Redemptor and Repulsor both seem like bad Storm Ravens. In a tournament setting, why take those over a storm raven?

EDIT: the Repulsor at least can transport Primaris ... but why transport when you can just spend 1CP and Deep Strike your hellblasters?

In a truly reformed GW they'd fix the Raven not break the new releases. We'll see.

storm raven may have gotten a points adjustment

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

What were any point adjustments you immediately noticed?

Those are really the only two questions I want answered. Otherwise there were enough leaks that I can wait for the codex itself.

Stormhawk seems to have gone up in power levels though points who knows. Surprised that intercessors (the jump marine primaris guys) actually went up in power levels given how universally condemned for being over costed they are. Well see when the actual points come out.

In a positive helblaster squads look flexible and cheaper which is great.

Bottom left, the Squad Numbering goes up to 20.

Also, for those that are wondering about Chapter Masters. There's a strategem for 2 command points at the beginning of the game which turns a captain into a chapter master with the upgraded aura. You can't have more then 1 chapter master for the same chapter.

Thought you were talking model count for non-Primaris squads, not 20 squads per company.

Carry on, nothing to see here

So I don't see anything about intercessor squads. Can someone refer me to what page their entries are discussed? I've heard they have other options - like autobolt rifles and stalkers bolt rifles?

the Mothership...

From Matt's blog (https://ttgamingdiary.wordpress.com/2017/07/21/review-codex-space-marines-datacards/)

The pic says they're plasma incinerators and I'm guessing they're the heavy variant. The difference at first glance that I can see is the little super soaker underbarrel reservoir near the tip and the feed to the backpack. I wonder what the assault version will change. Obviously the difference is likely due to the pic above being from the multipart poseable kit.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
It also appears (to follow up on Matt's answer) that normal marine sergeants get a special equipment list (no idea what is on it) where as (at least for the hellblaster sergeant) he gets only a plasma pistol option (also pictured above).

Well, the Inceptors went up, because they factored in the plasma stuff.

Don't expect this Codex to adjust points or power levels based on feedback since the release.

It's not unlikely that when GW send the print files to their printing partners in China to produce the Codex and put it on the ship, Obama was still president.

These things aren't made in a week.

On one of the pics on Matt's blog (linked in my previous post), there is a pic of Intercessors on the top row. The text says they get them though I don't believe we've seen the rules yet. Judging from the differences seen in the hellblasters, we'll likely get a swap to both if they follow the pattern (an "assault" variant, a "rapid fire" one, and a "heavy" one).

Ah, yes, the Intercessors, I kinda brushed over them before.

The Sergeant can get a Power Sword, one model in every five an Auxiliary Grenade Launcher (pump a grenade out to 30"). The big upgrade is that anyone can take an Auto Bolt Rifle (shorter range but Assault 2) or a Stalker Bolt Rifle (36" range, Heavy 1, but AP-2).

The latter might give scouts a run for their money, but they all seem reasonable enough.

Bummed at the lack of traditional special weapon options on them. Was wanting to give mine flamers.

Yeah they didn't need special weapon options - it would nullify the value of the Tacticals.

I'm just glad the sergeant can take some items, just for the sake of character.

Any word on whether Intercessors have increased in value?

Sure they do, I welcome our replacement overlords. Normal marines would be stupid to not undergo the process to make themselves better. eventually and inevitably normal marines wont exist, which is backed by the statements made by the designers of the new dreads 'marines will only enter the new dreads from now on, because they are better and always want the best'.
It is just easing people into the inevitable. They just blew it on the kits by not giving them breastplates with alternative chest emblems.

Working on it

Is anyone able to enhance those pictures? I tried zooming in and rescaling and what not but I still can't read any of it.

Has FW said they will do chapter tactics for the Badab chapters?

<Dynasty> ~10500pts
War Coven of the Coruscating Gaze ~3000pts
Thrice-Damned Plague Corps ~3250pts
Admech (TBN) ~3500pts +30k Bots and Ulator

You betcha they will - and they will be better than the space marine codex.

If you remove the ?w=... at the end of the filenames the pics are less shrinked. Not sure if my tablet has a better zoom software-wise but I can read most of the text. The pics seem to be presented this way because of the article and for copy-right reasons. Which is fine to me, Matt would probably not have uploaded them if they brought him trouble from GW.

I disagree. Since that is old IP I don't think they will write new rules. My guess is that they will say:

Raptors -- Use Ravenguard tactics/strategems, but only Raptors characters
Minotaurs -- Use black templar tactics/strategems, but only minotaurs characters

etc.

Seems to run contrary to the very reason Forge World writes rules.

You know, there's going to come a time when Venerable Redemptor brother Carsius is given orders to advance into a barricaded section of hive city to root out the enemies of the Imperium, and he's going to have to be like "I... I can't. I'm two stories tall, I don't fit in an alleyway..." That's when lil' Tim the Black Reach dreadnought is going to stomp in, theme music playing, and be like "Oh, it's all fun and games until being thirty feet high is too much? Step aside, and let a mere twelve footer handle this..."

Writing 8-16 chapters worth of Relics, Warlord traits, Strategems, and Chapter tactics, and then testing them is big red book levels of work. Maybe they release a grand Codex Space Marines: Forgeworld Edition sometime next year. But before then, I think they will just say: "Use the plastic book's parent chapter rules, here are the parent linkages".

EDIT: why would they not charge money for so much work? We are paying 50$ for the development costs of the rules in the new Space Marine book.

Given that the current rifles rapid fire at 15" with a -1, I think I'd rather have them than the autos. That said, if the unit is moving around a lot I could see some value.

The Lieutenant's Master Crafted Auto Bolt Rifle is D2. I expect the regular version is still D1.
