Yeah, I'm on the side thinking this is not too bad.

There's about 3 Kill team starters worth of new models, with cards and everything. The terrain is limited, but I'm hoping thats a legitimate board that comes with it.

$100 after discounts is certainly doable.

You’ve got a 25% (give or take) source for GW?

Can you share?

Only buy things when there are 15% off coupons from eBay!

The most common way right now is during those eBay flash sales which are typically 15% off. Add that to the already discounted price from the seller (15% is typical) and you’re at ~27% off

Yeah, if you wait for the eBay coupon it'll be around 35% off total

Yeah, I know about that, but it is about 28% that way, not 35%.

I'm also not that patient at times, so I was hoping for a more regular way to get that ~25%!

Are there going to be rules for generic rogue trader kill teams in the box, or is it just going to be the starstriders?

When I looked at Kill team and the lists in the book, I wondered why would I ever take a meltagun? Such overkill. Then GW released the info on the big beasties from the Gellerpox.....ahhhh, gotcha.

Not overkill, multi-damage weapon ensure the target more likely go out of action, not lingering on the field for several turns.

I'm a big fan of Kill Team but I have no idea why I would ever want to buy this Rogue Trader box. Can somebody explain who the target audience is? Is there some sort of weird nostalgia or retro vibe I'm not feeling or what's the catch?

Not judging anyone for being excited about this stuff but I just don't get it.

I am excited for the box and I hate nostalgia, so I don't know what to tell you. I am excited for sweet new sculpts, particularly Nurgle, for plastic room furniture, for imperial humans who aren't soldiers (I wish we got an Astropath and Navigator too).

I presume it'd be people who are "big fan[s] of Kill Team".

It's two new Killzones, new tactics cards and whatnot, and two new factions to play right out the gate.

Uh, I have it, but I don't know what you mean. Is there a particular part you'd like me to count?

The GW website lists the contents as "- 3 sets of Death World Forest scenery – 6 Eldritch Ruins, 9 sets of Barbed Venomgorse, 6 Shardwrack Spines and 6 pieces of Grapple Weed in total." which seems a lot if a set of "barbed venomgorse" is one tree and a grapple weed is a three-headed plant.

Dude, it is a ROGUE TRADER!

Presumably there is an audience for Rogue Traders and Inquisition, even if GW didn't seem to think so for two decades.

There's also this Blanchian aspect to these (that I personally don't think meshes well with GW's CAD design, but whatever).

And it's a new faction for people younger than me, so there's that.

And if you aren't sick of Nurgle yet, there the other side to the box as well.

Also, Kill Team in cramped confines has cropped up before as something people like (I had fun with such style games myself in the past), which the new kill zone might offer.

It's hardly like there's only niche appeal.

The lack of a navigator among the RT's retinue is a very weird omission. You can theoretically repair a crashed spaceship, but without a navigator you're not going anywhere ever.

Perhaps the navigator didn’t survive the geller breach? For Daemons an navigator’d (along with any other psykers like astropaths) be one of the most tastiest snacks on board.

Also, we don’t know yet which crewmen all of the gellerpox infected used to be - perhaps he’s among them. Older navigators are basically mutants anyway.

IIRC, at least one of the brutes used to be a cook, others were part of the engine deck crews.

It's possible to make short jumps through the Warp without a Navigator - presumably they just hope to make it to a more cosmopolitan system from wherever they're stranded and make contact with Imperial authorities there.

No interest in KT - but looking at the models, deck plan and scenery - plus 40k rules.

There will be plenty of people interested I think for the above.

People seem really down on the Nurgle half. Maybe I can find the minis for 35€ or so then, that'd be AWESOME.

I am getting the full box plus a second set of Nurgle for 35€ from a friend's box. I love 'em.

I'm personally excited about the new campaign. They haven't said anything about it yet, other than it is new, but I assume it will be a narrative campaign featuring the two new factions.

My wife is pretty nonplussed about Kill Team. Since she doesn't do any of the modelling or painting, and doesn't know anything about the 40k universe, to her, that's not a battle between the Death Guard and the Tyranids. It's the green ones going against the Zerg guys. A narrative campaign with a single group of characters would go a long way.

Really like the RT side. Would’ve rather had a new Xenos faction as the antagonists as it seems the perfect vehicle to test the water. Just a bit nurgle’d (or nurgle lite’d) out at the moment. (A slaneeshi influenced band would’ve been preferable...)

Price point seems pretty decent though.

I've always maintained that all the GW vs Mantic vs Warlord vs whomever nonsense is nonsense, as we often see pictures of all the old GW crew hanging out and playing games at the Perry's house or something.
So, as a nice reminder, here's Andy Chambers to appear in White Dwarf playing a game with Jervis Johnson.

Andy Chambers:
O.O Plans are afoot to play a battle report against Jervis Johnson for White Dwarf next Wednesday. We're playing the new Kill Team game which Jervis designed and I've never played before, what do you think my chances are like?

Spoiler:
Tl: dr Imperium not doomed after all, the Gellarpox is just the existing engineers going warp mad and sabotaging the generator, as has happened sometimes in 40K for decades.

Cozy cockpit of an Archer ARC-5S

Every Imperial starship is protected by a Geller field – a form of aetheric shielding which protects vessels travelling through the warp from that realm’s manifold predators. The Geller field is not inviolable, however, and even the smallest malfunction can have drastic consequences…

A new plague is rising in the galaxy – one that infects the Geller field generator itself. Capable of afflicting man and machine alike, the Gellerpox first causes strange dreams among the crew that operate these invaluable machines, subtly manipulating them to remove wards of protection and deliberately sabotage their work.

Once the infection reaches its peak, man and machine are fused in horrific union, transforming the lower decks of starships into heaving, bio-organic hellscapes from which hordes of mutants spill forth. As the Great Rift yawns across the galaxy, Gellerpox cults are springing up across the galaxy – including in the engine room of Elucia Vhane’s own vessel.

I'm more excited about the Nurgle stuff than the Trader, but I'm a sucker for multi limbed monstrosities.

If people are dumping Nurgle KTs cheap, I may get an extra set just to muck about with converting some and keeping a stock set.

Plus I could always use all the vermin and maggots for a regular Nurgle army.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!
