Except that would put FW out of 8th edition for years which would cost them more money than they would gain.

I don't see how it is better buisness wise to change the core rules during an editon

I mean it would be far less work to write a 12 page 7th edi quick rule sheet with everything needed and put them into the red books or sell it on it's own than re-write everything to match the 8th edi.
and from what we know about the rules yet, a lot of stuff won't work any more in 8th

most people I know playing HH is because of better rules and balance than 40k.
they will stay with 7th edi HH and if the new books will not match, they just won't buy them (and the will never buy their exisiting books again just because FW changed the rules to match 8th)

Glad they are switching, the new rules are so much better just from what has been released already. And potential for some salt covered bargains on eBay will be the icing

Splitting customers isn't good. They are going to lose sales. It's hard to market old dead game system when there's new ones. Sure you would have the few who would prefer to stay in 7th. What about those who want to switch to 8th? Completely new players? Especially those who are playing 8th? Especially when you then have to convince them to buy 7th ed rulebook(12" won't cover that...) AND red books which costs lot more likely than getting to 8th will be(possibly free...)

Miniature sales don't really thrive with existing customers but by new customers.

In what way is what has been shown better for HH than what we all ready have?

The whole attraction of HH was so that the grown ups could have a version of 40k with more depth and complexity than the standard 40k allowed.

For example the fully functioning morale and pinning mechanics that we're never actually used in 40k.

The Legion rules that provided a level of fluff and crunch missing from 40k for years, as it stands for example all existing Night Lords rules would change to -1 to Bravery, Emperors Children's mechanic no longer even exists and it looks no better for the rest.

If that's not the case then FW are going to have to waste huge amounts of time salvaging a workable game from the AoS foundations of 8th and rewriting nearly 7years worth of rules rather than progressing further which is terrible considering there glacial pace.

Ultimately if the rules end up as dumbed down as 8th looks to be I don't see the point in not just playing HH2.0 in 40k and paying the cheaper GW prices. But more likely I will move on to look for another more satisfying game to play as will my current club who play HH.

Except your not splitting the player base any more than it all ready is, a lot of 30k players would not touch 40k with a 10ft pole and dumbing it down even further is unlikely to change that. In fact by keeping HH on 7th you potentially retain more players as it gives an alternative to either AoS or AoS in space.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

'allowing adults to play' and 'dumbing down' are two more reasons to change the rulesets.

The snobbery and elitism that seems to exist in HH will get a well needed boot up the backside. And those that want to carry on can continue with 7th and a community ruleset. Everyone is happy

Judging from your posts you unlikely to be happy unless someone is unhappy, plus it's not snobbery or elitism someone's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder, rules to complicated or FW to exspensive?

The HH events at WHW show a older player base compared to AoS/40k so a simple statement of facts.

They've at least got partial rules in one of the books (Book VI, I think. Will need to check!)

But for me, provided FW put out the new unit rules etc for free as they did with Monstrous Arcanum stuff (eventually), I've not got a great sense of loss for Books I-VII. Still got their background in them, and still got me 40k rules.

You are assuming that 30k is just "another codex book" for 40k
but most people see 30k as a game on its own that is completely separated from 40k.

there is no unified playerbase of 30k&40k and changing HH to 8th will split up the customers and therefore they will lose sales

What about those who want to switch to 8th?

those that want to play 40k 8th will play 40k 8th anyway and don't care about HH because those are already 2 different games

Especially when you then have to convince them to buy 7th ed rulebook(12" won't cover that...)

the 7th edi rules needed to play fit on 8 pages if written without fluff texts, side notes and pictures
that is also the reason why the 7th is such a mess, because you need 300 pages to cover 8 pages of rules

AND red books which costs lot more likely than getting to 8th will be(possibly free...)

you need the red books anyway

Completely new players? Especially those who are playing 8th?

you think new players will play HH because of 8th edi rules and not because of the flair/setting?

with the same reason why you say HH need to switch to 8th, Shadow War: Armageddon would need to switch to 8th edi basic rules instead of the current 2nd edi rules

You can already see people hoping for 30k turn into 8th ed rule. Just read the forum...Read this very thread! And without 8th ed rules for HH armies it's kinda hard to play 8th ed with your sons of horus etc.

you need the red books anyway

Not neccessarily if FW goes GW style and has books just for campaign/fluff.

you think new players will play HH because of 8th edi rules and not because of the flair/setting?

