The Lion, Kahn, and the obvious Russ are all classic Monster Slayer personae, so would make a good foil to the Daemon Primarchs.
But personally, I see Vulcan coming back before anyone else.

Do we have any sense of the release schedule at the moment? It seems like Blood Bowl will be released earlier than previously thought, leaving room in November for some more 40k?
I'm positively salivating at the thought of a Magus 40k release, particularly after the last Ahriman novel! Surely after such a video release GW wont leave us hanging months.

That would either require ruining the fluff about him only returning when the Salamanders have found all of his relics by having him appear before they achieve that, or ruin it but suddenly rushing them to finding the last 3 (or however many there are left) in the space of a few months/years.

The current fluff is laying good groundwork for Lion and Russ both coming back. Them teaming up to take on their former brother?

I could well be wrong with this, but I don't think that artwork is from the Fenris book. Rather it's from the following "Black Crusade" book.

It's also worth noting that any further Primarchs will be a way off. Expect the "2" within the next year, but the others aren't coming any time soon.

When was he banished? Maybe they will say it was 1000 years in the warp but only a few years (or centuries depending when he was banished) in real time. So for him it was a 1000 years of what ever he was in and he had a 1000 years of planning for vengeance/revenge but for us it was a few years/centuries when he was banished.
If I remember correctly, Angron was banished in the First War for Armageddon, which took place 500 years before the Second War for Armageddon, which took place 50 years before the Third War for Armageddon, which is taking place in the present (as it were).
So Angron should have a good 450 years left in his banishment.
Of course, maybe Ghazkull Thraka is secretly being guided by Angron, and his whole obsession with Armageddon is linked to creating enough bloodshed that the Daemon Primarch can break his banishment.

I'm fairly sure the Armageddon sourcebook has the banishment lasting for 100 years (and a day for good measure) so Angron is good to go without retcons unless the 1000 years is from somewhere earlier than third edition.

Well, that would be a huge thing for the Imperium. It might be interesting if the High Lords objected to his rule and most of the SM chapters joined them, meaning that The Lion would have to go rogue with those who choose to join his legion. Perfect excuse for SM vs SM battles!

So park me in the "hugely excited" camp. It feels enormously as though a slight neglect of a minor chaos faction (my chosen chaos faction, to be fair) is coming in for a nicely lavish update. And not only are we heading for a new dedicated set of plastic marines, inclusion in a new box set in 30k form, new Greater Daemon, etc, but we get the primarch, too, in his awesome, gribbly mutated glory. Thousand Sons become their own faction and return in the fluff to really mess stuff up.
Wonderful! I can't understand where any of the negativity can possibly come from...

I play orks and im still waiting for clan rules (or a decent codex) and a new ork warbuggy model. That negative enough. =p
The Magnus model is sweet, i can see a lot of conversion potential into awesome Lords of Change.

RE: Dorn, per the novel Space Marine by Ian Watson his skeleton is mounted in the Fist's fortress monastery and chapter masters inscribe their names on his bones when they take office.
So if he's alive he must be really pissed.
Also worth noting Sad Panda said there'd be a primarch on Team Empire, not necessarily a loyalist primarch. maybe one of the Chaos Primarchs sees the light, or maybe they just want to twart Magnus' plans.

MajorTom11 wrote:Frankly, to the fluff argument, I always found it personally ridiculous that 5 chaos primarchs and 4-5 loyalist primarchs were all just sitting on their duffs for 10k years. Esp the chaos ones, all of whom apparantly more or put a 'do not disturb' sign on their bedroom door and stayed put. If you ask me it's about damn time they made an impact on the story again. Change is scary, I get it, but sometimes it is awesome. I for one would rather roll the dice on something cool than be stuck in the status quo for the rest of time.
In Epic the Daemon Primarchs showed up all the time to leave suitably major battles. The most famous was Angron on Armaggedon.
This can be handwaved as saying they're so powerful they can only manifest amidst millions of worshipers in the fires of battle.

Let's be fair here, people denying that Magnus is a step towards the End Times probably didn't pay much attention to the WHFB End Times. Because the similarities and parallels are shocking.
It all starts with army books (codexes) adding new bits of fluff to their settings that could be game changing for that faction. Khaines Gate for the Dark Eldar, Tyranid invasion of Baal, Cegorarch's final play, the Golden Throne being beyond repair and failing (Admech codex).
Then Campaign books that gradually move along the story line, better setting up a world-ending scenario. Sigmar's Blood = Curse of the Wulfen.
And the similarities between Nagash and Magnus have no need to be explained. And Nagash's return was the first obvious leap towards the end times.
It's a nice model, I'd like to face it for the joy of trying to kill a Daemon Primarch, but the implications behind the model are giving me terrible flashbacks.

Yep. It's BS to claim daemon primarches haven't done anything. Magnus has been out and active besides the Fenris thing thousands of years ago...
Whether that level of character really should be in field on 40k scale battle is another thing but you hardly need to change fluff to have 40k model and rules for them to begin with. They were already out there doing stuff unless GW decides to retcon that.

As I remember it, they said 40k would also get it´s End Times/AOSification but it wouldn´t be as massive as it was for fantasy.
