So, what exactly are you planning to do with those Khorne guys? Do you need that many Wrathmongers?

I have a couple of plans for the Wrathmongers.

First off- use them as exotic adversaries in Warhammer Quest.

Second- more/ better elite units than Bloodbound in Sigmar games, which we need to do again soon.

Third- conversion bits galore.

And I actually have more Nurgle elite infantry than I do Khorne, surprisingly.

Hurray for a 3 day weekend!

...although everyone ended up getting sick, and I missed out on Brookhurst's bring n' buy, and we ended up feeling blah and not going out last night since we both have to work on Valentine's... oh well.

I did manage to get my guardian squad all done!

Custodes with their sentinel blades...

And the other three members wielding guardian spears. Not sure who will get the Shield Captain cloak yet. Maybe one of the guys with the spear advancing. Also had a difficult time figuring out where to put their misercordia. Couldn't find reference to them in the instructions, so slapped them on around their waists and called it a day.

Still finishing building the jetbikes, and then I have about 3 more Custodes squads ready to paint. Hopefully even play with in the near future!

Speaking of playing, I've been diligently trying to finish my First Strike box for 40k. My son said he'd try, and it seems like a nice portable set to take and introduce others to (and familiarize myself with the rules while I'm at it).

Here's the Intercessors from the box. They're the easy to build guys. Painted the sergeant's face but it's hard to see. I'll try doing the decals after I've sprayed and sealed them.

The Reivers as well. Debating if I want to bother highlighting the black- ish under armor stuff. Feeling kind of lazy about it... plus I got started on the Plague Marines, and would like to see them finished by the weekend.

Got the Darkoath Queen all done too. I like her. May not be 'Eavy Metal quality, but I tried! She'll lead my hypothetical Slaves to Darkness army/ warband if we get around to playing Sigmar again.

As did I.

The Custodes look amazing to me. Is the Darkoath Queen's tongue sticking out? Looks like she's rocking out.

I really, really, REALLY like the Custodes.

The Terminators especially. They are really nice models, and I have always been a sucker for lots of ornamental armor.

So it should come as no surprise I'm enjoying Trajann Valoris and his shield captain buddy here.

Trajann has a ways to go but the captain next to him is waiting to get sealed. I should have Trajann done by the end of the weekend.

I'd like to get another Guardian squad but everyone and everywhere seems to be out! Doesn't help that they're the new hotness. I knew I should have bought more when I had the chance to get them cheap.

No time to paint due to report cards going home and me being expected to actually check my students' work. YUCK.

Smokey is done. Base is good enough. Need to find the I Love Poots bottom part to stick it on so it matches all the other monsters.

Beast of Nurgle finally based and finished. My son really likes it for some odd reason. I let him pick out the parts to build it with. Took me weeks to finally finish it.

A Bones Bear I'm not really happy with. I misread what Barzam wrote and used a beige instead of a tan. Need to figure out how to bring it back to brown bear status.

An assortment of drybrushed animals for a wolf pack to use in Paleo Diet. Ordered some torch arms from some Flagellants, hopefully they fit my Frostgrave barbarian bodies alright.

A few random Ten Thunders models from Malifaux. Need to figure out how to bring out the detail on the blue Yokai monkeys. Kung Fu monks are coming along nice enough.

The Yasunori who's been sitting in the way for months now is built and just needs to have the feathers touched up, as I did them pretty sloppy.

A random Celtos figure who I'd wanted to paint as Slaine, but then didn't, and a Skorne warlock I want to use for post apoc stuff. Need to do his armor....

Fyreslayers have been started for Shadespire...

Trajan Valoris and a dog that ended up looking more like a cow I'm afraid.

First Strike/ Easy Build Plague Marines are finished and I can officially play that little box now. Everything in it is done!

Now to get rolling on the handful of unfinished models I've left on the dining room table...

Love the yasunori, the dwarfs and the Custodes. Is the smoke knight also a custodian? Those yokai seem electric blue...are they supposed to be ethereal like ghosts?

Now that grades are done for the moment and there's a lull between big events at work, I had a few free moments.

Got Primus Jalaam from Hordes done.

Naturally most of the highlights and detailwork don't show up well, but nevertheless he's finished. He strikes me as a perfect post apocalyptic wanderer. He's going to be hanging out with a few Dark Age models that I someday hope to use in This is not a Test.

Shadespire Dwarfs are finished up now as well.

