Thanks Camkierhi, your comment means a lot coming from someone which such a well established and packed blog. I'm only about a 3rd through the stuff I've done so far, so a far bit more to go.

Right now the holidays and my Christmas entries are out the way I'll carry on with the other entries.

Ork Indiana Jones - The Temple of Doom Bridge

The next entry was an Ork version of Indiana Jones for a competition topic of " The Relic"

I was aiming to make something similar to the scene below, the rope bridge over the river in the Temple of doom film, I remember the bridge took me about a week to make when I was away with work in a hotel, there was a lot of effort cutting all the wooden slats and wiring them together. then creating the rope handrail.

Love the start of the latest pastiche. I started at the bottom and scrolled up - when I saw that first pic I thought "Its Cr-ork-odile Dundee!"

The bridge looks fantastic already - and you're right, you did a great job on the hat. How did you find cutting down the paddlepop sticks? I had to trim about 200 of them to make some roofs for an old D&D project, and I was about ready to throw them all in the bin by the end of it - they don't make it easy for you.

That Indiana Jones Ork was one of your best konvershuns, I think. You always did have a very creative mind when it came to those challenges.

Lol, I'll add him to the list of possible ideas

It wasn't to bad cutting the sticks to size (new blade on the knife and they went quite quickly) the real pain was I added a 2 notches into each end so I could wrap the wire around it otherwise the gaps were to big in-between the slats. Having to do 200 of them might make me recogniser that view

Cheers Zerg, glad you liked this one.

I do try to have fun Ezki, and making random things like this entertains me and keep me going with the hobby

The Voting

I got a total of 41 votes putting me in 3rd place out of 38 entries.

My first try at OSL, which went ok I think, I tried to make it a dull glow from the stones rather than bright light, I tried to use a backdrop of the area that the bridge scene was filmed took me hours to research since I couldn't find photos of exact location. Photos are also a bit odd since its quite odd since I found it hard to photo graph something long and thin but still get the detail (no comment). Just used some very old goblins to represent the warriors closing in on Indy Ork. Plan is to put the bridge into some scenic cliffs at some point.

Cheers Cam, yeah there are some very talented people who enter those comps but still friendly and good fun all the same, I'd recommend having a go at at least 1 to anyone.

Thank you Syro and CB, the Christmas dioramas are a tradition now I hope to keep up

Next up we have
Ork Captain Baseball Bat Boy

To explain, the theme was "Everyday Hero". I did some research into odd super hero's that didn't quite make it (ones like Squirrel Girl, Arm fall off boy or Matter-Eater Lad) but none of them jumped out at me as something I could do or people would recognise. When I was younger I remembered a Super Hero that was a bit tongue in cheek from the Max Payne video games - Captain Baseball Bat Boy

Wiki
http://maxpayne.wikia.com/wiki/Captain_BaseBallBat-Boy

The Baseball cap is Greenstuff and I found it quite hard to replicate, the Cape is from a greenstuff press mold and the Base bat itself is a piece of Spure I filled down (I used a small file and a drill to create a mini lathe) I also put the Ork in the famous Babe Ruth "called Shot" pose point to the bleachers (and also the Sandlot Kids was a favourite movie of mine growing up). So while this seems like a simple model there is actually a lot of research and pop culture references in this entry.

The Orc Warlord Grimgor Ironhide
Taking a change from conversions I wanted to try and paint something to a decent standard. This was my best painted model to date, and is still one of the top ones I've ever done. I really liked painting the model and finding all the details you don't normally notice are there. I learnt a few more painting tricks and techniques on this entry, although I think I spoilt the final entry with the photos by putting the lights to close so everything seems a bit washed out, A lesson learned.

Morning All

Yeah that was a very tough month to get any votes in and lots of entries to choose from, fun all the same

Time for a current project and one I need some opinions on.

For this months Challenge - "Into the Brench" https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/770842.page (come and join in )I've decided to do a conversion I wanted to do since the new Shokkjump Dragsta model came out. An Ork Delorean

Heres what I have so far, still a few bits to work out

Any tips to making it Orky enough are appreciated (but still want it to be recognisable as a Delorean and a model that can be used as a proxie for a Shokkjump Dragsta). Want I really need advice on is the paint job. Which one of these should I go for:
1. Ork colours all over e.g. Bad Moons
2. Back to the Future themed all over, e.g. mostly Sliver and Black
3. Mix the 2, all added bits are Ork colours all Delorean bits are Back to the Future.
4. Other (write in)

I'd say go mostly orky with a bit of silver and black. I mainly say that because the aluminium finish on the real delorean looks so cheap and plasticy that I think you're better off doing something else. The model is clearly a delorean so I dont think you need to reinforce through the paint job.

Remember the anti radiation hood for at least one of the crew

It looks great by the way

I’ll vote silver and black. But go with a heavily weathered silver, not the toy-like polished one of the actual car.

Any ideas about the base? You could litter it with Back to the Future references.

Yep, weathered silver and black is probably the way to go, and I think that even fits Goffs.

Are you going to cut a hole (or model it to look like so) in the hood for those saw blades? Right now they look like static sharp bits, not spinning discs. Of course that's totally fine if that's what you're going for.

Thanks for the feedback so far

Yeah if I go with the Silver it will be either really beaten up like this one

Or rusty and dull like this one

As for the Saw blades, cutting a hole there will be difficult since its so thick at that part and will require a mini angle grinder.(its a die-cast metal toy). I'm thinking if I can put them in a surrounding case then hopefully it will look ok.

You are right Nev the base as so many potential options, already got a list of 13 things that should go on it.

Hope I havent taken on too much here to get it all done in a month

Surrounding case would work. You could even just paint the “hole” black.

For the paint, I’d go with #3, but, as the others have said, make the metal grimy.

For the saw blades, could you sculpt it like they just bent back the metal to jam the saw blades in?

Cool. I had a similar thought, but couldn't find any delorean models between Matchbox size and 1:24 model car kits.

Yeah it took a while to find this model at roughly the right scale for Orks, I did buy a 1:48 thinking I might be able to use Grot as drivers etc but it was simply just too small. The 1:24 ones have the dimensions of battle wagons or bigger which didn't seem right either

Managed to get a little bit done over the weekend so its all built, glued, bit of Greenstuff and now finally undercoated

I took the advice and tried to make an enclosure for the front blades so they fitted in a bit better and also started to add references into the base, got more planned if I have time.

Heres some WIPs

Apologies for a gap in posts I've been really busy at work for the last week & 1/2 and then ill for the last few days so progress has been very limited (and why I haven't posted much) here is the current WIP. I'm away all week on a training course so its all or nothing now to try and get it finished by the end of the month for the Dakka (Unofficial) Painting Challenge Round 48 February 2019: Into The Breach!, trying to pack everything I need to carry on which will be an exercise in logistics and planning.

Not the greatest pic but any encouragement or feedback is welcome.
