Could that have to do with the rumour FW will be available on the revamped GW site? Could lines of communication be getting crossed and it's a FW piece?
I can't really think of a better explanation unless GW are removing the distinction between GW actual and FW and throwing everything in together.
So, the Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith walls released for LOTR years and years ago were a harbinger of FW/ GW blurring the lines?
Or maybe the weird little resin chapel bit with a fake stained glass thing was?
Why are you getting so easily offended and trying to come off as such a hard ass over someone speculating something?
He's not offended, Kan just leans a bit towards the "intense" end of the spectrum, toy soldiers is srs bznz.

You have to remember that GW are still only just discovering the internet exists and have not yet figured out how to have a webstore that doesn't sell more of a product than they actually have. These dang new fangled interwebs are very confusing.

The VSG has rules in Stronghold Assault, IIRC it effectively means all units (models?) that are within 12" of the model get an additional AV12 shield that any incoming fire from outside 12" has to defeat before the shot is resolved against the target. You can take multiples and overlap the bubbles too. Don't hold me to that though, I've only just quickly flipped through a copy.
Feth.... Sounds to me like a little bit of a void grenade target.

Given that customer service lines are only open Monday to Friday, "a reader on Faeit212" certainly has an inside track on GW...

Yodhrin wrote:The fact that, as you say, they sold out quickly, which indicates many more people wanted one, means that every reseller who bought one of these was depriving a genuine customer of the opportunity to purchase one.
No they weren't. Because those resellers are going to, you know, resell them.
All that the people who want one have to do to stop this from continuing to happen is refuse to pay an inflated price from those resellers.
Except that's not going to happen, because for the large part those resellers don't even set that inflated price. This stuff just goes up on eBay and people bid crazy amounts because they wants it.
But that person bidding crazy amounts for it on eBay is still ultimately a 'genuine customer' and they still wind up with the piece at a price that they are apparently willing to pay.

So here is a bit of news.
I was at GW early today and they have an employees closet, its often a crack open and never of anything important in there. But today I saw the Void Shield Generator box sitting there.
Considering they went on sale for pre order Friday its a little odd that GW stores would have them already, which means they have had it since Wednesday (when the usually restock shipment comes in for all GWs and Indys in north America).

The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Emphasis mine.
They talk up the packaging a bit in the product description, then this seems a bit of an odd phrase (why not just "1000 worldwide?")
Could be reading too much into it, but another unlimited run in different packaging would keep them out of trouble.

Makes sense. And the original is still a "collector's item" because it comes in a limited edition box, so technically the "value" isn't harmed at all.
But yeah, I doubt they'll do that. Though I kinda wish they would, not because I want one since it's an ugly piece, but just to kick resellers in the balls, who all know for a fact that their items don't have any real value and no one's going to blow hundreds of dollars on a fancy box when likely all they want is the toy.

This is the same company that a few weeks ago claimed they had an 8" when it was only a 6" and had to amend it and can't even get the wording of their rulebooks correct... I wouldn't put too much stock in to the phrasing on their website, lol.

Which means that all GW stores got one, leaving the online pre order with whatever is left. Means also the Manager or the employees have already called dibs on them. Not much of a insane sell out when you give it to your own people first.
Tinfoil hat time:
They sold like 10 online and made it seem like it disappeared like a hot cakes. GW is known for creating fake "shortages". Makes the future plastic VSG kit sell that much more.

True, but they might not actually count those as part of the "limited edition run".
I know that a few of the limited edition Black Library source books like Sabbat Worlds Crusade and 13th Black Crusade had non-numbered runs for staff members.

I can't believe that all GW stores got this mail order extremely limited item a week early to add to their terrain pile.
They also didn't get limited edition Codices for their paper recycling bin.
Why should GW suddenly lose its secrecy about new products?