I did multiple washes over the skin, painted their eyes, highlighted all their weapons and loincloths... and you can't see any of it in the picture. Drat.

Started up some more Custodes models, and am debating which Shadespire team to tackle next- Orcs or Skellies. I'm leaning towards Orcs as there are less of them which means I should be able to finish them quicker...

Nevermind the axe, look at his hand! It's the size of his head!

There's definitely something about these figures. They have a funky charm. I picked up a few more random ones that I'll eventually paint. I started a few. Maybe I posted them?

I can't even remember!

Now I may have to look for more this weekend...

So I had this model from a failed/ struggling board game kickstarter called Demigods Evolution, and had no idea what to do with it.

So I turned it into a Custodes Shield Captain.

I mean, he's got two shields, so why not?

I've had him for a while, just couldn't decide what to do with him color- wise. The only painted samples were hardcore Awaken Realms display pieces, and there's no way I can compete with that.

Funny thing- it was Prodos of all people who helped save this game from absolute death. The company who is attempting to produce it was supposed to work with Titan Forge, that fell through, and Prodos actually stepped up and produced all the resin figures for the game company, and as far as I know are responsible for all the figures for the game so far.

He was supposed to be on a 40mm base, but his feet overhung it greatly. I can't stand that. He snuggly fits on a 50mm base though.

You ought to get a few more angles of him. It's a little hard to get a sense of what he looks like with his shield in the way.

Continuing with the Custodes theme, I actually got a few of the models I've had in front of me done.

Heresy- era Aquilon Terminators. These guys are pretty BIG. They're on 50mm bases for starters. This squad has the adrathic destructors rather than bolters. Bolters are boring. Worst case they can just be counts- as modern Terminators. I don't know if there's a big difference between 40k and 30k rules. I should hopefully have another squad with the firepikes coming in the somewhat near future. I may end up with more when I order Constantin Valdor too.

Their 40k counterparts. Armor got smaller and more compact, yet just as ornate as before. I really like the 40k Aquilons. I need more. I also need more Guardians but they're impossible to find these days.

My Contemptor and Galatus.

Close up of the Galatus. I wouldn't mind an Achillus but the thought of straightening that spear shaft and getting all the limbs lined up seriously turns me off from the model. I hate fitting 2 handed weapons together in resin. I'm not good at it. It was bad enough trying to get this guy's legs in a satisfactory position as neither one wanted to glue together at the same time, or line up with how I wanted him posed. He's done though!

Hopefully I'll have better luck with my Telemon...

Besides Custodes, I've been on a weird Chaplain kick.

Here's the current batch of Chaplains I'm working on. There's a few more that are either unbuilt, or waiting to be primed, or in pieces in the garage as well- these are just the ones that are upstairs.

The big guy is a Wargames Exclusive "primaris" Chaplain, and the squat dude on the right is from Hitech Miniatures. They're got a newer one I like, just haven't gotten around to acquiring him yet. I also completely busted his Iron Halo. Whoops.

The ever- elusive "Skullz" chaplain. I know Barzam hates him, I love this figure. It's the fourth one I've owned, but the first one I've painted. Those ridiculous eBay prices have helped further build my collection after all!

That's a lot of Custodians. Thankfully you'll never be able to field all of them. It must suck being in that Contemptor and having to hang out with his blinged out bros in Galatus and Telemon Dreads. He's got nothing to really denote him as a Custodes. I wonder if the other Custodes make fun of him for it?

Taking a break from Custodes for the moment, and working on... Space Marines?

Yeah. Space Marines. Quite a switch for me, I know.

Despite not really caring for Marines, I've always liked the (overpriced) character models. I've been acquiring quite a few online when I find them for a reasonable price. I've had the guys from Calth since the box set came out, built them, and promptly forgot about them. Time to get to work then!

Here's the Terminator captain. I think he's a captain. He's a character model at least. I need to do a bit more work, but he's getting there. I did a terrible highlighting job. In my defense I don't usually highlight. I think it's Cataphracti armor? Gotta slap some Ultramarine logos on there too.

...and the Chaplain dude from the same set. He's shown up in the background in a few pictures, but he wasn't really done. He's coming along nicely.

Plus a random Terminator Captain I came across on the cheap. Need to do the base and scribble on all his parchments.

More chaplains gearing up to be finished soon!

