It shouldn't be a limited release and they appear to have printed up enough copies to last them a while, as the pre-orders are still up and available.

It doesn't talk about Rogue Trader under the Rogue Trader logo with 1987 on it?

Where it says "This is where it all began – Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader."

Or "Rogue Trader saw the founding of the 41st Millennium as we know it today."

Or "Appropriately, it was in Rogue Trader that the Rogue Traders themselves were first described."

My mistake I guess.

Not limited.

Might not relate directly to your situation, but the French version of KT (the core box) is completely sold out at the moment, and has been for some time now. They should print out more eventually, but there's no date at the moment.

I’m having flashbacks of 20+ years ago when GW used to foreshadow expansions that never showed up!

Hi folks

Does anyone know the base size for the Rogue Trader half of this box set? I can't quite tell from the pictures.

I suppose I'm surprised that with the other Kill Team releases they just did they didn't go for 3D walls. Spaceship corridor walls at that. It would have been a nice retro touch if they had done (plasti)card walls, in the same sort of line as old Necromunda.

It never ends well

Yes, your mistake; if you'd bothered to follow H.B.M.C.'s link you'd know that he is talking about the omission of the Rogue Trader RPG published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2009, not the Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader rulebook published by Games Workshop in 1987.

Its hardly a surprise they hardly mention a non GW book from a now dead licence.

The article does mention that a number of licenced Rogue Trader products were made, they just don’t go into detail.

Maybe try Wikipedia, then:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_Trader_(role-playing_game)

It bears mentioning that it was part of a huge multipart 40k RPG ecosystem, with as many as 5 simultaneous lines and dozens of released supplements.

It's like talking about 40k media and not talking about Dawn of War, I think.

The first installment of that RPG was a GW product that they
A, released early
B, sold out of
C, canceled
All before it's official release date because GW felt they could not afford to take people's money.

Yup. The fact FFG and their contributors managed to take it and make such a success of it probably smarts a little, but you'd hope they wouldn't be so petty as to avoid mentioning it, like Albertorius said it's the non-videogame equivalent of Dawn of War and frankly it was a better representation of the idea of the typical Rogue Trader's life and deeds than anything GW have managed.

I wonder if a potential Inquisitor expansion will insert some of the missing factions? Deamons? Maybe we might have either Khorne or Slaanesh models by then for their respective faction? Presumably it would allow Inquisitorial bands. "Preview" Sisters rules?

Earth 616

Depends on how that do it.

A new box set a la Rogue Trader? I would see an Inquisitor warband and some new daemons.

A book? I could see Inquisitors, Sisters of Silence, Daemons, maybe SoB, Custodians might be a stretch (can you imagine a 3 person team?), Kroot?

I would expect an expanded psycher presence for multiple teams. Space marine and chaos chapters would be nice to see too.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

If they do Custodians, I'll be disappointed if it's more than a 1 person team.

Yeah, Custodes really shouldnt be in the game at all; if they are it should be just one uber model.

As much I want the Rogue Trader stuff, I think I wait till it is clear where this is going. Ultimately I want a full customisable faction and not just bunch of static special characters.

Am I the only one who wants the set for the named characters? I usually do my own characters and stuff but something about these guys seem quite compelling to keep them as they are and check out their fluff. Sort of feels like getting a box set of all the BAngel special characters.

Totally get why people want to do their own though, I usually do. Just seem drawn to these bros for some reason.

I see them as great conversion fodder, as there is at leastnone thing I would tweak on all of them

I want the models, just to have more Blanchesque weirdos. I wasn;t really bothered by his art when I got into 40k at 11, but the style and atmosphere has grown on me.

I would also like to know.

I've been thinking that if I buy the Rogue Trader boxed game, I would like to replace the bases with Necromunda bases, because they are a better fit with the starship aesthetics. I need to know if the largest RT bases are 32mm or not, although I suspect they're 40mm.

28mm for the Rogue Trader part from the look of things.

The larger monsters are on 40mm bases.

So the commander expansion is coming soon?? So like Spring 2019??

What are the rules in Rogue Trader? Just basic rules just enough to play the two "commanders" in the box set..

Starting to feel micro transaction a little if this keeps going...

Serious question:
Would you rather the Commanders rules be only in the Rogue Trader set?

Quite likely it's just going to be a small book or something of that nature.
