Do you have any newer preview pictures of the shieldmaidens?

I think this one is from June?

@Azazelx
Ah, haven't posted them here, sure, here are the last two we revealed!

As for the size of the weaponry on the images above (for which we were asked on the KS-1 comment section) please rest assured that we are not putting anything into production before approving the initial production/proof samples, but even more so judging by the 3-ups that we will be holding in our hands much prior to that stage.
Same goes for the heads and other stuff we have been asked by sci-fi players who messaged out of interest in this for conversion purposes.

Edit: In order to clarify that the bases will be SQUARE and not round (this is merely the screenshot from the program). Also, poses are in T-stance, thus these are *not* the final poses.

Those renders look pretty sweet. The sword looks a little extra-heroic, but I guess we'll see how it looks when she's posed. Who did the sculpting work?

@Mutter
Thank you! Hopefully our KS-1 experience will help this go much better :-)

@Azazelx
Errr.. I'm afraid I'll have to get back to you on this, we don't know if the sculptors have signed any discloser agreement or something like that, we have to ask first. What I can tell you is that they have till recently worked for what we call "the largest company worldwide". And no more needs be said... :-)

Ah, excellent. So they're former miniature sculptors for Apple (or ICBC) then?

They look promising indeed. Those weapons need to be a lot smaller, but you seem to be on top of things.

BTW, in the future it might be worth considering making a range of figures to fill out some gaps in the Mantic product line. Especially the Night stalker army, which don't have any official miniatures at all and have plenty of room to put your own twist on things.

While there are lots of different suitable models out there from various manufacturers that one can use for the Night stalkers; if you had a more comprehensive line of figures in a consistent art style I think you cold get a fair bit of sales as a one-stop shop for that army.

Very nice!

Will there be an option for round bases? Or, will the bases be separate, so we can use round if desired?

@Ian Sturrock
None of our models come with integrated bases, and none (most probably) ever will.
You can use whatever bases you feel like but the ones provided with each kit will all be square.

Hmm that's fine for me - although the images all show rounds bases?

The maidens look good, especially the top one with the one piece armor suit. Looking forward to that KS!

On the weapons, I would recommend moving the skull decoration onto the hilt instead of the blade, and getting rid of the double pronged spear head in favor of a single. Multiple prongs are good for catching fish, and not much else. Scaling the spear down so it is roughly her height would be good too, though I assume the weapons are scaled up at the moment, given that the hafts are about as big as her wrist

@Zywus
The advice (as all advice should be) is much appreciated.
Angelos didn't want to copy a much larger company's aesthetics from the very start, thus I quite doubt he'd care much about that. If an army of ours matches the purpose of another manufacturer then so be it, but Shieldwolf will mainly keep on pressing on the augmentation of its own range and game.

@Wehrkind
What you said about the spear was talked about here too, and it's very likely it's going to indeed change but not definite yet.
:-)

@RiTides
The last two teasers (one for each race) will be uploaded late tonight on our FB page for weekend purposes. By Monday we should be announcing the hour of launch, the project has already been approved by KickStarter so theoretically we are all set to go!
We were hoping by now that some more blogs/websites would have helped spread the news but not being a KS company probably punishes us :-(

@Mr. Morden
Indeed these are screenshots from the CAD program used to measure space around the model and allow it to rank up nicely. Models in all kits will be supplied with plastic square bases. As stated we are upping our plastic manufacturing more; we want to be able to deliver one day the best plastics worldwide, and while that's a bold claim to make at such an early stage (and which some people may mistakably consider arrogant), we do however invest & commit both in European manufacturing and personnel who all cost more than alternative roads.
Hopefully the results shall prove us right one day... :-)

I see.

Happy to hear that there's no integrated bases. I really dislike that archaic remnant. They are so hard to remove and unless you still use coins to base your models, they offer no benefit compared to a simple peg under one or both feet.

I should have looked at this sooner. I like the look you guys are going for on them. Warrior women are much more appealing to me than orcs, so I might back this one. Quick question though, will there be low end pledges that allow for just a handful of figures? Space and funds are limited, so I wouldn't be able to go in big, plus I prefer smaller scale skirmishes to mass battles, so being able to just get a few figures would be perfect.

@Barzam
5-6 pledge levels, we think the "sweet spot" is very friendly. We aim for more people pledging smaller amounts than our KS-1, we think it's going to work better that way. :-)
PS. That doesn't mean we will say "no" to larger pledges, lol!

One point of feedback from the first campaign, which I made a small pledge on - the free demon figure wasn't something that was useful to me, so I would've actually preferred that you guys keep the funds from that! So, it might make it easier to have a small pledge option if you don't include a freebie like that.

Also, I was surprised that everything came in retail packaging. Most Kickstarters I have backed (and it's... er... over 200 now ) have not delivered in retail packaging, and I think that's another area you could save in and thus make smaller pledges more viable.

Really looking forward to it!

@RiTides
The retail packaging ensures everything arrives safe and sound. Some boxes got really beat up and we mailed to a respectable number of countries, with distances varying from 100km (domestic)and as far as New Zealand. We had zero damages to the final product however and not a single complaint about their condition. The costs aren't so high really, it's mostly the labor hours put into it to ensure as much safety as humanly possible; labor hours and packaging costs which we think however pay back with the zero follow-ups we had to do. Maybe we're wrong, don't know I guess :-)
For the freebies you're absolutely right (one of our KS-1 errors), in KS-2 all freebies will be directly connected with the two factions now...

@Binabik15
Thank you! Here are a couple more teasers promised earlier today to help fix your mind in that then.

One for the Valley Orcs... (for which we have more than just artwork prepared, just can't reveal anything more atm)

and one for the Warmaidens...

Hope you like them.
Going to bed now, long nights await the team in the next days.

Have a great weekend!!!! :-D

I'm also looking for a modest pledge size. If there are a lot of incentives for slightly bigger pledges, do you want to split one?

Please don'e scale down the thickness of the weapon shafts. Anything thinner than about wrist thickness and they may look better when blown up on a screen, but are easy to break on the tabletop. For example, I think that the hafts on the mountain orc infantry are slightly too thin, and I have had two break on me (granted a three year old was involved, but something just a little thicker wouldn't have broken in my experience).

These are in HIPS, right? That should be able to be very thin and stand up to table top use, even by someone like me who drops things a lot. I have a bunch of Immortal Hoplites that have very thin spears, like nearly paper clip thin, and they have survived a long time.

Toddlers are akin to acts of God

Affirmative.

This could be a huge amazon pledge for me. I like the less cheese cake take on the Amazons a lot. Since you seem to bee one of the few comapnies that might listen to wish listing I will wish list

1. I would like less exposed mid riffs and more clothing and armour.
2. Failing that I would like optional armourpieces for arms, legs, midriffs, extra helmets and so on. Iwould like to be able to make heavily armoured warriors.
3. I would like more realistically scaled and designed weapons, less high fantasy swords for example.
4. I would like less "schampoo-model" hair and more warriorlike braids, short cuts and shawed sides.
5. I would in a forlorn hope get a few different body types, one petit, one muscular, one slim and so on. But I realise that is unlikely since it might cut down on compability between models int he kit. (No one ever seems to make different body types in plastic kits, probably to make them seem regimented and the mentioned compability - the only example I can think of is WGF:s survivors)

Will buy a few no matter how they end up looking!

Cheers!
