peter dinklage's performance during the trial was stellar, I do hope he wins another supporting actor award this year.

My guess for stuff covered in the last three Episodes:

Spoiler:
The Mountain and The Viper: Trial by Combat of course, don't know if they will show the long term effects yet, but cliffhanger should be the punch.

The Watchers on the Wall: Attack on the wall. No idea how long they will go with the battle (will it spill into the final episode?). I don't know if they will have Stanis arrive, but I would guess either this episde or next.

Side stories with Dany, Sansa, Arya could go anywhere there.

The Children: This could really be anything. I'm guessing that they will try to tidy up Bran (Coldhands?), Arya (bury the Hound? Decide to go to Bravos?), Tyrion (visit Daddy?), Tommen?, Sansa?, Dragons (Starting to act up, maybe a new set of bones being shown that are not as easy to digest for Mother?), John Snow?

Side stories are wide open as well there though.

I have no idea what the cliff hanger could be. Season 1 was Dany surviving the fire with her Dragons. Season 2 was the White Walker staring down Sam. Season 3 was Dany being carried and welcomed as Queen. If there is a Fire/Ice/Fire/Ice thing going on we might end up with something north related. Maybe Coldhands will make a dramatic entrance.

Possible good "left hanging" story lines would be Tyrion's visit and Stanis arriving, but they just don't seem to fit that final "scene..........and cut" style that they have had for the last 3 seasons.

What I would love to see, and what could also tie in with the name of the final episode: Some of Walder Frey's children being captured by the Brotherhood of Banners, and then we get a nice shot of Lady Stoneheart taking care of them. Nice closeup of her face.....and cut to credits. And all the non-book readers going 'Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat"

I think that Stannis's arrival will be a season 5 thing. I think we'll get the first battle at the wall this season. Although that's lost some of it's oomph the way they handled it. It was supposed to be a shining example of Jon's ability to lead. Which I guess they gave him via that ranging he just got back from.

I hope not. I want stannis to arrive and kick some major ass and redeem himself. Because he is a fantastic character in the books.

I don't want another fething cliff hanger!

Yes. He did. He held against Mace Tyrell for months.
He is probably the most just and interesting character. Everyone hates him. He's the last true baratheon.

If he dies the Baratheon line ends as well.

Is the Tyrell army any good? I thought he was a bit dull in the books but am liking him in the show - not sure everyone hates - he has an adoring wife IIRC and loyal subjects?

I thought he had at least one (maybe more) daughters?

GRM will probably make up a whole load of pointless Baratheons in the next book to wast time on - he did it with the Targaryens

Nah, I like the show version much better than the book version. He seems less and bumbling idiot in the show. In the books he seems to rigid and to one dimensional. In the show he seems to be able to be slightly more accepting of what it would take to actually rule.

We're gonna get another cliff hanger. And i just can't see them fitting in (seriously don't read if you don't want major spoilers):

Spoiler:
-Battle of the interior Wall (Battle of Moles Town/Whatever)
-Battle at the Wall
-Stannis's intervention at the Wall (a seperate battle after Jon treats with Mance)
-Red Vyper duel
-Tyrion killing Tywin & escaping
-Cold Hands
-Momma Stark killing Freys

All while adding in an actual battle at castle in the neck to enhance Ramsay's character. Also, I can't remember as it's been a while but no one mentions that Arya is alive to Brienne do they in the books?

Petyr and Tyrion are the truly standout long term actors for this show. Though Oberyn is absolutely amazing. They all dominate any scene they are in. To a lesser extent Arya, Dany, and Bronn do so as well.

On your list, I think we know #4 is this season (think we've seen brief shots of that scene), and I suspect that #5 and #7 will be this season too. As has been said, #7 seems like ideal material for the last shot in season 4. I think #1-3 almost have to be split across seasons 4 and 5. Too much happens at the Wall.

Personally I want to see
Spoiler:
the stories of the Knight of the Laughing Tree and the Night's King told onscreen in whichever season.

We're already well past the point in the book when Coldhands made his first appearance, right?

We are but I figure its something they plan on using for Bran to keep him a legitimate character. Kinda like spreading stuff out on the wall with Jon and with Arya with the Hound. I think we're into them now trying to properly run books 4 and 5 and integrate the characters correctly. Which has cause some overlap/slight rearranging of the book stuff to make it all flow.

