Subject: Days of Future Past - Trailer 3 - EVEN MORE Nostalgia Edition
I was pretty skeptical about the first trailer, but this one has me on board 100%.
The Blackbird looks exactly like it did in the 90's Cartoon. Fassbender as Magneto just looks so great. So much win in the trailer it's unreal. The only way I could get more hyped about this is if they somehow incorporate the 90's cartoon theme.

I spent the first few X-men films being disappointed that Iceman and Rogue never did anything cool with their powers.
Last Stand might have been a half decent film if Rogue had joined the fight at the last minute having decided not to get cured after all. It actually makes more sense in narrative terms - why would you have her in the film if she's just going to skulk off and not doing anything?
And don't get me started on Cyclops - side-lined for most of X2 and then killed off at the beginning of Last Stand
I doubt even the sword of Anti-Healing Plot Device would prevent a Deus Ex Machina for comic Wolversue.

Holy gak. This just became my most anticipated film of the year.
Seriously, everything about this looks amazing. And that cast... O.o

In the comic version of this, Wolverine did indeed get murderized by a Sentinel. That won't happen here, because Wolverine is the one going back in time; a job that was given to a different character in the comic story. Since you can't kill Wolverine in the future and then have him travel into the past to save the future, they will have to kill someone else. Unless they re-write things to have him "die" in the past. Of course, anyone who thinks he would still be dead at the end of the movie should seriously consider buying this prime real estate in Florida I own...

I realize they're sending Wolvie back, so his death is unlikely, but as long as Storm and Colossus die the way they're supposed to in the comics, and maybe have Kitty get fried instead of Wolvie (complete switcheroo), that would work for me. It's not that I crave their deaths, it's that I want a few nods in the direction of those of us who have actually read the DotFP comic, and those proper deaths are completely possible. I request Kitty die the same way as Wolverine should in the comics simply because they put him into her role in this movie (Hugh Jackman is their money maker though, hard to deny him being the pivotal role) and should put her into his original role too.

I saw Blink, and I am now even happier than I was. Plus Bishop. I realize Blink wasn't part of the regular DotFP, but she was a part of Xavier's future team in Wolverine and the X-Men show. Good to see them draw tiny bits from all over. She and Bishop are both instantly recognizable to any X-Men fan. If they aren't, you aren't a fan; hand in your card.

So anyone else thinking Beast will be doing the Wolvie death homage scene from that trailer?

I don't know whether we will see characters like Beast in the future segments, as the future part is set after the death of a lot of the X-Men.
I doubt they'd show Beast's death after Wolverine refers to it so flippantly.
What i'm most curious about is the fact that Charles can walk in some scenes and we see Magneto obtain his helmet from a museum. I wonder if the events of First Class have been altered by Wolverines "Time Travelling".

If Magneto is locked up, it makes sense that they'd store his helmet away with other mutant artefacts.

I, too, was curious about Xavier walking. Perhaps they'll explain it in the movie. If they explain it, they might have a valid reason (avoid stupidity like wolverine/adamantium bullet), but if he's just walking around like nothing happened, I sense an empty popcorn bucket in my hands and lots of it near the screen.

hotsauceman1 wrote: So, does this share continuity with First Class(By far the Best X-men Movie) With beast not looking like beast and Xavier walking?
I was wondering this myself.
Theory 1: Wolvie goes back to BEFORE First Class, to recruit the original team before they're called together in FC. But that doesn't explain why Magneto refers to X as 'old friend' when they hadn't met at that point.
Theory 2: Beast finds a cure somehow, and X walking is far from the greatest recovery he's made (like coming back from the dead. Very interested to see how they handle that one).
Both of those are potentially full of holes, though.
At this point, though, I'm just looking forward to it. The last 2 X-movies (FC and The Wolverine) have both been awesome (and hey, I even liked Origins with the exception of 'Deadpool'). Fox has been looking for an answer to the Avengers, and this could be it. With Warner doing the justice League, Disney doing The Avengers, and Fox doing X-Men, there has never been a better time to be a super-hero fan.

As I heard it these are the rumors about the Beast/Xavier walking issues, spoilered just in case.
Spoiler:
Beast created a serum that keeps the blue fuzzies in check, but has to take it frequently.
He also created some bit of tech that allows Xavier to walk, but it is problematic. Part of the movie is younger Xavier learning to accept that he is paralyzed.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

In the Wolverine and the X-Men series, future Xavier found mechanized walkers that helped him to walk and run. I suspect future Xavier will have a similar setup in this, as part of his future team is drawing from that show, and it gives X-Fans something to work with. I'm more curious about young Xavier.

This.
I enjoyed the entire trailer, but the one thing that really struck me is that they have finally, after already having 2(?) films with him in, managed to get Iceman's powers right. He doesn't do that crappy energy beam gak from The Last Stand, he zooms around the battlefield on his own ski ramp made of ice doing jumps and laughing the entire time, and the fact that they've finally gotten this right makes me very very happy.