I kind of feel like you might get better results with some sort of quickshade, as it provides gradients and shadows that you normally don't push. It's really good for GW's Grimdark(tm) stuff.

It's odd- both Calth guys got plenty of shading. Didn't really show up much in the photos.

Work continues on my chaplain kill team.

First up is the Wargames Exclusive/ Grimskull Primaris- sized "Imperial Confessor."

He's still very much a work in progress. Still working on a lot of his scrolls, straps, seals, and the cherub that's supposed to be flying above him.

With a Blood Angels Chaplain I'm trying to get finished up. Need to finish up his shoulder pads and jump pack. I did most of the highlighting in silver, and in person it looks decent. Whiel they look the same size, keep in mind the Blood Angel guy is actually leaping off a rock.

A Deathwatch Watch Master I found cheap that I've been working. That Imperial Confessor was still hanging around and you can see there's definitely a difference in size. That Watch Master is supposed to be a regular sized marine too!

Still have a few more chaplains waiting to get finished up. After that it's Necrons and then back to Malifaux...possibly with a stop in Kingdom Death land as I attempt to finally build all the armor kits I've acquired. And I've acquired a lot...

Jeez... I haven't posted much in a while.

I've been working my way through the Forgebane box. In fact, I just finished building the last of the Skitarii this morning.

While I was finishing building and prepping all the GW Necrons, I got busy dealing with my Grimskull/ Wargames Exclusive backlog of their cybernetic empire, or whatever they call their Necron proxies.

Most of them make good Necron Lords or Overlords, but could probably stand in as Lychguard as well. She's one of my favorites.

Dual scythe madame.

A straight up Necron "Lady" with resurrection orb. Her limbs are really thin and it's probably inevitable that the arms or cape fall off in the very near future.

A floating Orikan or Cryptek proxy. Probably Orikan since she's got no legs.

My Dr. Doom inspired Necron Lord.

The new Cryptek model from Forgebane.

Most of the unit of Gauss equipped Immortals.

As well as most of my Deathmarks.

All that's left for the Necrons are the Wraiths, who are based and base coated, but I just started working on a Primaris Apothecary, so that may get done first....

I've been trying to clear out a few unfinished figures from my table.

He's not much to look at, and the lighting doesn't help, but my Deathwatch Watch Captain is done. Now to get some Deathwatch for him to hang out with...

Yet another chaplain, and one that has way too similar color palette compared with the Deathwatch guy above, is Ulrik the Slayer. I'm a sucker for GW character models, especially when I can get them relatively cheap. Both models came from an eBay seller that had misspelled both their names, much to my gain.

Valka the Curseborn, one of the Trollblood Northkin subfaction guys from Hordes. I like the model, but he sat in front of me for months now unfinished. Glad he's done. Got to finish his base but that won't be long.

Some Malifaux Lotus Eaters. They're done... basically. I should probably tattoo them up. They're really plain looking as it is. You can't even really see the shading I did.

Some Tau dudes I had sitting around. Are they pathfinders? Fire warriors? Breachers? I'm not sure. I do know it's a legit Sept though. I have a Commander battlesuit that's getting done in similar colors. Hope to have that done eventually as well.

A Primaris Chaplain getting started. I used Barzam's idea of a super light grey rather than attempting to mess with a straight white for a base coat.

And just to irritate Barzam and continue our arms race, my Custodes are starting to expand their garage. And Lego collection I guess?

Stupidly I lost the lights that go at the top of the Land Raider's tracks, so I improvised with filling the gaps with the smoke dispensers. It works... sorta?

The solid gold train continues to chug along....

My Wardens unit of Custodes are all set to get finished. The light washed out most of the details, but I'd hit them with a Reikland wash and used a bit of bronze and different golds to highlight all their bling.

Ixion Hale and Constantin Valdor for my overcompensated HQ choices. I broke Hale's axe and haven't been able to put it back together correctly yet (there's a little point on the top of it that keeps snapping off). Valdor I didn't bother cutting off yet as his casting gates make a nice and easy handle to hold him while I'm painting.

I've got Valdor's assortment of bases and extra flashiness in the beginning stages of painting as well.

More gold, but this time it's for fantasy! My Shadespire team of the Farstriders. They're about 95% done. A few more details need to be dealt with. Hopefully they can see some play time this weekend.

Random vampires. Left one needs his face lightened up DRASTICALLY. He's from MOMA miniatures in spain, while the other is a resin vampire lord from Shadows of Brimstone.
