Elves tonight and start painting tomorrow. Won't make it to have a completely painted army for the mega-battle, sigh.

I got back from offshore Thursday and have got most of what I wanted done, I now have the last 3 of my first squad of Plague Marines done, I also have a rhino done for them (stolen ultramarines) so just have Typhus to paint up to use as my CSM lord for a small game on Wednesday which I should hopefully get done fairly easily. Then it will be a case of buying some standard CSM and the forgeworld death guard upgrade pack. This will be the first army I actually paint as I buy it, I tried it with my Tau and bought a squad of fire warriors, when I came back from offshore the time after I had almost 2000 points sitting there and it still is so doing it this way is fun for me as I can see it growing as I go