Anyone else think what they are doing with the Hound makes far more sense than a head wound?

I think The cliffhanger should be

Spoiler:
no more mention of stannis then, during the main battle of the wall, nights watch about to lose, wave of knights etc wash over the enemy and break them, never getting a clear look at the banner, knight rides up to the gate and pops his visor up, its stannis and he gets the final line, about revenge/cleaning up the north/justice/what have you, something cool.

Much happier with Dany in these episodes than the inspid shadow she is the books.....

The show is certainly progressing in a much better way.

Hope they are not writing Bron out.

Yep. Biter's teeth are rank and with it being a medieval society I doubt Westeros has much in the way of dental care.

Bronn? Probably. He doesn't have much of a role in the story from here on, so its likely the rest of his material will be cut or take place off-screen, referred to in dialogue by other characters (Cersei, Kevan Lannister etc).

Spoiler:
IIRC, Bronn:
-inherits a castle from his wife's family after killing the sister
- mans it with his cutthroat, sellsword friends
-offends a Lord
-and kills him in a duel.

All of which takes place "off-page" so to speak (i.e. not seen directly in a POV chapter).

However a different angle gives a very different impression. Beats me why they didn't use this angle - Sansa looks much more uncomfortable here.

Baelish does seem a lot less creepy now in the show than the books. - Probably due to the changing characters ages. It's a bit more of a sense, I dunno, of 'dirty old man' than, as my friends are known to have called him from the books, paedo-Baelish.

My mates are not subtle in their nickname choices...

Brienne and Pod would have been helped by there actually having a signpost shown on their last scene. - I can't even remember what direction Brienne eventually decided to go. I seem to remember there's more scenes with Riverrun due at some point, isn't there?

He is much better than most characters that GRRM has come up with in the later book. Except maybe Lady Justus, and Manderly. But Griff is quite awesome of a character though. Interested in Lady stone heart.

The signpost wasn't necessary. Brienne had a dilemma. Does she trust Pod, and assume that the Stark girls are heading to the Vale to be reunited with their aunt Lysa at the Eyrie? Or should they continue heading north on the road and search for the girls in The North, taking refuge with the northern Houses still loyal to the Starks or with Jon Snow at the wall?
They chose the right hand fork in the road. The Vale is to the north east of the Riverlands, so thats where they're going. Brienne knew where the two roads lead.

I seem to remember there's more scenes with Riverrun due at some point, isn't there?

The Siege of Riverrun.

Spoiler:
A Feast for Crows
After the Red Wedding and the deaths of Robb and Catelyn, Brynden continues to hold Riverrun in Robb's name, even as other river lords surrender and bend the knee to the Iron Throne. Besieged by Lannister and Frey forces, he treats with Ser Ryman Frey but is unmoved by Ryman's empty daily threats to hang his nephew, Edmure Tully. Brynden refuses to give up Riverrun or Robb's widow, Queen Jeyne Westerling.

The Blackfish holds out for several months, until Ser Jaime Lannister comes to resolve matters. Brynden parleys with Jaime, but only as an excuse to hear Jaime's reasons for not returning Catelyn's daughters and to see Jaime's stump. Jaime tells Brynden that he will be allowed to take the black if he surrenders and mentions that Jon Snow is now Lord Commander of the Night's Watch; Brynden recalls Catelyn's distrust of Snow and assumes that the boy's new position was given to him by the Lannisters.

Before Edmure surrenders the castle to Jaime, Brynden escapes by swimming under the portcullis that had been slightly raised at the Water Gate. He presumably swims down the Red Fork and his current whereabouts are unknown.

I agree, hes a great character and actor and I'd hate to see him go, but he really doesn't have much more presence in the story. His future exploits are referred to in second hand accounts only - he doesn't directly encounter a POV character.

They may choose to show his exploits on screen, in which case it might make for good filler material, but it doesn't really help move the story forward and there will be a lot of other more important stuff competing for screen time. So unless they come up with original material, merge his role and actions with that of another character, or GRRM updates them on his future role in TWoW (i.e. tells them that he will still be important in the future and so they mustn't get rid of him just yet) then I think Bronn's exploits will take place off-screen.

Of course, if Jerome Flynn is cast for Season 5 that will be a good indication as to whether we'll see Bronn again.