It's lot easier to convince people to play supplement of rules they know than go for dead ruleset.

Anyway moot point to arque as FW obviously has decided it makes more money by switching to 8th ed than if not.

Ah yes, the "Don't care. Got mine!" attitude. Wonderful.

I don't play Scars, BAs or DAs. I've got my 30K rules (World Eaters & Custodes). Still annoys me that the line is incomplete and, seemingly, will never be complete, leaving 30K players (which has taken on a life of its own, more than I ever thought it would) in lurch with an incomplete game.

Is it going to remain incomplete though?

New Edition brings new rules from FW - as I mentioned, hopefully in the form of free updates. Not as if there's all that many things needing them, and certainly nothing particularly unusual.

And there's nothing to suggest we won't be getting 7th Ed rules in the next book as well, other than supposition. I don't consider it outside of FW's ability to offer both.

Oh., and exceptional editing there to remove my point that the currently missing legions do have at least some rules in Book VI (might be Book V. Will need to check)

I'm a White Scars player, and I hope that they change the Heresy to 8e. I play more 40k than I do 30k, and trying to remember two sets of rules for the exact same set of models is already annoying, let alone if one is actually a radical divergence from the other.

Furthermore, Horus Heresy is basically just a subset of the Warhammer 40,000 game. It surely gets a lot of player movement from 40k to 30k, and that movement is not going to be helped by a separate ruleset. I believe that Forgeworld will keep their game close to 40k in order to ensure that new players can justify moving into 30k.

I also suspect that we'll see some of the restrictions on Forgeworld tanks quietly go away, in line with the new fluff which implies time-distortions; it cannot help sales for people to have to jump through hoops to use things like Sicarian Venators with their 40k armies.

Oh didn't expect it to be difficult. Just made me chuckle Actually I expect it to be dead easy much like in those tv visas where if you get to answer by calling and get it correctly it's always dead easy trivial question(albeit there reason is to get lots to call to the expensive phone number where questions are no doubt lot more difficult)

Wonder what question it would be. Something super simple so name of primarch that started heresy named after him?-)

I emailed about the lack of an upgrade kit for the Sekhmet Terminators, as well as the character model that originally appeared as the squad leader.

Forgeworld wrote:
Many thanks for the email, our studio have no plans to release the Thousand Sons Sehkmet Terminator Cabal as an upgrade kit in the foreseeable future.

This was a decision made based on the designers preference of terminator armour for the unit, As the Tartaros and Cataphactii patterns of armour are so different from each other we could not create a kit that would suit both types without having two separate kits.

Our studio decided to release the product as a full kit for the ease of having all of the components to hand to make up a full squad through a single purchase.
We cannot assume a customer already owns or had set out to purposefully purchase a set of cataphractii terminator armour to upgrade into Sehkmet Terminators.

As for the Sehkment character, i am afraid we have no confirmed release date as yet.

I hope this helps answer your question

Thanks again

They're not half masks, per se. The face plates of the helms are painted white, and then the right (left, from the viewer's perspective) eye is covered over by a sort of armor applique which represents a scar, referencing Magnus' lost eye.

I'll probably make the "scar" applique smaller/thinner, and definitely won't be painting the face plates such a stark white.

Yeah, and rules-wise Magnus would probably have broken Russ' back.

7 S: D hits in a 36" bubble is enough to end Russ, everything he stands for, everything he's loved, and probably his planet too.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."
